Alexandra Eala vs Julia Grabher preview
Eala, who enjoyed a fruitful outing on hard courts, will look to extend her momentum on clay. The 20-year-old grabbed the spotlight during the Dubai Open for storming her way into the quarterfinals. She drubbed Jasmine Paolini, Hailey Baptiste, and Sorana Cîrstea to set up the last eight fixture against World No. 3 Coco Gauff.
Eala continued her impressive performances on hard courts and wrapped up her time on them on a positive note. She has experience of playing on clay, with her best finishes being second-round appearances at Madrid 2024 and 2025. Last year in her main draw debut, she crashed out in the opening round of the French Open.
Grabher has had her fair share of trouble in 2026, managing just three wins in 11 appearances. Her outing stands in stark contrast to Eala’s. Grabher has suffered several first-round exits throughout the year.
The 29-year-old managed to get past the opening round of the Australian Open with a victory against Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto. However, her moment of success was quickly taken away by Anna Kalinskaya, who sent her packing in the second. Her win percentage on hard court in 2026 stands at 25%, which further highlights her dreadful run.

Alexandra Eala vs Julia Grabher prediction
Eala, who hails from the Philippines, has been in far superior form compared to Grabher. She has defeated World No. 3 Coco Gauff in the Round of 32 at the Indian Wells Open. She enjoyed a semifinal run at the ASB Classic but perished against China’s Wang Xinyu. She soared to her career-high ranking of No. 29 in March but eventually slipped to 45th after concluding the Miami Open in the Round of 16. She has prepared for clay by practising at the Rafael Nadal Academy, after the 2025 season proved to be a learning curve for her.
On the other hand, Grabher has yet to find her rhythm this year. With first-round exits at ASB Classic, Ostrava, Qatar, and Dubai, the 89th-ranked player will face a hard time against Eala. Her record on clay will offer her a considerable advantage, considering 17 of her 18 titles on clay at the Challenger/ITF level have been on dirt. Despite her expertise on clay, Grabher could struggle due to her lean run and Eala’s fiery form.
Predicted winner: Alexandra Eala
