Chiefs want to boost Mahomes era with Georgia defensive talent

The Kansas City Chiefs could bolster their defense in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, according to ESPN analyst Matt Miller’s latest projection. In the recent mock draft, Miller anticipates that the Patrick Mahomes-led team will select Mykel Williams, a standout EDGE from the Georgia Bulldogs, with the 31st overall pick.

Williams, known for his physical prowess and ability to rush the opposing quarterback, was particularly impressive in 2024 when he recorded four sacks in two games against Texas. However, consistency has been his biggest challenge, partly due to an ankle injury that affected him during the season.

Despite showing areas for technical improvement, Williams possesses considerable potential that could flourish under the Chiefs’ renowned ability to develop young defensive talent. This strategic move would allow the team to further strengthen a key defensive unit to maintain its championship aspirations.

  • Simone Biles cements her legacy as her former coach honors the GOAT who's shaping the future of USA gymnastics

Simone Biles cements her legacy as her former coach honors the GOAT who's shaping the future of USA gymnastics

Simone Biles’ remarkable career reached another pinnacle at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she added four more medals to her collection: three golds in the women’s all-around, vault and team competitions, and a silver in the floor exercise. At 27, she became the oldest U.S. gymnast to compete in the Olympics in more than seven decades, defying expectations and cementing her status as one of the sport’s greatest athletes. With 11 Olympic medals, she is now tied with Czech gymnast Vera Caslavska, trailing only Larisa Latynina’s record 18. Her dominance in Paris reignited debates about her place in history and whether she should have been named TIME’s Athlete of the Year instead ofCaitlin Clark. While Biles received the honor in 2021, many believe her recent accomplishments warranted a second title.

    Biles’ Legacy Continues

Recently, Biles made headlines not for competition, but for a heartfelt reunion. Accompanied by her husband, NFL safety Jonathan Owens, she visited Athens, Georgia, where she reconnected with her former coach, Cecile Canqueteau-Landi. The two shared an emotional moment at Stegeman Coliseum, where Landi, now Georgia’s co-head gymnastics coach, welcomed Biles with open arms. Landi coached Biles from 2017 through her historic Olympic run in 2024, before moving on to lead Georgia’s program. Despite parting ways professionally, their bond remains strong, a testament to the impact Landi had on Biles’ triumphant return to the world stage after the challenges she faced at Tokyo 2021.

Beyond her own accomplishments, Biles continues to shape the sport for future generations. The Biles International Invitational, held annually at the World Champions Center-her family’s facility in Texas-has become a signature event for young gymnasts who aspire to follow in her footsteps. Since 2018, the competition has attracted more than 2,000 female gymnasts, providing a platform for rising stars. Biles recently expressed her gratitude for hosting the event, emphasizing her commitment to elevating gymnastics beyond her competitive years. While she has yet to fully unpack from her trip to the Paris Olympics, her continued presence in the sport suggests she’s not quite ready to leave it behind.

Biles and Owens Future as a Couple

Looking ahead, Biles’ competitive career with Team USA may be over, but her impact will likely continue. With the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles on the horizon, she could take on a mentorship role and help guide the next generation of American gymnasts. Just as the U.S. dominated gymnastics in Paris, her expertise could play a crucial role in keeping the nation atop the podium. Away from the mat, her presence in the NFL world has also been notable. As arguably the most famous WAG in the league after Taylor Swift, Biles has drawn attention to her husband’s team. But unlike Travis Kelce and the Chiefs, Jonathan Owens and the Chicago Bears have struggled, as they finished the season losing 10 of their last 11 games. Now, with new head coach Ben Johnson and sophomore quarterback Caleb Williams, Chicago is looking for a turnaround in 2025.

This unexpected result has led to the elimination of all the top seeds from the CFP, marking a historic first for the competition.

The Fighting Irish put on a stellar performance, with their defense and special teams leading the charge. One of the standout moments of the game was a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Jayden Harrison, which electrified the crowd and set the tone for Notre Dame’s dominance. The Irish defense also came up big, with a key fourth-down stop that halted Georgia’s momentum.

