IPL 2026: 2 players who starred and 1 who flopped in today’s LSG vs DC match ft. Rishabh Pant

The Delhi Capitals (DC) got their 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign off to a winning start. Axar Patel and Co. beat the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets at the Ekana Stadium on Wednesday, April 1.

Axar Patel saw his bowlers turn in a complete performance as they restricted the hosts to just 141. Delhi were rocked early in the chase, losing four wickets inside the powerplay, but a solid recovery partnership took them over the line with ample time to spare.

On that note, here are two players who starred and one who flopped in today’s LSG vs DC match.

    #3 Star – Mohsin Khan

It may not have had an impact on the scorecard, but Mohsin Khan turned in a stellar spell on Wednesday. Playing his first competitive game in over a year, the left-armer seemed to be a cut above the other bowlers.

Mohsin got through the crease with power and displayed great accuracy. He didn’t concede any runs off his first 11 balls and even prised out Nitish Rana with one that moved away. His speeds got close to the 140-kph mark, and his slower ones seemed to have some disguise to them as well.

Mohsin ended with an economy rate under five, bowling as many as 15 dots. If he can replicate what he did in the 2022 season, LSG could have a real star on their hands.

    #2 Flop – Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant opened the batting for LSG. His mode of dismissal was unlucky, with Mukesh Kumar getting a slight touch on Mitchell Marsh’s straight drive to run him out at the non-striker’s end.

However, while he was at the crease, Pant didn’t look great. He didn’t seem assured against the movement as he hung deep and played tentative strokes on both sides of the wicket. For a man who charges down the track first ball against the best Test bowlers in the world, the left-hander looked out of place.

Lucknow would’ve expected more intent and confidence from Pant, who displaced the in-form Aiden Markram at the top of the order.

    #1 Star – Sameer Rizvi

Sameer Rizvi was brought in as the impact player in the chase, and boy did he make an impact! The youngster was rushed by pace and bounce at times but hung in there to take DC over the line.

Rizvi rescued the Capitals from a precarious position in the powerplay, taking quite a while to get off the mark. Once he got his eye in, though, he didn’t let any scoring opportunities go by. The right-hander capitalized on any positive matchups in the LSG attack and ensured that he ran hard between the wickets.

Rizvi remained unbeaten on 70 and was rightfully adjudged the Player of the Match.
