For those unware, Mimikyu is a Gen VII Ghost- and Fairy-type Pokemon. It does not evolve from or into any Pokemon but changes its form when hit by an attack.
How to catch Mimikyu in Pokemon GO
Mimikyu is available as a wild encounter spawn in Pokemon GO. While it has a low spawn rate, it will be available more frequently during the Wednesday, April 1, 2026 Spotlight Hour (6 to 7 pm), alongside Pikachu. One Reddit commentor reported about 50 Mimikyu catches in an hour (including Field Research).
The event marks the perfect opportunity for you to get as many Mimikyu as you can in an hour. With the usage of Incense Pinap Berry, you have a chance to multiply the amount of Mimikyu Candy you gather and the number of Mimikyu you encouter.