Georgia Bulldogs’ replacement for quarterback Carson Beck made HS defenses look silly with his throws and toughness

Georgia, led by backup quarterback Gunner Stockton, fought but ultimately couldn’t overcome Notre Dame’s relentless pressure. Despite their efforts, the Bulldogs were unable to find a rhythm and struggled to capitalize on their opportunities.

  • Carson Beck undergoes season ending elbow surgery after SEC Championship injury

Carson Beck undergoes season ending elbow surgery after SEC Championship injury

Georgia Bulldogs starting quarterback Carson Beck’s season has come to an early end after undergoing successful surgery on his right elbow. The school confirmed Monday that Beck required UCL surgery following an injury sustained during the SEC Championship game against Texas. While the Bulldogs prepare for the College Football Playoff, Beck’s timeline for recovery points to a return to throwing in spring 2025.

Beck, who came off the field in visible pain during the conference title game, was operated on by renowned surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache. The name might ring a bell for sports fans-ElAttrache’s patient roster includes legends like Aaron Rodgers, Kobe Bryant, and Shohei Ohtani. His involvement adds a layer of optimism to Beck’s recovery, though the quarterback faces an uphill climb.

In Beck’s absence, sophomore quarterback Gunner Stockton is expected to take the reins for Georgia’s playoff run. Stockton, who relieved Beck in the second half against Texas, demonstrated poise under pressure, securing Georgia’s first SEC title as a 16-team conference. With Notre Dame looming in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, all eyes will be on Stockton to keep the Bulldogs’ championship hopes alive.

Beck’s 2024 campaign has been a rollercoaster compared to his breakout 2023 season. While he posted 28 touchdown passes, his interceptions doubled to12, drawing criticism from fans. Despite the scrutiny, Beck’s leadership and experience have been pivotal in Georgia’s 24-3 record under his watch.

    NFL Draft or college return?

Beck’s future remains uncertain. While he has the option to enter the NFL Draft, he isn’t considered among the top tier of quarterback prospects. If he returns to college football, he could either remain with Georgia or transfer to another program with less competition for the starting role. With several strong arms waiting in the wings in Athens, the decision won’t come easy.

As of now, Beck’s recovery is expected to keep him off the field until spring 2025. While the Bulldogs shift their focus to the playoffs, Beck will focus on his rehabilitation, which will likely dictate whether his next chapter unfolds in the NFL or college football.

  • Hanna Cavinder stands by Carson Beck as Georgia QB's playoff future remains unclear

Hanna Cavinder stands by Carson Beck as Georgia QB's playoff future remains unclear

ForHanna Cavinder, nothing compares to spending quality time with her boyfriend, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck. The basketball star and social media personality shared a heartwarming post on the Cavinder Twins’ Instagram page Tuesday, featuring an outdoor snap of the couple. “Nothing beats it, nothing buys it,” the caption read, as the two, both 23, smiled for the camera in a sweet, candid moment.

The Instagram carousel also highlighted Hanna’s twin sister Haley with her boyfriend, Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson, alongside other members of their close-knit circle. While the post radiated joy, it came amid uncertainty surrounding Beck’s playing status, as he recovers from an elbow injury sustained in Georgia’s thrilling 22-19 SEC Championship overtime win against Texas.

Beck’s injury, which forced him out late in the first half, has raised questions about his availability as Georgia chases its third national title in four years. According to a university statement Monday, Beck is currently exploring treatment options, with no definitive timetable for his return. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart offered reassurances, praising Beck’s resilience: “Carson is a fierce competitor and a hard worker. We’re confident he’ll approach rehab with the same determination he shows on the field,” Smart said, per ESPN.

Beck’s playoff hopes and Cavinder’s court comeback

Despite Beck’s struggles with consistency this season, his contributions remain vital. After a standout 2023 season, completing 72.4% of his passes with 24 touchdowns and just six interceptions, Beck’s 2024 stats reflect a drop-off: 64.7% completion, 28 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Yet his leadership helped secure Georgia’s No. 2 seed in the expanded College Football Playoff bracket, where the Bulldogs await the winner of Notre Dame and Indiana in the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day.

