Israel Adesanya dismisses all retirement talk after Joe Pyfer loss: “I will always remain undefeated”

Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya’s slide continued as he picked up another loss.

Adesanya faced Joe Pyfer in UFC Seattle’s main event, and despite looking good in the first round, succumbed to the American in the second stanza.

Adesanya has now lost his last four fights, and his last win in the UFC came back in 2023. In fact, Adesanya has lost five out of his last six fights and at 36, there were some questions being asked about his future in the sport.

‘The Last Stylebender’ remains one of the greatest to have done it, but he seems to be past his best. After the loss, Adesanya was asked by UFC legend Daniel Cormier what was next for him, potentially hinting at retirement talks, but the former champion was defiant and wasn’t planning on hanging the gloves up:

“You keep going. Again, and again, and again, and again, and again. I’m not f****** leaving. You’ll never stop me… I might get beat, but I will always remain undefeated.”

Check out Israel Adesanya’s defiant message below:

‘The Last Stylebender’ doesn’t look anything like the star who dominated the middleweight division and even tried to become a two-division champion by taking on Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight title.

Of his last five losses, four have come via finishes and it is difficult to see where Adesanya goes after another brutal loss. However, even after the loss, Adesanya will be remembered for his domination of the middleweight division and for beating most high-profile rivals, including Alex Pereira.

On the flip side, this was a huge win for Pyfer, who spoke about his mental health after the fight. The 29-year-old is on a four-fight winning streak, and beating Adesanya will give him a ton of confidence going into future fights.
