Liverpool are searching for a Mohamed Salah replacement, with the long-serving forward set to leave in the summer, and they have been making constant contact to sign a “superstar.”
Reds planning for life after Salah
Salah will be an extremely difficult act to follow, with the Egyptian scoring 255 goals in 435 matches across a glittering career at Anfield, during which time he’s lifted two Premier League titles, the Champions League, and seven other trophies.
Jamie Carragher has even suggested the 33-year-old is one of the greatest players in Premier League history, saying: “Ronaldo’s time at Manchester United, both initially and upon his return, was either side of his absolute, Real Madrid-peak years.
“Salah edges ahead of him when judging strictly on Premier League performance and impact. In an all-time Premier League XI, Salah is an automatic inclusion in the front three alongside Henry and Ronaldo.”
However, the show must go on, and the Reds have already started looking at potential replacements, lodging an enquiry about a deal for Bayern Munich star Michael Olise.
Olise is not the only target on the shortlist, with it being revealed earlier this month Arne Slot‘s side were close to reaching an agreement on personal terms with RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, and there has since been a new update on their pursuit of the Ivorian.
FSG preparing move for Bundesliga “superstar”
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Liverpool have been in daily contact about a deal for Diomande, with FSG prepared to make a blockbuster move this summer, but there could be fierce competition for his signature.
Within the Premier League, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have already held talks about a deal for the teenager, while Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain headline the interest from abroad.
Amid widespread interest, any deal is likely to be on the expensive side, with RB Leipzig expected to hold out for a fee of around €100m (£87m).
It is no surprise the starlet has been attracting so much attention from across Europe, having hit the ground running since joining RB Leipzig last summer, amassing 11 goals and eight assists in 29 matches across all competitions.
Journalist Bence Bocsak has been pushing for Liverpool to sign the 19-year-old, and he took to X to single him out for high praise earlier this month.
Crucially, Diomande is able to play on both the left and right flanks, which means he could be a like-for-like replacement for Salah, and at just 19-years-old, he could have well over a decade left at the top level.
