Thanks for the submission!
“We played ball in KC,” Hopkins said when asked if the Chiefs run a strict program. “We had fun, you know, you got Pat Mahomes out there. Sh*t, ain’t no script, man. Ain’t no ‘you run the route like this.’ Sh*t, let’s get open. Play ball. Read Pat.

“That’s why they win. That’s why Andy Reid is the goat. That’s why, you know, they gonna keep winning. You gotta have fun. Xs and Os only take you so far. You gotta put your best people out there on the field; let them make plays. They gonna mess up, you know what I’m saying? That’s part of the game.”

DeAndre Hopkins had a memorable stint at Kansas City, recording 41 receptions for 437 yards and four touchdowns over 10 regular-season games for the Chiefs. He was subsequently traded to the Baltimore Ravens for the 2025 season.
DeAndre Hopkins explains his drop in form at Baltimore
DeAndre Hopkins’ output reduced considerably at Baltimore, catching 22 passes for 330 yards and two touchdowns, as he started only three of his 17 appearances. The five-time Pro Bowler attributed his limited contribution to a coaching mismatch at Baltimore, where his skill set didn’t match the play-calling style.
“For me, I feel like it was obviously a situation where whoever calling the plays didn’t necessarily want me in on certain plays,” Hopkins added. “And I guess maybe didn’t feel like my skill set matched the way they called plays. But like, that ain’t nothing against them. You know, like, everybody, every coach got what they think is this person’s skill set is good for this, this person’s skill set is good for that.”
The Chiefs struggled with their wide receiver room last season due to injuries and lack of consistency, limiting Patrick Mahomes’ ability. Star catcher Tyquan Thornton missed important games, as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoff for the first time in over a decade.
