    Recent rumors suggest the Cowboys could trade for New England Patriots quarterback Joe Milton III, with a third-round pick as the reported asking price. While Milton showed promise in his lone professional start, this move wouldn’t make much sense for Dallas. Instead of giving up valuable draft capital, the Cowboys already have a better option on the table: bringing back Trey Lance.

    Trey Lance is the smarter choice

    Dallas traded a fourth-round pick last season to acquire Trey Lance, the former third overall pick. Although Lance hasn’t had significant playing time with the Cowboys, he has spent a full season learning the system, developing chemistry with the team, and gaining valuable experience in the offense.

    Milton, on the other hand, would come in as an unknown factor. He may have a strong arm, but at 24 years old, he’s still an unproven prospect with limited NFL experience. Additionally, by the time Prescott’s contract expires, Milton will be 28-hardly a young quarterback to develop for the future.

    If the Cowboys are serious about grooming a potential successor for Prescott, it makes more sense to retain Lance, who still has a higher upside and is already familiar with the organization.

    Drafting a quarterback can wait

    Some have suggested that Dallas should look to the draft for a developmental quarterback. However, using an early pick this year doesn’t align with the team’s long-term plans. Drafting a rookie now would mean their contract could expire before Prescott’s, making it a wasted investment.

    Instead of spending draft capital on Milton or reaching for a quarterback in this year’s draft, the Cowboys should focus on strengthening their roster and revisit the quarterback situation when the timing is right.

    Re-signing Lance is the most logical move-it keeps continuity within the team, provides a capable backup, and avoids unnecessary trades. If Dallas is truly thinking about the future, they already have their answer.

    The Cowboys, who are always looking for an edge in their highly competitive division, could benefit from adding another elite playmaker alongside Lamb. Hill’s speed and deep-threat ability could open up the field for quarterback Dak Prescott, making an already potent offense even more dangerous.

    Benkert also sees a perfect fit for Hill in Baltimore, where the Ravens are looking to build around MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson.

    “With Baltimore, he would be able to join an aging roster to help close the gap in their AFC title run – and would be the best receiver Lamar Jackson has ever played with,” Benkert added.

    Hill’s arrival in Baltimore would undoubtedly provide Jackson with a dynamic weapon, something the Ravens have lacked in recent years. As the team looks to capitalize on its championship window, acquiring a proven game-changer like Hill could be the final piece they need to reach the Super Bowl.

    The receiver also led the league in receptions and receiving yards in 2020, earning All-Pro honors. If healthy, he could be a perfect complement to Lamb and give quarterback Dak Prescott another elite target downfield.

    The move is a big change for Lawrence, who spent the first 11 years of his career in Dallas and was named to the Pro Bowl four times.

    Although Lawrence made it clear Dallas is his home, his comments didn’t sit well with Parsons, who has been with the Cowboys since 2021.

    “This what rejection and envy look like,” said Parsons. “This some clown [expletive].”

    Things escalated further when Lawrence took aim at Parsons’ priorities, as the Cowboys last won a Super Bowl back in 1995/96.

    “Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth,” Lawrence wrote. “Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.”

    Cowboys legend weighs in

    This back and forth between two players who have been key figures for the Cowboys hasn’t gone down well with Drew Pearson.

    The legendary Cowboys receiver spoke with TMZ Sports about the matter, and he stated he wished the two would air their dirty laundry away from social media.

    “Too much social media!” said Pearson with his head in his hands, adding that he dealt with similar problems when he was a player – but that things were sorted out behind closed doors.

    “Take care of your business on the field, and the other guys will follow suit,” Pearson said about Parsons, encouraging the pass rusher to keep his focus on the field.

That comes with the territory of being “America’s Team“, a moniker that has brought about extremely high expectations for the franchise for nearly five decades. But in recent times, these offseasons have been more important than in the past.

    The reason for that is the team has found postseason success way too hard to come by. Dallas hasn’t made a Super Bowl since 1996, which was also the last time they won their conference. Despite having a good amount of division success, it hasn’t led to playoff wins, putting Jerry Jones under a lot of pressure to make the right moves. Coming off of a poor season that led to the departue of Mike McCarthy, Jones needed to be aggressive this offseason. Instead, he has chosen to be “selectively aggressive“.

The front seven constantly got gashed by opposing running backs, giving up over 100 rushing yards in nearly half of their games. But on Wednesday, the Cowboys traded for a player who may actually make their run defense worse than last year.

    The Tennesee Titans shipped Kenneth Murray Jr. to the Cowboys for a swap of late-round picks. The compensation is cheap, but Murray being on the field at all will make runnning backs’ eyes pop. According to Pro Football Focus, Murray ranked 185th out of 189 linebackers in run defense grade last season. His previous seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers weren’t much better either.

    Murray is an athletic specimen and can run and hit, but he also isn’t a great coverage linebacker. He ranked 119th out of 189 there last season. Given that the Cowboys signed Jack Sanborn to a one-year deal, it’s possible the two will battle it out for a starting spot. It doesn’t inspire confidence for a unit low on talent, though.

    Dallas leads the way for J.K. Dobbins

    Reports say the Dallas Cowboys, at +250 or 5-2 odds, are the “betting favorites” to land Dobbins, a free agent this offseason. The Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings also have good odds to land Dobbins.

    Dallas might be able to keep Dobbins for a bargain (his salary cap hit last season was $1.13 million), but his solid comeback year in 2024 may allow him to demand more.

    Spotrac estimates his market value at just over $4 million, which is within the Cowboys‘ budget after this week’s “blow it up” plan.

    Although Rico Dowdle, the 2024 starter, is also a free agent this year, he is currently estimated to be more expensive than Dobbins.

    The injury history is certainly a concern for the 2020 second-round draft pick out of Ohio State.

    In his second year in the NFL, he missed the entire season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament. In the last three seasons, Dobbins has missed 28 games due to knee and Achilles tendon injuries in Baltimore and Los Angeles.

    “We understand their strengths, their weaknesses, what they bring to the table from a culture standpoint.

    “So, again, it all depends on how things go. It’s a very competitive business, a very competitive time of year.”

    Alongside Parsons, defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa is another player whose contract extension is anticipated, but based on the comments of Schottenheimer, it may not be the news Cowboys fans are looking for.

    Schottenheimer looks ahead to working with Klayton Adams

    With his promotion to head coach, the Cowboys needed a new offensive coordinator and that role has now been filled by Klayton Adams, who was previously the offensive line coach for the Arizona Cardinals.

    Adams played a key role in their top-10 rushing offense in 2024 and Schottenheimer spoke highly of his new colleague and his ability to contribute to the Cowboys‘ offensive strategy.

    “This guy is just incredible in terms of his foundation of teaching fundamentals, and he’s been a kind of a fast riser,” Schottenheimer said. “I remember meeting him a couple years ago in Indianapolis and just walking away from the conversation and being like, okay, that guy’s different.

    “He’s a guy that I’ve been tracking, and if ever given the opportunity to be a head coach and being the play caller, a guy like this would complement me in some areas that I quite honestly need to be complemented.

    “I’ll be good for him because I did this for the last two years with Mike [McCarthy], and I think we’ll work very well together.”
