Aaron Rodgers learned a hard-to-swallow truth: Were Tom Brady's Raiders ever interested in signing him?

After long weeks of uncertainty, Aaron Rodgers’ fate was finally resolved… at least partially. With the hiring of Geno Smith, the Las Vegas Raiders closed their chapter around the former Super Bowl XLV champion but left open a disturbing question: Were they interested in Rodgers?

The Rodgers soap opera began with the end of the 2024 NFL regular season. First, it was unclear if the New York Jets were giving the 21-year veteran another chance. Then, the carousel of teams that might have a spot for him on their rosters began when the Jets announced they were moving on.

Along with the Giants, Vikings, Colts, and Steelers, the Raiders were among many teams rumored to have an interest in signing Rodgers. Las Vegas, however, only recently took themselves out of the equation by signing Smith, and not only that, an insider just revealed the bitter pill of truth that A-Rod will have to swallow.

Did Rodgers have a chance to sign with the Raiders?

While there was much talk about Las Vegas’ interest in bringing Rodgers to the franchise, Pro Football Talk insider Mike Florio just put the rumors to rest. Team sources told Florio that head coach Pete Carroll never considered the former Green Bay Packer.

Florio explained that while speaking to his source about Maxx Crosby’s contract, he also asked about Rodgers’ situation. “Only a day or two before signing the new contract, Crosby said he’d like Rodgers to join the Raiders,” Florio recalled asking the source. “So why aren’t the Raiders and Rodgers talking?”

The analyst was blunt when he recalled, “The source made it clear that the Raiders simply weren’t interested in Rodgers. The source then said, ‘I think Pete [Carroll] wants Geno Smith.’” Days later, the Raiders announced the acquisition of Smith from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a third-round pick.

    Will Rodgers go to Minnesota?

Last week, Rodgers hinted that he would like to continue living and playing in New York. With the Jets out of the equation, his only option would be the Giants; however, the team has not shown interest in signing the veteran. Rodgers’ most serious option, according to some analysts, would be the Minnesota Vikings.

At 41 years old and with the constant attention he receives from the media, almost always negative, A-Rod’s future is more uncertain than ever. With free agency starting on March 12, we will soon know if any team is willing to give the four-time MVP another chance or if he’ll be forced to hang up his cleats.

  • Kelce and Mahomes watch the Chiefs dismantle: They will lose one of their best defenders in free agency

Kelce and Mahomes watch the Chiefs dismantle: They will lose one of their best defenders in free agency

The Kansas City Chiefs are entering a crucial stage of their offseason. With free agency looming, the team must decide how to focus its efforts to retain the core of players that took them to Super Bowl LIX. Despite this, some key players seem destined not to return, including one of their defensive staples.

The Chiefs have around 25 free agents who will seek new horizons this season. The latter unless the team is willing to offer them something better or they accept a franchise-friendly contract, which allows them to continue for a while longer under the direction of Andy Reid.

Amid the uncertainty, some analysts have taken on the task of identifying which teams will be lurking to poach some of these players. Among them, the San Francisco 49ers could have their sights set on one of the Chiefs’ defensive linemen who would hit free agency as soon as the market opens.

    Niners on the prowl

According to CBS Sports analyst Jared Dubin, the Niners are opening the door to letting go of defensive tackle Javon Hargrave. If this happens, they will be in need of a man who can fill in for him and fit more within their salary cap. That man could be none other than Tershawn “Turk” Wharton.

“In an ideal world,” Dubin admitted, “they (the 4ers) would get someone who has been a more consistent pass rusher during their career, but Wharton is comming off carer highs in sacks and quarterback hits, and he’s heading into his prime. Give him more snaps and maybe he can be even better.”

This season, Wharton made 29 tackles, 18 solo and 11 assisted, recorded 6.5 sacks, defended two passes, and forced a fumble. At 27, Wharton is coming off a one-year, $2.7 million contract. A perfect fit for San Francisco roster.

    Chiefs look like fire sale

The big problem for the Chiefs is that Wharton isn’t the only defensive lineman with one foot out the door. His replacement, Derrick Nnadi, is also about to hit free agency, as are Malik Herring, Charles Omenihu, Mike Pennel, Marlon Tuipulotu, and Joshua Uche.

Granted, all of them except Wharton are backups, but their potential departure seriously thins the Chiefs’ roster. Whether the team opens its wallet to keep most of them or goes out with its checkbook in hand to see what it can buy on the market, keeping its defense consistent won’t be easy or cheap.

