Welcome to another edition of Sportskeeda’s WWE News and Rumor Roundup. Today’s edition covers potential spoilers for major matches at WrestleMania 42, as well as a rumored character change for Cody Rhodes.
So, without any further ado, let’s get into the stories.
Thanks for the submission!
4. Former champion returns to NXT and picks up a huge win
Former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano emerged as the surprise entrant in the North American Championship Number One Contender’s Gauntlet Match this past week. Gargano essentially had to be dragged out by his wife, Candice LeRae. She even pushed him on top of Shiloh Hill to get the win, making him the number one contender for Myles Borne’s title.
Although he has been depressed on screen for weeks, Gargano has a chance to win the North American Championship once again at Stand and Deliver and remember who he truly is.
3. Brock Lesnar potentially spoils the result of his WrestleMania 42 match
In a recent conversation with Barstool Sports, Brock Lesnar seemingly spoiled the result of his WrestleMania 42 match with Oba Femi. The former NXT Champion has had the upper hand over Lesnar for two weeks consecutively, and it seems like The Beast Incarnate will put the youngster over at The Show of Shows in Las Vegas.
“I had left the company years ago, and I’m grateful that I’m back for a short time here so, I’m really grateful for all the opportunities that I’ve had in my life.”
Considering that he isn’t back long-term, Lesnar could lose to Oba Femi to build him up as WWE’s Next Big Thing.
2. Paul Heyman seemingly confirms Seth Rollins’ status for WrestleMania 42
Despite getting arrested on this past week’s edition of WWE RAW, Seth Rollins is not medically cleared to compete just yet. But, he might be allowed in time for WrestleMania 42. In a recent conversation with MuscleManMalcolm, Paul Heyman seemingly revealed that Rollins would be in a singles match at The Grandest Stage of Them All in Las Vegas.
However, it seems like it will be a daunting challenge for the former World Heavyweight Champion.
“If Seth Rollins appears at WrestleMania, it will be his last WrestleMania. And that will be at the hands of whomever I choose will go up against Seth Rollins,” Heyman said.
1. Cody Rhodes planned for a character change
The Undisputed WWE Champion has not been seen on programming ever since he was viciously attacked by his former friend and mentor, Randy Orton on WWE SmackDown. Cody Rhodes is expected to return to television on the upcoming edition of the blue-branded show.
Per Self Made Sessions, Rhodes will be returning to fight fire with fire and will likely be showing a similar level of edge and relentlessness in his feud with Randy Orton. While it hasn’t been announced what Rhodes will be doing on SmackDown this week, one can only imagine that the feud for the world title will only become more intense as the PLE in Las Vegas draws closer.
