  • Chris Eubank Jr's egg smack of Conor Benn did not come cheap for his wallet

This was somewhat expected but surprising nonetheless because of the whole situation. Chris Eubank Jr. has been fined £100,000, which is roughly $129,000, by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) for striking Conor Benn in the head with an egg during their February 27 press conference in Manchester, U.K.

The media event, intended to promote their upcoming April 26 fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, quickly descended into chaos when Eubank egged Benn during the traditional face-off. Since then, speculation on if there were to be a fine had been floating in the air.

The BBBoC issued a statement following a hearing before the Stewards, stating, “Chris Eubank Jr. was found to be in breach of Regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester for the Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn contest on 26th April 2025.”

This feud has been going on for a while

This incident is the latest chapter in the ongoing feud between the sons of U.K. boxing legends Chris Eubank Snr and Nigel Benn. The rivalry between the two families has been intensifying since their initially scheduled bout in 2022 was canceled after Benn tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs).

The tension between the fighters has been further fueled by social media exchanges and public comments. Eubank’s egging of Benn was a reference to a claim by the World Boxing Council (WBC) that Benn’s positive drug test could have been due to excessive egg consumption.

Eubank later posted on social media, “Apparently egg contamination was the reason for his two failed drugs tests. So I contaminated him with an egg.” As the April 26 fight approaches, the animosity between Eubank and Benn shows no signs of abating. Fans and analysts alike are eagerly anticipating the showdown, which promises to be a highly charged and contentious bout.

Conor Benn reacts to Chris Eubank Jr.'s TKO win over Liam Smith: “I'm not really impressed”

Chris Eubank Jr. is back. After a surprising loss to Liam Smith in January, the two squared off again on Saturday, with Eubank Jr. winning via a 10th round TKO. It was a return to form for the 33-year-old that marked his 33rd victory.

As soon as the fight ended, calls were quickly being made for the inevitable Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn matchup. It was the first thought that came to Matchroom Boxing chairmanEddie Hearn‘s mind.

Unsurprisingly, Benn made his feelings known on the fight, downplaying Eubank’s performance. He even revealed he will fight at a higher weight to make it happen, with a bold prediction for the potential fight.

It didn’t look great. Smith made him look good. What, it takes you ten rounds to dispatch of someone who’s got a broken leg, or two? I’m not really impressed. Eubank, let’s get it on. It’s unfinished business there. We can do it next. I’ll come up to 160lbs, no problem. It’s curtains within four rounds.

Eubank caught wind of Benn’s reaction and used the opportunity to hit Benn below the belt: “I don’t know, man. Maybe the juice is still affecting his mental.

Benn’s return is around the corner

Benn, of course, tested positive for a banned substance in October of 2022, and his slated fight against Eubank was called off just three days before showtime by the British Boxing Board of Control. Benn was cleared and his suspension was lifted by UK Anti-Doping in late July, making Benn “free to fight“.

Benn revealed today that his plan is to return to the ring on September 23 on the Richardson Hitchins vs. Jose Zepeda card.