  • Blake Lively unbothered at SXSW red carpet amid explosive legal battle with Justin Baldoni

Blake Lively unbothered at SXSW red carpet amid explosive legal battle with Justin Baldoni

Blake Lively proved she isn’t letting her ongoing legal war with Justin Baldoni ruin her moment in the spotlight! The Hollywood star stunned on the SXSW red carpet for the premiere of Another Simple Favor on Friday, looking effortlessly confident and unbothered despite the fiery courtroom drama brewing behind the scenes.

Dressed in a jaw-dropping strapless Rene Masoomian latex dress with bold black accents, Lively, 37, was all smiles as she posed for photographers at the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas.

An eyewitness told Page Six the actress appeared “happy” and completely “unfazed” as she mingled with co-stars, including 365 Days heartthrob Michele Morrone. Lively even took time to snap selfies with excited fans before settling into the front row alongside Anna Kendrick for the screening.

The warm reception inside the theatre was just as glowing, with the audience erupting in cheers when director Paul Feig introduced Lively and Kendrick. The Gossip Girl alum later relaxed with some popcorn while watching the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 hit film.

    Lively broke her silence

But while Lively seemed at ease at SXSW, her off-screen life is anything but drama-free. The actress remains locked in a bitter legal feud with her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni, who she accused of sexual harassment on the set of their 2024 romantic drama.

In a bombshell lawsuit filed in December, Lively claimed Baldoni and his team launched a “smear campaign” against her. Baldoni, 41, has fiercely denied the allegations and hit back with a staggering $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane.

    Baldoni did not remain silent

The legal battle has only intensified, with Baldoni’s team accusing Lively of attempting to “shield” evidence from public view after her lawyers requested certain materials be kept confidential. The controversy even made its way to SNL 50 in February, when Reynolds allegedly took a jab at the situation in a planned skit.

Despite the legal chaos, Lively remains focused on her work, and Another Simple Favor is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on May 1. As for the court showdown? Mark your calendars-Lively and Baldoni’s trial is scheduled for March 2026.

  • Real Madrid beats Atletico 2-1 in derby

Real Madrid beats Atletico 2-1 in derby

A superb goal from Brahim Diaz helped Real Madrid maintain its dominance of the Madrid derby on Europe’s biggest stage with a 2-1 victory over bitter rival Atletico in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Tuesday.

Atletico has been beaten by the record 15-time European champion in both Champions League final matchups and has won only three of 11 meetings with their city rivals in UEFA competitions.

Also Tuesday, Arsenal made a massive step toward a quarterfinal spot with a 7-1 win at PSV Eindhoven.

On a good night for Premier League teams, Aston Villa won 3-1 at Club Brugge, and Borussia Dortmund drew 1-1 with Lille.

A tense encounter in the Spanish capital was decided by a moment of individual brilliance. Diaz scored the winner for Real Madrid after squeezing past a couple of Atletico players and curling a low strike into the far corner in the 63rd minute.

Diego Simeone’s team lost its finals to Madrid in 2014 and 2016 and was eliminated the other two times they faced off in the knockout rounds – in the 2015 quarterfinals and 2017 semifinals.

    Gunners romp to emphatic win

Arsenal got off a shaky start and Jurrien Timber scored against the run of the play with a header at the far post, just after PSV hit the woodwork.

The London team never looked back after that and led 3-0 at the half-hour mark. Noa Lang scored from the spot before the interval for PSV but the Dutch team crumbled once back from the locker room.

    Aston Villa wins away

Aston Villa shook off its poor away form, and it was largely due to an own goal from a rival player.

A turning point came in the 82nd minute when Club Brugge defender Brandon Mechele beat his own goalkeeper with the teams tied 1-1. Mechele slid to stop a cross from Morgan Rogers, only to deflect into the back of the net.

Before that, the Belgian side had looked solid, enjoyed most of the possession and created the best chances in the second half.

Looking demoralized, the hosts then conceded a late penalty that was converted by substitute Marco Asensio.

Villa had suffered two away defeats in the group phase of the tournament, including one at Club Brugge. In the Premier League, the team has lost seven of 13 away matches.

On Wednesday, it will be Paris Saint-Germain hosting Liverpool, Inter Milan visiting Feyenoord, Benfica taking on Barcelona, and Bayern Munich welcoming fellow German club Bayer Leverkusen.

