From that point on, McIlroy stepped on the gas. A massive 350-yard drive on the par-5 13th opened the door for another birdie, granting him a three-shot lead and full control of the tournament.
Despite some late tension-including an erratic tee shot on the 18th-he managed the pressure to sign for a 71 (-1), securing the win by a single stroke.
