  • Why Angel Reese has dubbed Maryland's Derik Queen 'Baby Jokic'

Why Angel Reese has dubbed Maryland's Derik Queen 'Baby Jokic'

WNBA superstar Angel Reese has her eyes set on a future basketball sensation, and she’s made her opinion known.

As Maryland took on Michigan in a tense March Madness showdown on Saturday, Reese took to social media to shout out Derik Queen, comparing the 6-foot-10 freshman center to none other than Nikola Jokic, the reigning NBA MVP.

Slaying TikTok! Angel Reese shows she’s a boss

Reese, known for her sharp basketball insights as well as her on-court dominance, wasn’t holding back when she called Queen “Baby Jokic” in a post on X (formerly Twitter). Watching Queen’s commanding presence on the court, it’s clear to see why Reese made such a bold statement.

Derik Queen’s Game Mirrors Jokic’s Versatility

Even though Maryland narrowly fell to Michigan in an 80-81 thriller, Queen’s performance proved why he’s quickly becoming one of the most exciting players in college basketball.

This season, Queen is averaging 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists per game, all while shooting 53% from the field – numbers that make him one of the top freshmen in the country.

But stats only tell part of the story. Like Jokic, Queen possesses rare ball-handling and playmaking skills for a big man. His ability to create shots from the perimeter, handle the ball smoothly, and make smart passes is reminiscent of what has made Jokic an NBA superstar.

Maryland head coach Kevin Willard even remarked to CBS: “If [Queen] was White and European, he’d be the first pick in the draft.”

It’s a striking comment that highlights both Queen’s extraordinary talent and the ongoing discussion about how players are evaluated in the NBA draft process.

Coaches and Players Rave About Queen’s Impact

Though his assist numbers might not jump off the page, those watching closely know that Queen has elite court vision and creativity, especially for a player his size.

Speaking about Queen’s impact on the game, Michigan guard Rubin Jones shared: “He’s definitely a good player. He puts a lot of pressure on you even though he’s not shooting the ball or nothing like that. He’s light on his feet to be so big.”

Michigan’s Will Tschetter also praised Queen, adding: “[Queen’s] very tough to guard with that skill set, versatility is really tough. Obviously hasn’t shot it the greatest from three, but you know came on tonight and shot really well from three.”

Beyond his impressive stats and flashy plays, Queen’s calm demeanor and ability to read the game set him apart. His passing ability, particularly when on the move, is something NBA scouts look for – and it’s another reason Reese wasn’t afraid to put him in the same conversation as Jokic.

As Queen continues to shine under the March Madness spotlight, his stock is only rising, and Angel Reese might be onto something. Whether he reaches Jokic’s heights remains to be seen, but with his unique skill set and growing reputation, he’s certainly on the radar as a future NBA standout.

  • Angel Reese has a new nickname that was birthed from viral video with WNBA legend

Angel Reese has a new nickname that was birthed from viral video with WNBA legend

There are plenty of intriguing storylines heading into the 2025 WNBA season. It will be the first time a subsection of players will come out of the offseason having played competitive basketball, as the Unrivaled Basketball League has done what it was intended to do. One specific player from that league who will have a lot of eyes on her in 2025 is Angel Reese.

The Chicago Sky All-Star is a bit of a polarizing player and personality. On the court, her tenacious playstyle has led to some criticism, as has her offensive repertoire. Off the court, her brash attitude rubs some people the wrong way. But Reese continues to have a lot of fans, especially on social media, where she reigns supreme across various platforms.

Angel Reese’s floor moment stuns teammates as she reacts in unexpected fashion

Angel Reese named “TikTok Barbie” for viral video with Napheesa Collier

Reese hasn’t missed an opportunity to be active on social media while playing for Rose BC in Unrivaled. In fact, she got help from fellow WNBA star Napheesa Collier to put together a stellar recreation of a trending meme.

The Unrivaled social media account felt it apt to dub Reese the “TikTok Barbie“. Reese’s new nickname is a play on her “Bayou Barbie” moniker that came to fruition during her college basketball days at LSU.

“Barbie” appears to always be a part of her nicknames, as the other two that have been given to her are “Chi Barbie” and “Rebounding Barbie“. It’s only a matter of time before she does something noteworthy to get a new one.

Angel Reese caught in unexpected moment with DiJonai Carrington amid social media drama

A video of Angela Reese and DiJonai Carrington surfaced online, showing the two enjoying their time together in a dressing room. While it remains unclear what they were getting ready for, WNBA fans quickly took to social media to express their excitement about the duo.

“Two of the BADDEST in the game,” one fan tweeted.

“The duo we don’t deserve,” another added.

