IPL 2025: Salary of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) players; check out how much Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran earn

IPL 2025 is set to be an exciting season for cricket fans, especially for the followers of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). After a disappointing performance in IPL 2024, where they finished seventh, LSG have made significant changes to their squad in hopes of a turnaround. Let us dive into the team’s preview for the upcoming season and provide a detailed look at the salaries of LSG players, highlighting the earnings of key players like Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran.

A new dawn for Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants have undergone a transformative offseason, making strategic moves to enhance their competitiveness in IPL 2025. The most notable change is the acquisition of Pant, who has been signed for a record-breaking ₹27 crore, making him the highest-paid player in IPL history. His appointment as captain marks a new era for LSG, replacing KL Rahul, who has moved to the Delhi Capitals.

LSG’s roster now boasts a mix of established stars and promising young talents. Alongside Pant, the team features international players such as Pooran, David Miller, and Mitchell Marsh. This blend of experience and youth aims to create a formidable batting lineup capable of challenging any opponent. However, despite their strong batting order, concerns remain regarding their bowling depth, particularly due to injuries affecting key pace bowlers.

Strengths and weaknesses of Lucknow Super Giants

The strengths of LSG lie in their explosive middle order and a capable Indian bowling lineup led by emerging talents like Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan. The combination of Pant’s leadership and Pooran’s explosive batting provides a solid foundation for success. However, one glaring weakness is the lack of specialist openers. Players like Aiden Markram and Marsh are not traditional T20 openers, which could hinder their performance at the start of innings.

In terms of opportunities, LSG can capitalize on their star-studded lineup to attract fan support and potentially secure sponsorship deals. However, they must also navigate threats such as fierce competition from other franchises and the pressure to perform that comes with high-profile signings.

Key player earnings: Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran

Pant’s contract at ₹27 crore not only makes him the highest-paid player in IPL history but also reflects his immense value to the franchise following his recovery from a serious car accident in 2022. His earnings are expected to exceed this base salary due to an additional match fee introduced by the IPL Governing Council, which adds approximately ₹7.5 lakh per match played. If Pant participates in all 14 league matches, his total earnings could surpass ₹28 crore after accounting for match fees.

Pooran also commands a substantial salary at ₹21 crore, making him one of the top earners in the league. As an explosive batter and wicketkeeper, Pooran’s contributions will be vital for LSG as they aim to make a significant impact this season.

Twitter reactions: David Miller’s ton goes in vain as New Zealand thrash South Africa to setup final clash with India in Champions Trophy 2025

South Africa‘s wait for an ICC trophy continues as New Zealand stormed into the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with a commanding 50-run victory in the second semi-final at Gaddafi Stadium. Despite a stunning century from David Miller, the Proteas fell short in their chase of 363, as New Zealand’s clinical batting and disciplined bowling proved too strong.

Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson steer New Zealand to a massive total

Opting to bat first, the Black Caps posted a mammoth 362/6 in 50 overs, thanks to stunning centuries from Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson. Ravindra anchored the innings with a splendid 108 off 101 balls, while Williamson continued his classy touch with a 102 off 94 deliveries. The duo stitched together a match-defining partnership, dismantling the Proteas’ bowling attack. Contributions from Daryl Mitchell (49 off 37) and Glenn Phillips (49 off 27) added the finishing touches to an already imposing total.

South Africa’s bowlers found it tough to contain the flow of runs. Lungi Ngidi was the pick of the bowlers, bagging 3 wickets but conceding 72 runs. Kagiso Rabada (2/70) and Wiaan Mulder (1/48) chipped in with crucial breakthroughs, but Marco Jansen and Keshav Maharaj remained wicketless, allowing New Zealand to dominate.

David Miller’s heroics in vain as South Africa falls short

Chasing 363 for victory, South Africa started steadily but lost key wickets at regular intervals. Captain Temba Bavuma played a measured knock of 56 off 71 balls, while Rassie van der Dussen kept hopes alive with a well-crafted 69 off 66 deliveries. However, it was Miller who truly ignited the chase with a breathtaking century, smashing 100 off just 67 balls with 10 fours and 4 sixes. Despite his valiant effort, the rest of the batting lineup failed to provide the necessary support, and South Africa fell short at 312/9 in their 50 overs.

