  • LeBron James and Doncic no match for Curry and Tatum: NBA's best-selling jerseys reward loyalty

LeBron James and Doncic no match for Curry and Tatum: NBA's best-selling jerseys reward loyalty

It wasn’t long ago that LeBron James enjoyed almost complete domination of the NBA as the outstanding MVP, with only a few rivals able to match his popularity.

But the Los Angeles Lakers star has been overshadowed by the rise of the next generation of basketball stars such as Stephen Curry and Jayson Tatum, who have replaced him at the top of the most popular selling NBA jerseys.

NBA.com posted the latest numbers from 2023 for the highest-grossing shirt sales across the division for the first half of the season, and there is no denying that Curry is the name of everyone’s lips right now.

NBA champion explains why LeBron James is hurting the NBA

The 35-year-old may not be top of the standings in the stats charts, but for the fans, the Golden State Warriors icon remains the most recognizable name and the one they want on the back of their jerseys.

The four-time NBA champion has been with the Warriors since the beginning of his career after being drafted in 2009 and it goes to show that his loyalty has been rewarded by the fans, who clearly believe Curry will spend his entire career with the California team.

    LeBron left behind

Behind him was Boston Celtics sensation Jayson Tatum, the five-time NBA All-Star, with Lakers veteran James filling out the top three. In fourth, Victor Wembanyama achieved the highest ranking on the most popular jersey list for a rookie since the Celtics’ Kristaps Porziis in the 2015-16 season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, Tyrese Maxey and Kevin Lillard completed the rest of the top 10, with established names Ja Morant and Nikola Jokic 11th and 14th respectively.

Despite Curry’s personal success, the Lakers remain the most popular franchise ahead of the Celtics and his team, the Warriors.

The Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers both ranked higher than the Chicago Bulls, who may still be profiting from former stars Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman. The Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks made the rest of the top 10.

  • Stephen Curry rips his jersey in frustration after teammates let him down in epic 2OT battle with LeBron's Lakers

Stephen Curry rips his jersey in frustration after teammates let him down in epic 2OT battle with LeBron's Lakers

Stephen Curry could not hide his frustration after coming up short against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers 145-144 in double overtime.

Watch Steph Curry angrily tear his jersey in half

Curry did all he could for the Golden State Warriors, finishing with 46 points, three rebounds and seven assists, shooting 9-for-21 from behind the arc. Fifteen of Curry’s 46 came during the two overtimes.

He forced overtime with a slick move and layup against Anthony Davis at the end of regulation, and he made a three to put the Dubs up 144-143 with 4.7 seconds left in the second OT, but it wasn’t enough.

    LeBron makes history against Curry

Draymond Green fouled James, who made both free throws and gave the Lakers the win. James finished with 36 points, 20 rebounds (a career high) and 12 assists, the first Laker to do so since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

After the game, Warriors coach Steve Kerr complained about the 43-16 difference in free throws between the teams, but the way Steph shredded his jersey in disgust seemed to signal more tension than just one loss against the Lakers.

Golden State is now 12th in the Western Conference, five games below .500 (19-24) and three games back in the standings from the last spot in the Play-In Tournament.

  • Warriors game postponed after coach hospitalized with 'serious health issue'

Warriors game postponed after coach hospitalized with 'serious health issue'

Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic was taken to hospital after suffering a ‘sudden and serious health issue’ on Tuesday.

The 46-year-old required medical treatment after he was taken unwell at a restaurant in Salt Lake City whilst he was with the team, according to ESPN.

Draymond Green opens up about telling Adam Silver, “I’m going to retire from the NBA”

Milojevic had traveled with the Warriors to Utah for their upcoming fixture and was eating with his fellow coaches and players when the incident occurred.

The NBA has since decided to postpone the Warriors’ clash with the Utah Jazz, which was originally scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

In a statement, the organization confirmed that a “medical emergency in the Warriors family” had left them with no choice but to rearrange the game for another date.

The Warriors promised to provide an update on Milojevic’s condition as soon “as appropriate” in a post via their social media account on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Dejan Milojevic’s influence behind the scenes

Milojevic joined the Warriors’ coaching staff in 2021 and added a championship title to his trophy cabinet when Golden State beat Boston in the NBA Finals in 2022.

During his playing career, Milojevic played in his native Serbia, Spain, Montenegro and Turkey, winning the Adriatic League’s Most Valuable Player award three times from 2004-06.

After retiring from basketball, he decided to turn to coaching in 2012 and served as head coach for KK Mega Basket in Serbia for eight seasons before moving to the United States.

It hasn’t been the best campaign by any means for the California-based franchise, proving to be one of the NBA’s biggest underachievers with a 18-22 record this season.

After their game against the Jazz was canceled, they are scheduled to face the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, although it remains to be seen whether that fixture will take place as they wait for further news on Milojevic’s condition.