  • Los Angeles Dodgers manager admit shocking Shohei Ohtani secret: “We have no clue what we're doing”

Los Angeles Dodgers manager admit shocking Shohei Ohtani secret: “We have no clue what we're doing”

The Los Angeles Dodgers, despite boasting the unparalleled talent of Shohei Ohtani, are facing a perplexing dilemma: they have no concrete plan for how to manage their two-way superstar. While manager Dave Roberts insists a strategy exists, the reality appears to be a series of educated guesses and on-the-fly adjustments.

Ohtani, a generational talent capable of both elite hitting and pitching, presents a unique challenge. With his return to pitching slated for 2025, the Dodgers are grappling with how to balance his workload.

“I just don’t know if it’s going to be before a start day to prepare, after a start day. … I just don’t know any of that stuff right now,” Roberts admitted, revealing the team’s lack of clarity.

While Ohtani’s at-bats and stolen base attempts may decrease to manage his workload, Roberts assures fans that the quality of those at-bats will remain exceptional.

How much rest does Ohtani need?

However, the team’s admission of uncertainty regarding Ohtani’s rest schedule has raised concerns among fans. They plan to assess his needs as the season progresses, hoping his dedication to rehab will minimize setbacks.

Despite the Dodgers’ apparent lack of a clear blueprint, Ohtani himself is making a statement with his performance. Facing his former team, the Los Angeles Angels, he delivered a powerful home run, showcasing his continued dominance.

“Regardless of the results, I think the biggest takeaway was being able to go through my three at-bats without any issues. Physically, I felt really good,” Ohtani said, emphasizing his successful return.

It’s a matter of trial and error

Ohtani also revealed that he has fine-tuned his swing, adapting it to better suit his physical condition and ensure consistent results. This adjustment, combined with his strong physical performance, suggests that Ohtani is not just returning to form but potentially improving.

In essence, the Dodgers possess a once-in-a-lifetime talent, but they are still figuring out how to maximize his potential. While they publicly maintain an air of control, the reality is a constant process of evaluation and adaptation. Ohtani, meanwhile, is focused on refining his game and proving that his comeback will be nothing short of spectacular.

King Charles III welcomes Volodymyr Zelensky after White House fallout: What happened behind closed doors?

After Volodymyr Zelensky’s bitter experience in the White House, King Charles III opened the doors of Sandringham House wide for the Ukrainian president. The British monarch has been one of Zelensky’s greatest supporters in the three years since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and he proved it again with this welcome.

Just a couple of days ago, Zelensky had a tense meeting with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and Vice President J.D. Vance. The meeting in the Oval Office of the White House ended with shouts from the leaders and was widely seen as a diplomatic failure for both sides.

After the disastrous meeting, European leaders called an emergency summit in London, where they showed their support for Zelensky and Ukraine. During the meeting, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer reminded European leaders that Ukraine’s victory is “vital to the security of every nation here and many others as well.”

    Meeting with King Charles

After the meeting with continental leaders, Zelensky took a helicopter to Sandringham House. There, he held a private conversation with King Charles. As usual, Buckingham Palace kept the talk confidential, but the monarch has repeatedly expressed his support for Ukraine.

At the time, the King declared that Ukraine suffered an “indescribable aggression” resulting from Russia’s “unprovoked attack.” Similarly, he praised the Ukrainian people, saying they have shown “truly remarkable courage and resilience in the face of such human tragedy.”

    Which side is Italy on?

Amid Europe’s overwhelming support for Zelensky, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called on the Ukranian president to mend his relationship with Trump and the US. “It’s very important that we avoid the risk that the West divides over Ukraine,” Meloni said amid the meeting in London.

Zelensky admitted, “It’s important to maintain unity around Ukraine and strengthen our country’s position in cooperation with our allies, the countries of Europe and the United States.” However, he also warned, “Ukraine needs peace backed by robust security guarantees.”

  • Eagles want to make Jalen Hurts better, hire new QB coach

Eagles want to make Jalen Hurts better, hire new QB coach

The Philadelphia Eagles are shaking things up for their Super Bowl MVP quarterback, Jalen Hurts, with a fresh face joining the coaching staff. On February 27, the team announced the hiring of Scot Loeffler as their new quarterbacks coach, a move that’s got fans and analysts buzzing. Following Doug Nussmeier’s departure to the New Orleans Saints as offensive coordinator, the Eagles tapped Loeffler-a veteran with 25 years of coaching experience-to guide Hurts into the 2025 season. It’s an intriguing pick for a team looking to defend their Super Bowl LIX title.