Mitchell Santner destroys Proteas’ batting order

The Kiwi bowlers ensured their team’s place in the final with disciplined bowling efforts. Mitchell Santner led the charge with a crucial spell of 3/43 in 10 overs, while Matt Henry (2/43) and Phillips (2/27) provided key breakthroughs at critical moments. Rachin also chipped in with a wicket, restricting South Africa’s middle order from capitalizing on Miller’s brilliance. New Zealand will now meet India in the final of the tournament on March 09.

    10. Anrich Nortje (Fast Bowler)

    11. Ottneil Baartman (Fast Bowler)

Right-arm fast bowler Baartman’s swing and precision will be pivotal in exploiting early movement and dismantling Pakistan’s top order.

In a gripping Eliminator match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, Barbados Royals emerged victorious against the Trinbago Knight Riders by 9 wickets, successfully chasing down a revised target of 60 runs in just 4.2 overs using the DLS method. This win propelled the Royals into the next round of the tournament, demonstrating their prowess and resilience under pressure.

The match was marked by a standout performance from David Miller, whose explosive unbeaten 50 runs off just 17 balls proved instrumental in securing the victory. In addition to that remarkable match, one of the standout moments was Maheesh Theekshana‘s stunning delivery that clean-bowled Sunil Narine.

Maheesh Theekshana’s brilliant wicket of Sunil Narine

In the first over of the innings, Theekshana executed a stunning delivery to dismiss Narine, showcasing his exceptional bowling skills. The delivery was pitched back of a length, enticing Narine to come down the wicket. As Narine advanced, Theekshana cleverly bowled a ball that spun away from him, creating a deceptive angle. Narine aimed to play the ball straight down the ground, trying to counter the spin. However, the ball curved sharply, eluding his bat and crashing into the stumps. This clever piece of bowling not only claimed Narine’s wicket but also set a tone for Theekshana’s performance in the match. The wicket marked Trinbago at 2/1, with Narine scoring just 2 runs off 3 balls.

  • IPL 2024: David Miller throws light on the Impact Player rule

IPL 2024: David Miller throws light on the Impact Player rule

Initially met with scepticism, the ‘Impact Player’ rule permits teams to substitute one member of their playing XI during a match in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Over time, franchises have embraced the concept of a 12-a-side contest, leveraging the rule to bolster their lineups and strategically sideline specialist all-rounders.

Introduced in 2023, the rule has recently ignited a debate within the cricketing community. Notable players such as Rohit Sharma, Axar Patel, Mukesh Kumar, Ryan ten Doeschate and Mohammed Siraj have expressed reservations about the Impact Sub-rule, suggesting that it diminishes the role of players. Adding to the discussion, South African cricketer David Miller has shared his perspective on this rule.

David Miller expresses his disappointment with the Impact Player rule

The use of this rule in IPL 2024 has resulted in a notable surge in high-scoring matches. Five of the six highest totals ever recorded in the IPL have occurred during the ongoing season, with teams consistently surpassing the 220-run mark. However, this rule has failed to garner favour from a Gujarat Titans (GT) batter.

Prior to GT’s encounter with the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Miller echoed Rohit’s sentiments regarding the impact player rule during the pre-match press conference. He expressed his lack of enthusiasm for the rule, emphasizing his belief that cricket is ultimately a game of eleven players and should remain as such.

“The impact player rule, I am not a big fan of it. IPL has been a trial and is creating a lot of hype around it. The game of cricket has always been of 11 players. As Rohit mentioned, it is not the same in international cricket so we should keep the same,” Miller said during the pre-match press conference.

“It’s like having six bowlers and eight batters and taking the all-rounders out of contention. I don’t know what they’re going to decide if they want to keep it, but it is difficult for certain allrounders to bowl,” the 34-year-old added.

    Miller’s performance in IPL 2024

Despite leading his team to victory with an impressive performance, Gujarat’s hard-hitter, Miller, has been facing a lacklustre 17th season of IPL. Over his last five matches, the skilled batter has scored just 83 runs, maintaining a strike rate of 125.76. With the playoffs drawing near, it’s crucial for Miller to stage a swift comeback, as his team heavily depends on him to deliver match-winning innings.
