Real Reason revealed behind 10-time Champion’s return to Tony Khan led promotion – [REPORTS]

Tony Khan has been receiving critical acclaim for his booking decisions across AEW and Ring of Honor over the last year. He recently brought back a multi-time former Champion at last month’s ROH: Supercard of Honor pay-per-view. The star in question is none other than Kingdom’s Matt Taven. He was set to leave the promotion back in January as reports suggested that his contract was expired and the company wasn’t renewing it. However, he made a surprise return at the pay-per-view last month.

Taven joined All Elite Wrestling back in 2022 and made his debut alongside Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis. The group interfered FTR’s victory celebration on an episode of Rampage marking their first appearance on AEW programming. Later on, he joined Adam Cole’s stable Undisputed Kingdom along with Bennett, Roderick Strong and Wardlow. Taven is a former IWGP Tag Team Champion, former 3-time ROH World Tag Team Champion and a former 3-time ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion. He also held the Ring of Honor World Championship once.

In January, reports suggested that his contract with All Elite Wrestling was set to expire and the company wasn’t planning on renewing it. However, at the Supercard of Honor event last month, Matt Taven returned alongside Mike Bennett to confront Alec Price and Jordan Oliver. As per a recent report by Fightful, AEW decided to let Taven’s deal run out. However, they weren’t sure about what to do with Mike Bennett so they brought Taven back with a different deal than the one he was on previously.

Fans are curious to see what Tony Khan has planned for both stars now they’re back together on Ring of Honor programming.

Tony Khan has his hands on arguably the best Tag Team division in the world right now

Under Tony Khan’s leadership, AEW’s tag team division has names like FTR, Adam Copeland (Edge) & Christian Cage, the Young Bucks, The Dogs and many other teams. Teams like Kingdom and Jordan Oliver & Alec Price also make appearances on AEW television often.

Many reports also suggest that Tony Khan is very close to signing the New Day to his company following their recent WWE departure. AEW under Tony Khan currently has a very stacked tag team division.

It will be interesting to see how the AEW World Tag Team titles will be booked in the next few months.