  • Andrew Wiggins' career with the Warriors is seemingly hanging on by a thread

Andrew Wiggins' career with the Warriors is seemingly hanging on by a thread

The Golden State Warriors (15-16) are reportedly considering moving on from Andrew Wiggins, according to Tim Kawakami of The Athletic. His future with the team is seemingly hanging on by a thread, especially considering what general manager Mike Dunleavy said earlier this month.

Wiggins, 28, has been struggling this season after missing a lot of time last year. He was recently benched for Jonathan Kuminga and could soon be on the trade block.

Andrew Wiggins posts TikTok video saying: “I don’t give a f**k”

Warriors are currently 11th place in the Western Conference standings and Wiggins will have to improve before the February 8 trade deadline.

Wiggins is averaging 13 points and four rebounds, and has the worst scoring and 3-point shooting percentages of his career. His four-year, $109 million extension is too much for a bench player.

Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy sets ultimatum

Dunleavy, 43, was asked about how Draymond Green‘s indefinite suspension will affect the roster and he admitted the team’s record is of much more importance when it comes to making any moves.

“I think the bigger impact will be how we do the next 15, 20 games,” Dunleavy said on December 14. “That’ll probably determine where we go. … I don’t think I need any more evaluation of Draymond as a player. We need a little more evaluation of this team: the chemistry, the lineups and all that.

“I think we’re right there, but at some point, our record is going to have to change. We’re going to have to creep past .500 and start winning some games. And if not, we’ll have to re-evaluate.”

  • Murray scores 28, Jokic a perfect 18-of-18 from the free throw line as Nuggets beat Warriors 120-114

Murray scores 28, Jokic a perfect 18-of-18 from the free throw line as Nuggets beat Warriors 120-114

Jamal Murray scored 28 points, Nikola Jokic overcame an off day from the field by going 18 of 18 from the free throw line and the Denver Nuggets extended their winning streak to five games by holding off the Golden State Warriors 120-114 on Monday.

Jokic finished with 26 points despite going 4 of 12 from the floor. He set a career-high with his 18 made free throws. Jokic also had 14 rebounds and eight assists.

Last Christmas, the Nuggets big man erupted for 41 points, 15 rebounds and 15 assists in an overtime win over Phoenix.

It was a back-and-forth game that featured nine lead changes in the second half. Denver took a lead for good on Jokic’s left-handed hook shot with 5:16 remaining.

Andrew Wiggins gave the Warriors a boost by scoring 22 points as he returned to the floor after missing two games with an illness. Stephen Curry took a bit to warm up, not scoring until midway through the second quarter, but heated up late to finish with 18 points.

Golden State played on Christmas for an 11th straight year.

The Warriors moved to 5-2 since the indefinite suspension of Draymond Green after striking Phoenix center Jusuf Nurkic in the face. Warriors coach Steve Kerr said before the game that Green has mostly stayed away during his suspension. Kerr added that he has been in contact with the training staff and the coaches.

The combination of Kevon Looney and rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis took turns trying to frustrate Jokic, who didn’t have his customary touch around the basket. All five Denver starters scored in double figures, with Michael Porter Jr. and Aaron Gordon both posting double-doubles.

Denver coach Michael Malone showed up for his pregame media interview wearing a Nuggets-themed Christmas sweater. Being the son of a longtime NBA coach, Malone said some of his fondest memories were going to games on Dec. 25, particularly when his father was an assistant coach for the New York Knicks.

“No present under that tree would even match going to the Garden to watch Michael Jordan,” Malone said. “Every time he stepped foot in that arena, it was just magical.”

  • NBA suspends Draymond Green indefinitely after latest ejection incident

NBA suspends Draymond Green indefinitely after latest ejection incident

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green faces severe repercussions following his ejection from Tuesday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns. The NBA has announced an indefinite suspension for Green, marking a significant escalation in discipline for the player known for his intense on-court demeanor.

This latest ejection, caused by Green striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic, has been the tipping point in a series of contentious incidents involving Green. ESPN, which first reported the suspension, noted that this was Green’s 18th career ejection and his third this season in just 15 games. Remarkably, this means Green has been ejected from 20% of this season’s games.

Warriors have total meltdown during game against Suns: Green and Curry lash out in rage

Green is having a poor season with the Warriors

Two weeks prior, Green returned from a five-game suspension for a conflict involving Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert. During a scuffle, Green put Gobert in a chokehold, an action that led to his earlier suspension. Tuesday’s incident, where Green appeared to deliberately strike Nurkic, prompted an immediate foul call, escalating to a flagrant 2 and an automatic ejection.

The NBA cited Green’s “history of unsportsmanlike acts” when announcing his previous five-game suspension. With this latest incident, it seems the league is taking a firmer stance on Green‘s conduct.

Green’s behavior has increasingly come under scrutiny. Even at 33, he acknowledged the need for personal growth following the Gobert incident. However, Tuesday’s event suggests a troubling pattern of behavior. His suspensions are not just a personal challenge but also a setback for the Warriors, who are struggling to maintain a competitive edge this season. Currently in 11th place in the Western Conference, the team is already grappling with an aging core and underperforming young players.

