Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow reiterated throughout the NFL offseason that the team is a legit Super Bowl contender. He should now pause that talk.
After losing 30-27 to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, it’s apparent the Bengals can’t yet call themselves the class of the AFC.
Loss to Steelers proves Bengals aren’t yet a legit Super Bowl contender
The Steelers offense, led by 42-year-old QB Aaron Rodgers, looked lifeless in Weeks 1 and 2. Entering Week 3, Pittsburgh ranked 30th in the league in yards (249.5 YPG) and last in points scored (11.5 PPG).
And yet, the Bengals made 22nd-year QB Rodgers look like the QB who won four league MVPs in 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. He torched the Cincinnati secondary, finishing 19-of-34 passing for 292 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
