Deng has committed to the club on a two-year deal, extending his time in Tasmania to five seasons by the end of the contract. The 33-year-old has become a central figure since arriving, both on and off the court.
Deng is coming off another productive campaign, playing 29 games during the 2025-26 season and averaging 10.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 0.9 steals, while shooting 42% from the field.
His year was highlighted by a career-best 36-point performance against South East Melbourne, a reminder of his ability to deliver at a high level.
While his on-court impact remains significant, Deng’s influence within the club runs deeper. He has claimed back-to-back Fan Favourite awards at the club’s MVP night, underlining his strong connection with the JackJumpers community.
In a club statement, Deng spoke about what the re-signing means for him and his family.
“It means the world to me and my family to call Tasmania and the JackJumpers home,” he said.
“Our hearts belong to this place and this team. As a player, I couldn’t ask for a more supportive coach, high performance staff and club, and I want to continue to work hard and make them proud on and off the court.”
Championship-winning head coach Scott Roth welcomed the news, describing Deng as one of his “All-time” favourite players.
“We’re all very happy to have Majok and his family with us for another two years,” Roth said.
“It’s really important to have continuity as a club, and to have a player of his stature in our group.
“His role within the team is incredibly valuable. Majok has grown as a leader over the past three seasons. He’s one of my all-time favourite people, an incredible father, and a strong presence within the club.”
General Manager of Basketball Operations Darren Smith echoed those sentiments, highlighting Deng’s importance across multiple areas.
“Majok has been one of our most consistent performers, and this season was no different,” Smith said.
“He’s an impact player who has made the difference in close games more times than we can count.
“His versatility is a huge asset. He can play both forward and centre, stretch the floor, and attack the rim. He brings a complete package.”
The re-signing marks another positive step for the JackJumpers as they build towards a return to title contention, following sixth and seventh-place finishes over the past two seasons.
