  • Gervonta Davis calls judge that sentenced him 'crazy' during Instagram live from prison

Gervonta Davis calls judge that sentenced him 'crazy' during Instagram live from prison

World Champion Gervonta Davis was given jail time after he breached his house arrest. He was sentenced for breaking his 90-day preventive custody, which he was serving for an alleged hit and run incident which took place in 2020.

He expressed his anger at the decision, and more specifically at the judge, during an Instagram live session which he emitted from his prison cell. He even labelled the judge as “crazy”, while also insinuating that her decision was based on resentment.

“She’s mad that I bought a property. That’s why I’m sitting in jail,” he began. “She said she wanted me to be in my apartment, a one-bedroom apartment, and I couldn’t even take that. She wanted me to stay in a one-bedroom. I couldn’t even have my kids come visit me.”

“I just wanted to spread light on this situation because I feel like she’s taking advantage of me. The things that she’s doing now is not right,” he continued.

Davis pleaded guilty to charges that date back to 2020, which have to do him ramming another car while that contained four people.

After breaking the terms of his house arrest, the boxer will have to spend the rest of the sentence behind bars.

  • Ryan Garcia and Oscar de la Hoya go at each other's jugular on Twitter: 'I'm tired of this'

Ryan Garcia and Oscar de la Hoya go at each other's jugular on Twitter: 'I'm tired of this'

To those who didn’t know, Oscar de la Hoya is actually Ryan Garcia’s promoter but the young fighter just vented some dirty laundry in public. It all started after a post from journalist Michael Benson echoed De la Hoya’s latest statements in which he tries to push a fight between Garcia and Manny Pacquiao. Needless to say, Ryan doesn’t agree with this and placed his next three opponents in order. But more importantly, Ryan is putting his main promoter on the spot and De la Hoya is not one who likes to stay quiet when that happens.

This very well might be the signs of a potential break up between Garcia and Golden Boy Promotions. De la Hoya took to Twitter in order to remind Ryan Garcia he was basically forced into that dreadful rehydration clause. In the mainds of boxing experts, this clause should’ve never been agreed for Ryan. It shows to be the main reason Garcia wasn’t able to continue and seemed gas throughout the entire fight against Gervonta Davis. But as his promoter, Ryan Garcia felt this as a direct attack from the person who is supposed to be in his corner.

Diss war between De la Hoya and ‘King Ry’

Just by taking a look at this heated exchange, it’s becoming clear that Ryan Garcia is increasingly unhappy with De la Hoya’s work. Could this mean the young fighter might finally think about seeking for a new promoter? If both parties don’t reach an agreement over who Ryan should fight next, it could be the final straw for Garcia. In his final dig that has been deleted from his Twitter, Ryan even accused Oscar de la Hoya of posing for pictures with one of his possible future opponents.

Given that Ryan Garcia agreed to all those terms to fight Gervonta Davis and not include De la Hoya was already telling of what is currently happening behind closed doors. But this very public exchange definitely paints a better picture. People now know what Ryan thinks about De la Hoya and viceversa. What ever happens, Ryan Garcia is certain he wants to fight soon and he already clarified who he wants as his next opponent. Who is in the right between the two of them?

  • Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua's promoters disagree over alleged fight offer

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua's promoters disagree over alleged fight offer

Tyson Fury made his announcement on Instagram last Friday and set the boxing world on fire. He publicly said that Anthony Joshua was being sent a formal offer to fight in September. All that is well but promoter Eddie Hearn said on Saturday he has seen no contract on his desk. Let’s be clear that Eddie Hearn is talking about a contract and Tyson Fury’s side spoke about a formal offer. Eddie spoke to IFL TV about Tyson Fury’s video but George Warren wanted to clarify his comments. There is only talk about that potential offer that if agreed, contract talks will start. Warren wanted to make sure as he spoke via Queensberry Promotions that this is only a small misunderstanding.

What does this formal offer to Anthony Joshua entails?