Angel Reese is turning heads with pregame outfit for Unrivaled

Carrington, who recently won the WNBA’s Most Improved Player of the Year award, has been making headlines of her own. The former Connecticut Sun guard was traded to the Dallas Wings after an impressive season, where she averaged 12.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

    Kevin Love’s comment sparks controversy

Reese’s social media presence has been a hot topic this week, not just because of her interaction with Carrington, but also due to a comment from NBA veteran Kevin Love.

After Reese shared a post listing her ambitious career goals-including being a basketball player, model, influencer, businesswoman, and future billionaire-Love replied, “I’m gonna go ahead and take the under.”

While some fans interpreted his remark as dismissive, others believed it referenced Reese’s past comments about resilience and perseverance. Regardless of the intent, Love’s response sparked debate across social media.

Reese, however, did not address the controversy directly. Instead, she focused on enjoying time with Carrington, further solidifying her position as a rising star both on and off the court.

As Reese gears up for her return to action, WNBA fans will be watching closely-both for her impact on the hardwood and for the off-court moments that continue to captivate audiences.

  • Angel Reese's biggest weakness exposed by Lisa Leslie as she puts Sky star on blast

Angel Reese's biggest weakness exposed by Lisa Leslie as she puts Sky star on blast

Angel Reese is gearing up for her second WNBA season, but before she can take the next step in her career, a Hall of Famer has pointed out a glaring issue in her game. The Chicago Sky star, known for her dominant rebounding and relentless energy, has already made a name for herself in the league. However, not everyone is convinced she’s reached her full potential.

One of the most respected voices in women’s basketball, Lisa Leslie, didn’t hold back when asked about Reese’s development. The WNBA icon, who built her career on dominance in the paint, had a blunt message for the rising star. While Reese has showcased strong defensive instincts and an evolving offensive arsenal, Leslie believes there’s one fundamental skill holding her back from reaching elite status.

Call her Miss Mermaid! Angel Reese rules the Miami seas in a sizzling cheetah bikini

    And she’s not sugarcoating it.

The former MVP and two-time WNBA champion delivered her verdict directly to Reese, telling her in no uncertain terms that she has to fix her layups. “We’re going to fix that. That’s fixable for you,” Leslie stated firmly. The numbers back up Leslie’s claim-Reese struggled significantly with finishing at the rim last season, converting just 42% of her layup attempts despite leading the league in rebounds. For a player who thrives in the paint, that’s a major concern.

    Leslie praised Reese’s motivation

Despite the criticism, Leslie also acknowledged Reese’s willingness to improve, praising her work ethic and openness to constructive feedback. It’s a quality that could make all the difference as the 22-year-old pushes to take her game to the next level. With just a few months until the season begins, Reese has a golden opportunity to work alongside one of the greatest post players in WNBA history.

Now, the real question is-can she turn this weakness into a strength before tip-off?

Fans praise Deion Sanders' parenting after Shedeur's viral clip with Angel Reese

A brief but viral moment between Shedeur Sanders and Angel Reese at a Super Bowl weekend event in New Orleans has sparked a wave of reactions online.

While some questioned what happened between the two athletes, others took the opportunity to praise Deion Sanders for the way his son handled the situation.

Shedeur Sanders makes a dismissive gesture toward Angel Reese raising concerns about a possible feud between them

Shedeur Sanders dodges Angel Reese like a pro

The moment in question occurred during an event featuring several high-profile figures, including Reese, who served as an honorary coach in a flag football game hosted by streamers IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat.

As Shedeur, the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback and potential 2025 NFL Draft pick, walked past Reese and a group of fans, he appeared focused on his phone, seemingly avoiding eye contact.

Reese, who had been engaging with fans, looked on in surprise as he walked by without acknowledging her.

The clip quickly made the rounds on social media, leading to a range of reactions.

Some fans speculated about what Shedeur might have been looking at on his phone, joking that he opened a weather app to avoid conversation.

Others took a different approach, commending his father, legendary coach Deion Sanders, for raising him with a level of composure and focus.

“He even had his phone out… The introvert starter pack,” one fan quipped.

Another joked, “Bro opened the weather app.”

While the interaction, or lack thereof, fueled online discussions, there is no known history of tension between Sanders and Reese.

In fact, Sanders attended Reese’s 21st birthday celebration, and there have been no public indications of any issues between them.

For her part, Reese has continued to make waves both on and off the court.

The Chicago Sky star recently became the first female athlete to have her own McDonald’s meal, which launched on February 10.

She has also been building her brand through high-profile endorsements, leveraging her marketability from her dominant college career at LSU and strong debut in the WNBA.

Despite the online buzz surrounding the moment, neither Sanders nor Reese have commented on the situation.

Whether intentional or not, Shedeur’s reaction has only added to the ongoing conversation about both athletes and their rising influence in the sports world.

