Recent Coaching Changes Announced in the NCAA

While there are many months before the 2026 NCAA season begins, there has been quite a shift in the coaching sphere at many collegiate programs. Let’s dive into the changes that have gone down in the NCAA.

    Florida

    Samantha Bohon → Nick Zimmerman

Towards the end of 2025, the University of Florida decided to dismiss Samantha Bohon. There was no exact reason other than the program wanting to strive towards a “championship form.” Bohon finished her tenure with the Gators with a 18-34-18 record.

Nick Zimmerman previously led Mississippi State to an NCAA tournament appearance while defeating 3 top-10 teams. While the Gators have not had an appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2019, there is hope that this change in management can be the catalyst for greater success within the program.

    UCLA

    Margueritte Aozasa → Gof Boyoko

Since Aozasa departed from the UCLA program in late November of last year, the associate head coach, Gof Boyoko, was promoted to the head coaching position. Boyoko was a helpful piece to UCLA’s success during Aozasa’s tenure.

Despite the departure of Aozasa, the program and Boyoko are familiar with one another and have all the tools to take the Bruins far in the NCAA tournament.

    Texas

    Angela Kelly → Margueritte Aozasa

Margueritte Aozasa is no stranger to success and helped UCLA remain a dominant force in women’s soccer. Now, with her transition to the Texas Longhorns, expectations to drive the program upward are set to motivate the Longhorns.

While Kelly left behind a significant legacy as the head coach, Aozasa brings in excitement for a program that is seeking to improve from a record low season.

    Texas A&M

    G Guerreri → Bobby Shuttleworth

The legacy of G Guerreri is unquestionably undeniable at Texas A&M. From being the founding coach since 1993 to recording 512 wins, G Guerreri will always be recognized as a prominent piece to the Aggies program. He will now be taking an ambassador role for the program.

Bobby Shuttleworth was the associate head coach and is taking the promotion to the head coaching spot. As a former MLS goalie and with his familiarity with the program, Shuttleworth is set to succeed at the helm.

    Xavier

    Dean Ward → Katy Etelman

Former Xavier coach, Dean Ward, made the decision to take the head coach position at the University of Iowa. Katy Etelman has been in the Xavier program since 2021 as an assistant and associate head coach. Now, she is taking the role of the head coach.

Etelman has proven to be successful in the program’s management crew. Most recently, she helped the Musketeers secure the 2025 Big East Tournament title. Ward has left a great blueprint for Etelman to follow, but with her youth and familiarity with the program, Etelman is destined to help the program grow.