George Warren wanted to confirm that the terms of the offer they are proposing are exactly the same terms from the December negotiations that failed. The offer from Tyson Fury’s promoters is a 60-40 purse split on the champion’s favor and a 50-50 rematch clause if Anthony Joshua wins the fight. Same terms that do seem to acknowledge AJ’s value more than what Fury offered Oleksandr Usyk. From a financial standpoint, this offer makes sense because Anthony Joshua is a far bigger box office draw than Usuk. It’s a no-brainer.

In fact, we are actually starting to talk about a potential fight that is currently one of the biggest box office draws in boxing right now. Although Joshua lost his belts against Usyk, he is still assured entertainment for boxing fans. People still pay a lot of money to see Anthony Joshua and even keep betting on him constantly. Alongside Fury, these two are the ones who have driven the business of heavyweight boxing all around the world. If this fight happens, it will still be a massive event. Should Anthony Joshua win, it would be a major upset that fans are urging to see. Who would win in this potential fight?

  • Julio Cesar Chavez is a different person when he is off the pills, according to his girlfriend

Julio Cesar Chavez is a different person when he is off the pills, according to his girlfriend

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.’s life, as well as the lives of those around him, is complex due to the boxer‘s struggle with addiction. However, there are individuals outside the rehabilitation center who genuinely care for him and offer their support, including his partner and the mother of his children, Frida Munoz, who acknowledges the effort that Chavez has put into his recovery.

Nevertheless, Munoz claimed that the time spent in rehab for several months does not guarantee Chavez Jr.’s complete healing.

While she hopes for his full recovery, she recognizes that a clean and pill-free state is only one part of the equation. Despite the challenges they face, she remains optimistic that everything will work out well for the son of the legendary boxer.

“We are adapting, not everything will be perfect and time will tell if it will be forever or how things flow,” Frida told Nelssie Carrillo‘s YouTube channel.

“He tells me about the situations he went through inside, but I feel that it made him stronger. When someone is inside a rehab center it is not a guarantee that he will never go back.

“He is working hard. While he is off the pills we are a very nice family, because he is a very good person and we get along very well.”

What does Frida Munoz think of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Julio was in the rehabilitation center for a year and two months. Munoz praised his effort, but she also knows that when he takes the pills is when the problems arrive. Yet, she trusts that everything will go well.

“When he goes back to that kind of thing, it’s not cool because jealousy and unhealthy feelings lead to conflict,” she added.

“First of all, I hope it continues like this and we can be united forever, why not? He is the one who has to recover, be happy and enjoy what he did not know how to value before. I tell him that he is an example of life”.

  • Most anticipated fight since Mayweather-Pacquiao: Crawford and Spence meet in July

Most anticipated fight since Mayweather-Pacquiao: Crawford and Spence meet in July

On July 29, boxing will have one of its most eagerly awaited fights in the last decade.

The fight for the welterweight reign, the four belts, between Terence Crawford (39-0, 30KOs and WBO champion) and Errol Spence Jr. (28-0, 22KOs and IBF, WBA and WBC champion) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Considered the most anticipated fight in the sport since Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in 2015, the fight is guaranteed to move at least eight figures on pay-per-view (PPV).

The details of the fight went back and forth until a date could be set after agreeing on percentages, rematch clauses (it will be a two-way fight) and disputes between promoters who, at last, will have a date in Nevada.

“It is the biggest fight of the decade. Two Americans, undefeated, in the top five of the pound-for-pound lists… and in their prime,” Crawford said.

For his part, Crawford is a fearsome finisher. He is coming off the back of a ‘smashing’ of David Avanesyan, who he put under so much pressure that when the European opened the lead he took the punishment in the form of a KO.

Nine of his last 10 wins have come by way of a knockout, and he wants to be the first to hunt Spence down.

It will be the biggest fight since May 2, 2015 between Mayweather and Pacquiao. There came the two great figures of the sport in a battle that went the way of ‘Money’ by unanimous decision, his record improved to 48 wins, 0 losses and he split all four belts coming back on the scene.