Angel Reese wears a tie in Unrivaled and sports an outfit in which her purse was a McDonalds paper bag: “She a marketing genius”

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese once again turned heads with her bold fashion choices ahead of Friday’s Unrivaled game.

The 22-year-old continues to captivate fans both on and off the court, and her latest pregame look made a powerful statement that blended business and branding in a way few athletes can.

Life-changing gift! Angel Reese stuns her mom with emotional retirement surprise

For the Rose BC vs. Phantom BC matchup, Reese arrived in a striking outfit that redefined modern elegance with a playful twist.

She paired a crisp white button-down long-sleeve top with an asymmetrical black mini skirt, complementing the ensemble with a slim black necktie and high-heeled pumps. The look gave off office siren energy, but it was her choice of accessory that stole the spotlight.

Angel Reese Promotes McDonald’s Collaboration in Style

Instead of a traditional designer handbag, Reese carried a McDonald’s paper bag-a direct nod to her partnership with the global fast-food giant for “The Angel Reese Special” campaign. Fans quickly noticed the marketing brilliance behind her fashion statement, flooding social media with praise.

“Business mogul Angel Reese,” one user wrote, highlighting her savvy promotional approach.

Another fan added, “Angel in McD’s bag now [fire emoji],” while a third noted, “Angel gonna promote what she got going on.”

Reese‘s ability to seamlessly blend her endorsements with personal style has earned admiration, with one commenter humorously noting, “Angel stays with a bag.”

Beyond her marketing prowess, Reese‘s outfit also drew attention for her stunning physique. One fan remarked, “Lexie and Angel are ALL legs!! Give the girls modeling contracts TODAY.”

Phantom BC Secures First Unrivaled Victory

While Reese made waves with her pregame fashion, it was Phantom BC that dominated on the court.

They secured their first Unrivaled win with a 75-63 victory over Rose BC, ensuring the night ended with excitement both on and off the hardwood.

Reese‘s blend of athletic excellence, cultural influence, and business acumen continues to solidify her status as one of the most dynamic personalities in sports today.

  • Angel Reese 'mourns' big loss as she watches Caitlin Clark bond with Taylor Swift in a natural way

Angel Reese 'mourns' big loss as she watches Caitlin Clark bond with Taylor Swift in a natural way

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese is facing a wave of frustration as her off-court ventures hit a snag. Known for her dominance on the court and strong social media presence, Reese recently voiced concerns about losing 5.2 million followers on TikTok due to a platform shutdown, which has reportedly impacted her financial opportunities.

However, her angst seems to be compounded by witnessing Indiana Fever rival Caitlin Clark‘s effortless rise to the spotlight, driven purely by her basketball talent.

Clark, who has consistently wowed fans with her on-court prowess, has found herself at the intersection of sports and celebrity. Earlier this year, she joined Travis Kelce on his podcast, a nod to her undeniable skill in the game.

Then on Saturday, Clark was spotted in Travis Kelce‘s suite alongside Taylor Swift at the Kansas City Chiefs game in the NFL Playoffs against the Houston Texans, a connection born from her genuine passion for football, not orchestrated networking.

While Reese has successfully leveraged fashion and branding to expand her profile, Clark‘s path to mainstream visibility has been more organic. Her ability to captivate audiences without relying on curated strategies seems to highlight the simplicity of letting one’s game speak for itself – a contrast that doesn’t go unnoticed by Reese, who recently hinted at her growing frustration on social media.

The image of Clark seamlessly bonding with Swift, a global icon, at Arrowhead Stadium is a bitter pill for Reese. It’s a reminder that the court remains Clark’s primary stage, and that success outside of basketball can come naturally when the love for the game shines through. As Reese contemplates her next steps, she may find herself re-evaluating how to balance her basketball prowess with her off-court pursuits.

  • Angel Reese's plans in Unrivaled fail and only work on the catwalk beforehand: 'I'm wearing Pucci, Chanel, Hermes, and diamonds'

Angel Reese's plans in Unrivaled fail and only work on the catwalk beforehand: 'I'm wearing Pucci, Chanel, Hermes, and diamonds'

Angel Reese‘s fashion remained on point but the same cannot be said for her debut in Napheesa Collier’s Unrivaled League as the 22-year-old Chicago Sky star struggled in her first competitive game since September.

A promising debut to life in the WNBA in 2024 was sadly ended when the ex-LSU Tiger fractured her wrist and had to undergo surgery, meaning she finished with averages of 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals as a rookie.

Napheesa Collier’s game-winning basket seals historic Unrivaled league opener

Now able to shoot baskets again, she’s back on the court in the new 3×3 basketball league but she might be lacking match sharpness based on her debut performance. Reese surrendered five turnovers, shot 42% from the field and committed four fouls.

