Josh Thomson questions UFC broadcast after disturbing Maycee Barber scene

Alexa Grasso produced one of the most incredible yet scary moments in women’s MMA after her win over Maycee Barber.

The co-main event of the recent UFC Seattle card featured the pair and it was Grasso who came out on top in the first round.

The former UFC flyweight champion knocked Barber out with a right-left combo and another punch as her rival was going down.

In one of the greatest sequences in recent years, Grasso quickly put Barber in a choke hold and the referee moved quickly to call the fight off.

Replays suggested that Barber was already out cold before Grasso latched in the submission, but what happened next raised genuine concerns for the defeated fighter.

Barber was motionless on the octagon for a while as doctors attended to her. She was lying on the floor for almost a minute or so, staring blankly as she was attended to.

The UFC continued to broadcast Barber, which didn’t sit well with former fighter Josh Thomson. The former UFC star criticized the decision to continue the broadcast and posted on X:

“Dude, get the camera off of her”

Fans under Thomson’s post mostly sided with the former UFC star. However, a few claimed this was being sensationalized and fighters had signed up for all this. Barber did seem to recover after a lengthy period, but no update has been provided on her condition yet.

The win was big for Grasso as she came back from consecutive defeats. The former champion has had a trilogy with current flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko, and this win might just put her back into the title scene.