  • David Benavidez's team set to send Canelo Alvarez an offer to fight in September

David Benavidez's team set to send Canelo Alvarez an offer to fight in September

Out of all the possible contenders Canelo Alvarez can get for his September fight, the name of David Benavidez is at the very top of everybody’s lists. The people who deny Alvarez are convinced this 26-year-old has what it take to defeat the Mexican legend. Often times has Canelo been underestimated due to the rival he gets but Benavidez is already 27-0 with 23 knock outs and 4 wins by decision. He is currently the fighter who holds the WBC interim super middleweight title after beating Caleb Plant by decision in March. Canelo Alvarez holds the rest of the belts in the same division, it’s only natural both sides would eventually meet.

It all happened early on Saturday as promoter Sampson Lewkowicz met with Eddy Reynoso, who is Canelo Alvarez’s main trainer. The two exchanged greetings and took a couple of pictures for posterity. Sampson and Eddy were also accompanied by Luis de Cuba Jr., who was there in representation of Al Haymon. Here’s what Sampson wrote on IG: “I had the pleasure of sharing a meeting with Canelo Team and Luis de Cuba Jr. to discuss the fight for the unified championship. I will send Canelo an official offer next week and give him time to analyze it and help him make a decision of his next challenger.”

Is this fight better for Canelo instead of Bivol?

Given that Canelo Alvarez has to upgrade his weight in order to fight Dmitry Bivol, making weight against someone like Benavidez should be much easier. Inside the Sper Middleweight division, David is the one who has been getting past all other boxers in the division. All except for the most important: Canelo Alvarez. As Conor McGregor said this week, there are people who think alike and believe Canelo Alvarez is on the brink of retirement. If there is one fight that would either prove or debunk this claim, it’s a fight against Benavidez. Everybody in boxing agrees this is the most ideal fight for Canelo, we just hope he lokes the offer from Sampson Lewkowicz.

  • President of WBC will not endorse a rematch between Canelo and Dmitry Bivol until the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict

President of WBC will not endorse a rematch between Canelo and Dmitry Bivol until the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Mauricio Sulaiman, the president of the WBC, has spoken to the media regarding the much-publicized rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Dmitri Bivol and confirms that the organization he presides over does not endorse the bout if the fight is at 168 pounds for the undisputed title of the Mexican, as Bivol wants.

Bivol wants all 4 super middleweight titles

Bivol has been open about his interest in the rematch, he wants to fight Canelo at 168 pounds and not at 175 because he wants to challenge him for the four super middleweight world title belts, including the WBC belt.

However, the organization has been also clear that the sanction to Russian fighters remains as no Russian fighter, including Dmitry Bivol, is eligible to fight for a WBC title while the war between Russia and Ukraine continues.

Mauricio Sulaiman spoke with Izquierdazo and during an interview, the president of the WBC mentioned that “The definition that was had is clear. It’s a constant and consistent position. Bivol has not approached the process that was left open for boxers who wanted to apply to review their specific case. Bivol has not done so, so for the moment, Bivol cannot participate in a WBC fight.”

Sulaiman says that until there is boxing in Ukraine the WBC’s position will not change

Meanwhile, Sulaiman informed the fans about the WBC’s position during the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, which he had already enforced when there were negotiations for a fight between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev for the undisputed light heavyweight title.

Until there is no boxing in Ukraine, there will be no boxing that the WBC can recognize in Russia,” said Sulaiman reiterating what he had already said a few months ago.

  • Oscar de la Hoya: Canelo will never beat Bivol at 175 pounds

Oscar de la Hoya: Canelo will never beat Bivol at 175 pounds

Canelo Alvarez‘s goal is to beat Dmitry Bivol to avenge the 2022 defeat which handed him the second loss of his career.

However, there are many who believe that Canelo Alvarez would not beat Bivol in either of the two divisions in which the rematch could take place.

Alvarez wants the rematch to be at 175 pounds, the Russian fighter’s natural weight, so that his potential victory would not be underestimated by anyone. He believes this would be the case if he were to beat him at 168 pounds, the Mexican’s weight.

Saul Alvarez with little chance against Dmitry Bivol

For Oscar de la Hoya, former boxer and now promoter with Golden Boy Promotions, Alvarez cannot beat the Russian at 175 pounds and if the fight is agreed at 168, it could be even more dangerous for the Mexican.