Whilst she did manage to lead her teammates Chelsea Gray and Kahleah Copper with 12 rebounds, she never tried to shoot a three-pointer and was eventually subbed in the fourth quarter as Rose fell to a 79-73 defeat to Vinyl.

After months out of the game, she could be dealing with some match sharpness issues and may need to adjust to her new wrist after surgery.

All the same, she has demonstrated throughout her career she has the power to bounce back.

Reese’s fashion steals the show… For the wrong reasons

But all the talk wasn’t just about her on-court appearance. It was about her fashion sense too as she showed off some of her incredible wealth by arriving to the Wayfair Arena on January 17 draped in luxury goods

“I’m wearing Pucci, I’m wearing Chanel, I’m wearing Hermes, I’m wearing diamonds,” Reese, noted for her style, told reporters. However, not all of her fans were too keen on the look since she didn’t back it up.

One user said via X.com, “That’s nice, how about you make an open layup though?”

A second commented, “Doing all that to shoot 2/10 from the field.”

And a third said, “Can you focus on ball bro? You a ball player, this isn’t a good example for young girls who really love the sport. This shit is a fu**in’ circus.”

Reese’s teammates include Lexie Hull, a standout for the Indiana Fever,Chelsea Gray, a point guard for the Las Vegas Aces, and Brittney Sykes, guard for the Washington Mystics, among other WNBA’s stars.

And her new team has taken notice of the “Barbie 305” work in the lab, as they posted a video of Reese’s three-point shooting drills, with the caption “She never wants to leave” as she makes shot after shot with flow and tecnique.

The WNBA superstar has algo been working in her inside game as well as her passing skills, work that would definitely is going to show next season. Reese’s seven consecutive double-doubles set the all-time record for consecutive games with a double-double by a first.year player all time.

    Reese’s a rebound machine

After the All-Star/Olympic break, Reese became the first player in WNBA history with three consecutive games with 20 or more rebounds. She finished with a double-double in each of those games. That three-game stretch included Reese’s career high for rebounds in a single game, when she notched 22 against Las Vegas.

Her 22 rebounds were the most in a single game by any player in the league in the 2024 season and are tied for the most in a single game in Chicago Sky’s history (Sylvia Fowles, 2013). She averaged 14.3 points, 20.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks from Aug. 18-25.

Angel finished the 2024 season with a trio of impressive performances. She recorded 17 points and 19 rebounds on the road against Minnesota Sept. 1, becoming the fastest player in league history to reach 400+ rebounds. • Angel Reese's podcast earns top honors while facing shocking controversy

Angel Reese's podcast earns top honors while facing shocking controversy

Angel Reese is making waves both on and off the basketball court. Her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, has been named one of the top athlete-led podcasts by Boardroom heading into 2025. Reese celebrated the recognition with her fans on Instagram, simply captioning her repost of the news with “Thank ya.”

Launched in September, the podcast has quickly gained traction, boasting 113,000 subscribers on YouTube and featuring star-studded guests like Dwyane Wade, Shaquille O’Neal, and rapper GloRilla. This achievement places Reese among a select group of WNBA players breaking barriers in media, alongside the highly ranked A Touch More podcast by Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe.

Angel Reese tells rapper Sexyy Red that she believes in marriage and that not all men are unfaithful

However, Reese’s milestone was overshadowed by disturbing comments made by Charleston White during his appearance on Jeff Teague’s Club 520 podcast.

    Controversial comments draw fire

White, notorious for his inflammatory remarks, targeted Reese with a series of shocking statements. While discussing her influence on the WNBA’s rising popularity, White echoed Shaquille O’Neal’s earlier comments about her dunking ability but took the rhetoric to an appalling level.

He suggested Reese should create an explicit online account, saying, “She should dunk in some panties with no bra on. That’s how you sell tickets.” White continued with crude remarks implying Reese was prioritizing sexuality over her athletic career, stating, “I think Angel Reese don’t wanna play basketball. I think she wanna sell herself.”

These comments have drawn widespread condemnation from fans, analysts, and fellow WNBA players. Las Vegas Aces star Sydney Colson, sports analyst Natalie Esquire, and LA Sparks guard Lexie Brown were among those who criticized the misogynistic and disrespectful nature of White’s remarks.

    A rising star amidst challenges

Despite the controversy, Reese’s impact on the WNBA is undeniable. Her presence, along with Caitlin Clark’s, has brought unprecedented attention to the league. Ticket sales are soaring, viewership is up, and the WNBA recently signed its biggest TV deal in history.

While Reese’s success continues to elevate the sport, the backlash against White’s comments highlights ongoing challenges female athletes face in battling sexism and objectification. Reese, known for her unapologetic confidence, has yet to respond publicly, but her continued success serves as a powerful reminder of her resilience.
