The Punjab Kings (PBKS) will pursue higher standards to break the jinx. Last season, they went very close to claiming their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy, but fell short against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final. Ahead of the opener of the IPL 2026 season, PBKS star Shashank Singh assured that they will leave not a single stone unturned
In the 2026 season, expectations will be high on the young stars like Rajasthan Royals’ Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and PBKS’ Priyansh Arya, who took IPL 2025 by storm with their stormy batting. Shashank Singh predicted that the upcoming Indian Premier League matches will come with more challenges for these emerging batters.
Shashank Singh issued a stern warning to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ahead of IPL 2026
The designated finisher of PBKS stated that last year, when Vaibhav Sooryavanshi exhibited his aggressive batting, he was mostly an unknown, unexplored talent.

As they turn 15 and remain under the spotlight, the cricket fraternity gets the opportunity to monitor their batting style. The same can be said about Priyansh Arya. Every opposing unit will be prepared for the 24-year-old prodigy of PBKS as well.
Shashank Singh, ahead of the IPL 2026, claimed that they will explore some of the technical areas to get the wicket of Sooryavanshi as soon as possible when they are up against the Rajasthan Royals.
Singh mentioned how they will take the wicket of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi early in the match
“Teams will definitely be well prepared, and there will be pressure to perform this year. Expectations will be high, which is usual in India. Sooryavanshi is a star in the making, but there are certain technical areas we will try to exploit to get him out,” Singh said in the JioStar press room.
“The same goes for Priyansh and for other teams. Hence, the second season is even more important. The mental side is about handling expectations as expectations will be more from them now,” he continued the flow.
Mentioning the past, the batter, who is 34, turned mature as the seasons progressed, mentioned that there were multiple one-season wonders in the history of the league. Many talents came and went, as they failed to perform under added extra pressure and a pile of expectations.
The finisher has high hopes for his teammate Priyansh Arya
Shashank Singh does not know Vaibhav Sooryavanshi personally very well, but knows his teammate Priyansh Arya’s mindset. The PBKS finisher claimed that Arya can be a massive threat to the opposing bowlers in the IPL 2026 campaign.
“We have seen it many times: someone has a great season, and then the next year, they don’t get the same opportunities. I can’t say much about Sooryavanshi because I don’t know him personally very well, but from what I’ve seen, he is very calm.”
“With Priyansh, he knows exactly what he wants from his cricketing life. I think he will do really well this year as well,” Shashank Singh, the designated finisher of PBKS claimed.