“You can call me crazy, but (Canelo) is never going to beat Bivol at 175, that’s for sure,” said De La Hoya.

“And at 168 pounds it might be even a little more dangerous (for Canelo), because Bivol is going to be lighter on his feet, and he’s going to be faster.”

The promoter believes that Alvarez’s team should think very carefully about the decision of who will be the Mexican’s opponent in September because it looks like he is going downhill.

“Canelo is in a difficult situation, because the next fight he takes has to be very, very strategic,” said De La Hoya.

“We’ll see what his brilliant trainer does. From a boxer’s perspective, I do see him being a little bit slower. I saw that his left hand was hurt. I don’t know if he already had an injury.

“The fight showed that even though he has his boxing skills there, his mind wasn’t so confident anymore that he was going to knock out. So that to me is a sign that he’s going downhill.”

  • Tyson Fury's voice transformation: From thin to raspy after knockout blow

Tyson Fury's voice transformation: From thin to raspy after knockout blow

Tyson Fury is a name synonymous with boxing and his voice, which has become iconic in the sport. However, Fury’s voice was not always the deep, raspy and theatrical tone that we hear today. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Fury revealed that his voice changed after he received a blow to the neck during a sparring session in 2015.

The blow caused a clot in his throat that affected his vocal cords, resulting in the distinctive voice that Fury is known for today. “It hasn’t always been like this,” Fury said in the interview. “If you look at interviews from 2010 onwards, until around 2016, I didn’t have this voice.”

Fury’s original voice was described as thin, slightly higher, and clean. The last time his fans heard his original voice was in November 2015, when he defeated Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf, Germany, winning three of the four heavyweight champion belts. However, Fury’s long absence from boxing, where he battled depression, addiction and suicidal thoughts, changed everything.

Tyson Fury’s raspy voice becomes his signature tone in and out of the ring

When Fury returned to boxing in June 2018, his voice was already totally different. It was low, raspy, and theatrical, which has become his signature tone. Fury, who has grown fond of his new voice, even likes to show it off by singing in public.

Fury also revealed that he was supposed to have the clot in his throat removed, but he was scared. He believes that his voice sounds better with a little more pain in it. “Either way, I think my voice sounds better,” Fury said.

While Tyson Fury’s voice may have changed due to an injury, it has become an integral part of his persona. From his thin and clean voice to his current low and raspy tone, Fury’s voice has undergone a remarkable transformation that has made him stand out even more in the sport of boxing.

  • Canelo Alvarez recognized John Ryder's courage: “You are very strong. An honor to share the ring with you”

Canelo Alvarez recognized John Ryder's courage: “You are very strong. An honor to share the ring with you”

Canelo Alvarez had a magical night at the Akron Stadium in Jalisco, the Mexican managed to defend his super middleweight belts of the four main boxing organizations (WBO, IBF, WBO and WBC) against John Ryder, but he lacked the icing on the cake: knocking out his opponent.

The Brit showed great strength, although he visited the canvas twice, he got up and stayed in the fight until the 12 rounds were over. Canelo recognized his opponent’s bravery and resistance, at the end he congratulated him and thanked him for putting up a great fight.

“Good fight, good punch,” Ryder told Canelo about the punch with which the Mexican broke his nose in the second round.

“Yes, I know,” Canelo replied. “In the second round, at the end of the second round, right?”

“Yes, yes,” Ryder said. “The last punch too, before the bell rang.”

“Yes, I felt it,” Canelo replied. “You’re tough, you’re very strong. Very happy to have shared the ring with you.”

“Thank you, it’s an honor,” Ryder replied.

Canelo hopes to return in September

After the victory over John Ryder, Canelo Alvarez was asked what his next step would be, to which the Mexican said it would be to return in the month of September and that he will seek to close the rematch against Dmitry Bivol.

“We will seek a rematch with Bivol, if it doesn’t happen or he doesn’t want to then we will see who else we can face,” said the Mexican in the final conference.

Dmitry Bivol defeated Canelo in May 2022 by unanimous decision. The fight was at 175 pounds, for the rematch the Russian said he could go down to 168, but Alvarez prefers the second contest to be in the same division where he suffered the defeat.