Loeffler’s resume is packed with quarterback know-how. Most recently, he served as head coach at Bowling Green State University from 2019 to 2024, finishing with a 21-35 record. Before that, he honed his skills as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at schools like Michigan, Florida, and Auburn, plus NFL stints with the Detroit Lions.

A piece of art! Jalen Hurts name written over 9,000 times gives us an impresssive drawing

Scot brings a wealth of experience developing quarterbacks,” an Eagles insider told A to Z Sports. “His track record speaks for itself, and he’s got a knack for adapting to different styles.” That adaptability could be key for Hurts, who’s thrived with a dual-threat approach-think his record-breaking 72 rushing yards in Super Bowl LIX.

What makes this hire extra interesting? Loeffler’s ties to Eagles wide receivers coach Aaron Moorehead. The two worked together at Virginia Tech in 2016, where Loeffler was offensive coordinator and Moorehead coached receivers. That chemistry could mean smoother collaboration as the Eagles fine-tune their passing game, especially after Hurts and A.J. Brown squashed rumors of tension with a 1,079-yard season from Brown in 2024.

Scot Loeffler joins Eagles: What it means for Jalen Hurts in 2025

Fans on X are already hyping the potential: “Loeffler’s old-school grit might just push Jalen to another level,” one post raved. For Hurts, fresh off a 40-22 Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs and a 2025 Citizen of the Year nod, this hire signals Philly’s commitment to keeping him sharp. Loeffler inherits a QB who threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns in the big game, plus a league-low three giveaways all season.

The challenge? Maintaining that edge as the NFL eyes banning the “Tush Push”-Hurts’ signature move. With Loeffler’s deep playbook knowledge, the Eagles might pivot to new tricks in 2025.

This hire isn’t just a replacement-it’s a statement. The Eagles are doubling down on Hurts as their franchise cornerstone, blending Loeffler’s seasoned expertise with a championship core. Philly faithful, get ready: the Hurts-Loeffler era could be a wild, winning ride.

  • Former UFC champion calls Jake Paul a coward for cherry picking his fights: “He preys on older legends”

Former UFC champion calls Jake Paul a coward for cherry picking his fights: “He preys on older legends”

Jake Paul is the most polarizing figure in boxing today; media, fans, and boxers either love or hate him, with no middle ground. While his fans support him to the bitter end, his critics, like former UFC champion Michael Bisping, never stop pointing out the age and quality of his opponents.

Jake Paul’s track record is the most peculiar in boxing. From his fight against YouTuber AnEsonGib, during his beginnings in the so-called influencer boxing, to his fight against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson last November, the “Problem Child” has mostly faced retired fighters or those past their prime.

The best opponent he has faced so far is Tommy Fury, boxer, reality TV personality, and brother of former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. The younger Fury is the only one who has been able to beat Paul, and Michael Bisping already knows why.

Bisping did not hold back in criticizing Paul

In response to a post on X (formerly Twitter) praising Paul’s career, the former UFC middleweight champion wrote, “Sorry to say it but you’re incorrect. He portrays himself as a fighter but in reality, he’s a businessman, and not a fighter by any stretch. Can’t falut him for that. We all wanna make money.”

Bisping, who reigned for a year at 185 lbs, was blunt in saying that Paul “preys on older legends that are way past their prime. A real fighter doesn’t know they’re gonna win and they don’t cherry pick fights. They take fights they know they might loose.”

The former champion didn’t mince his words, saying that’s what makes contact sports exciting. “That’s what’s exciting and inspiring to the average man. Not beating someone way past it, at least 20 years younger. That’s coward sh*t.”

    Topuria respects the “Problem Child”

But not all is criticism of Jake Paul. Just as Bisping called him a coward, former UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria showed respect for what Paul has achieved for boxing. “One way or another, he makes you go to the TV and watch him fight,” said “El Matador.”

Topuria challenged Paul’s critics to do the same as he has achieved, saying, “You have to give him his credit, you know. And a lot of people says he’s a YouTuber. Do the same thing. Do it. Try doing it.” That’s how Paul’s career has been, with fans and haters hanging on his every move.