For Hanna, this moment comes as her basketball journey continues to thrive. After reconsidering retirement, she returned to the Miami Hurricanes, helping the team to an impressive 8-1 start. Her Instagram post may have spotlighted her personal life, but her commitment to the court underscores her dedication.

As Beck navigates his injury and Georgia gears up for its playoff run, Cavinder remains a steady presence. Their relationship, confirmed in August, has been public yet grounded. While Bulldogs fans anxiously await updates on Beck’s status, Hanna’s support adds a personal dimension to one of college football’s most-watched storylines.

  • Open the door for the Longhorns as Texas is on top of the national ranking while big pograms fall

Open the door for the Longhorns as Texas is on top of the national ranking while big pograms fall

It was a crazy weekend for the many schools around college football, and all this has put the Texas Longhorns back at number one. The Associated Press college football poll was released on Sunday and it was shaken up, a lot.

After the Vanderbilt Commodores upset the Alabama Crimson Tide one week after they beat the Georgia Bulldogs in the game of the year, so far, things changed in the rankings. Alabama dropped all the way down to number seven.

Arch Manning’s incredible run that made every Texas fan in the stadium fall in love with him over Quinn Ewers

Ohio State and Oregon got seemingly easy victories, so they now also stepped up in the rankings at number two and three respectively. Penn State beat USC big at home and the Nittany Lions are the number four team in the nation with Georgia at number five.

Miami left behind and Boise State climbs

Despite having a remarkable comeback in Berkley, Miami only managed to reach the sixth spot in the rankings, but their undefeated status could eventually inch them closer to higher spots if they keep winning.

Tennessee also is in that pack, as they are in the eight step of the raking ladder. Boise State after another dominating win, they are in 17th, one place back of the Utah Utes and in front of Kansas State, Indiana and Oklahoma.

Missouri did not look good but they were in the Top10 so they are now at 21, while Pittsburgh is now 22 with Illinois 23. Michigan is number 24 but the SMU Mustangs crack in the Top 25 with the last spot, so keep an eye on them.

Game of the year! Alabama survives Georgia's comeback to remain undefeated in the SEC after back and forth action

Everyone thought it would be a great game, but this was just over the top. Alabama had a huge lead, and Georgia came back to take the lead but in a heartbeat, they lost it again and the Crimson Tide survived at home and beat the Bulldogs 41-34 to remain undefeated.

Bama built a 21-0 lead in the first quarter with an inspired Jalen Milroe who was throwing the ball al over the place and running for first downs. Towards the half, the Tide had a 30 to 7 lead, and nobody thought Georgia could return in this one.

Pat McAffe is savagely interrupted by Nick Saban

But the Bulldogs slowly but surely came back with a third quarter touchdown plus a two-point conversion and after an Alabama field goal, starting the fourth quarter the visiting team from Georgia once again scored.

    The crazy last minutes

It was 33-21 late in the fourth and the Bulldogs got to the endzone once again and then got a stop, all mayhem got loose. Down by five and with under three minutes to go, Carson Beck was unleashed as he let go of the ball to find a wide-open receiver to take the lead.

The Dawgs went for two but could no convert and the mayhem continued. On the ensuing possession, Milroe once again went deep to find Ryan Williams for a 75-yard connection to re-take the lead and after going for two points, it was 41-34 with under two minutes to go.

Still Georgia had another chance. They drove down the field and with seconds left, Beck fired towards the endzone, but he was intercepted for a third time in the game and that sealed the win for Alabama. Milroe went 27-33 for 374 yards and 2 touchdowns, one interception, and he also carried the ball 16 times for 117 yards and two more scores. Williams had six receptions for 177 yards and the touchdown.

For Georgia, Carson Beck threw the ball 50 times, completing 27 passes for 439 yards and he threw three touchdowns. Arian Smith had six receptions for 132 yards and and a touchdown.
