Cody Rhodes was part of a rather bizarre segment on WWE SmackDown this past week. The American Nightmare attacked Kit Wilson with a Cross Rhodes and then abruptly announced Pat McAfee as Randy Orton’s mystery caller.
Rhodes also cut a scathing promo as he pointed out how underwhelming the reveal was. He referenced the NWO and compared Pat McAfee’s reveal to Kevin Nash and Scott Hall introducing Disco Inferno as the third member of the NWO instead of Hulk Hogan.
Thanks for the submission!
The Undisputed WWE Champion essentially insulted Inferno in the process, and the former WCW star didn’t take it well. He uploaded a post on X/Twitter claiming he would beat Rhodes up if they were ever in the same town again.
“If I catch @CodyRhodes on Old canton Rd when I go back to visit my mom, that boy might get a good ol’ fashion Marietta tushy kickin,’” he wrote.
Rhodes was taken out by Orton and McAfee, who cut another strange promo of his own. It now remains to be seen how things transpire on the road to WrestleMania following the involvement of McAfee in the feud for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Cody Rhodes points out one thing he doesn’t like in WWE
In a surprise appearance on the Nikki and Brie Show with special guest Becky Lynch, Cody Rhodes revealed he doesn’t like wrestling the same people over and over again for months.
“I hope that doesn’t rain on anyone’s parade, but I’m getting tired of wrestling the same guys. You get into these long-standing rivalries and you’re just stuck in them. I mean, Seth Rollins and I have wrestled four times now, and even more than that, really. Those matches took a lot out of both of us. So I don’t know if that’s what I’m looking to do here. As much as I want him to see me, that’s the hill in front of me,” Rhodes said.
Cody Rhodes was most recently involved in a feud with Drew McIntyre that lasted well over six months. However, it ended with The American Nightmare reclaiming the Undisputed WWE Championship after the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event in March.
