Liam Rosenior’s future at Stamford Bridge is in doubt, with Chelsea scouring the market for potential replacements following the heavy defeat against Everton.
Blues lining up move for new manager with Rosenior struggling
The Blues’ chances of qualifying the Champions League took a hit at the weekend, falling to a 3-0 loss against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and Rory Jennings called for Rosenior to be sacked straight after the third goal went in.
Jennings said: “Disgrace, they are a disgrace, they are an absolute disgrace. Everyone out there is a disgrace to the badge. Liam Rosenior should be sacked now. What are we… 77 minutes into the game, he should be sacked now. It’s a travesty if he is the manager…
“He has proven to us that he’s not up to the job, look, if you don’t want to make this a personal thing, people get annoyed when I call him ‘talentless’ or say that he’s mediocre, or say that he’s undeserving of the job.”
The decision to give the 41-year-old the job in the first place was perhaps somewhat questionable, given that he had no prior Premier League management experience, spending time at Hull City, Derby County and Strasbourg.
Rosenior has lost seven of his opening 19 games since taking charge at Stamford Bridge, and he is now under pressure, with it being revealed BlueCo have already started looking at replacements…
Chelsea keeping close eye on “excellent” Rosenior replacement
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Chelsea are now lining up a stunning move for Como manager Cesc Fabregas, who could be brought in to replace Rosenior at the end of the campaign, having impressed in the Serie A.
BlueCo are backing their current manager for the time being, but Fabregas’ possession-based style of football has attracted their attention, and there is a feeling he understands the Blues’ club culture, having spent time at Stamford Bridge as a player.
However, there could be competition for the Spaniard’s signature, as Manchester City are also eyeing him as a replacement for Pep Guardiola.
The 38-year-old, who played 198 times for Chelsea, is now doing a stellar job at Como, with the Italian side pushing for the Champions League places, having won their previous five matches in the Serie A.

John Terry is a huge admirer of his former teammate, saying: “I think he’s got the best football brain I’ve been around and seen. The way he understands football, and there’s no coincidence why he’s doing so well at Como.
“I think he’s going to be a top, top manager and, one day, he will manage a Chelsea or an Arsenal at the top level.”
AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has praised the former Chelsea midfielder too, describing him as “excellent” earlier this season.
That said, much like Rosenior, Fabregas, who prefers to implement a 4-2-3-1 system, remains inexperienced as a manager, so he could be a risky appointment for Chelsea.