With Green‘s absence, the Warriors face an uphill battle to improve their standings and make a significant impact in the playoffs. The suspension raises questions about the future of both Green and the Warriors, as they navigate this challenging phase in their journey.

  • Steve Kerr still sees Warriors as champions despite losses: Is he crazy?

Steve Kerr still sees Warriors as champions despite losses: Is he crazy?

Steve Kerr‘s contemplated lineup change did not materialize against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but after a disheartening 138-136 overtime loss, adjustments seem imminent for the struggling Golden State Warriors.

The defeat highlighted recurring issues, notably turnovers and defensive lapses leading to excessive fouls. The Warriors committed a staggering 29 turnovers, the highest this season and unprecedented in the Kerr era, revealing persistent carelessness and miscommunication.

Draymond Green blames himself for Warriors loss: I fucked that off

“Turnovers and fouls. I can just repeat it every game if you want,” Kerr said. “It’s turnovers and fouls, that’s what it comes down to.”

Despite a strong performance in three-point shooting, dominance on the offensive glass, and multiple players scoring in double figures, Golden State couldn’t overcome their defensive shortcomings.

    Couldn’t contain Thunder stars

Facing an aggressive Thunder offense, the Warriors allowed 36 free throws, showcasing their vulnerability in point-of-attack defense. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams capitalized on this weakness, drawing 21 of the 28 fouls against the Warriors.

“The fact is we’re playing one of the best teams in the league on their floor,” he added.

“We’re good enough. We’re good enough to win a championship-I believe that.

“This team. But if we’re gonna just turn it over and throw the ball to the other and foul over and over, we’re gonna lose. We know the formula. We just controlled that whole game on the road against a great team.”

Steph Curry and Draymond Green could not stop laughing after Klay Thompson joke on live tv

Last Thursday marked a remarkable day for the Golden State Warriors, not only because of a 120-114 win over the Clippers, but because of a peculiar detail in the calendar that coincided with the uniform numbers of the team’s dynastic trio.

November 30, 2023 lined up perfectly with the jersey numbers of key players: point guard Klay Thompson, iconic point guard Steph Curry and versatile forward Draymond Green.

The victory resounded with outstanding contributions from each: Curry racked up 26 points, seven rebounds and eight assists; Thompson contributed 22 points and six rebounds; while Green chipped in with 13 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Steph Curry and Draymond Green can’t stop laughing thanks to Klay Thompson

NBC Sports Bay Area commentator Bob Fitzgerald, along with former Warriors player and fellow commentator Kelenna Azubuike, were interviewing the players. Fitzgerald asked Thompson a question about a play in the fourth period, and Klay immediately returned the question to the announcer.

“Well, Bob, it only takes one, but more importantly, I didn’t know it was the fifth year they were together,” Thompson said. “When I was doing broadcasts with all of you, I didn’t know what it would look like in the future. I’m proud of you two. The chemistry you two are building is just like the three of us.”

The camera caught Curry and Green, immersed in laughter and commotion, couldn’t stop laughing after Thompson’s reflection.

The victory, in addition to the feat on the court, highlighted the enduring connection and camaraderie between these iconic players, a synergy that has defined not only their athletic success, but also their Warriors legacy.

  • Stephen Curry surpasses Magic Johnson and John Stockton's combined milestone

Stephen Curry surpasses Magic Johnson and John Stockton's combined milestone

Before Stephen Curry came into the scene, two point guards were always in the conversation as the best in NBA history. They are Magic Johnson and John Stockton, who have been amongst the most prolific point guards in the league’s history. The Lakers‘ legend won five NBA championships and basically saved a dying NBA through his historic rivalry against another great point guard, Larry Bird. Stockton didn’t get to win a championship because he always had Michael Jordan in front of him to prevent that. However, Stockton is hte all-time assist leader and the all-time steals leader in NBA history. Those two stats alone should tell you how important he was for the game.

Steph Curry’s insane trickshot that proves he’s not human

Stephen Curry’s stat surpasses Magic and Stockton combined

Stephen Curry is a different type of point guard, he is already considered the greatest shooter of all-time. The precision of his three-point aim is the stuff of legend, his ball handling is also on a different level. His 26 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists on Thursday. A performance that made him reach 325 career games with 25+ points and 5+ assists in his entire career. For comparison, Magic and Stockton combined had only 280 games with 25+ points nad 5+ assists. Although both legendary point guards still surpass Steph in different areas, we suspect Curry will be above both of them in many more stat lines when he decides to retire from the game.

Last Thursday, we also enjoyed an unusual and unique date that will never happen again and it also happened to fit perfectly with the Golden State Warriors‘ big three. It was 11/30/23, which are the jersey numbers of Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Golden State’s marketing team saw the opportunity to honor these three and they took it. Considering how much the Warriors have been struggling to win games in recent weeks, winning another championship this season still seems far away at this point. However, the season is only getting started with about 20 games played for all teams. We are still a long way from the Playoffs.

  • Scott Foster's beef with Chris Paul is personal and the NBA has to intervene

Scott Foster's beef with Chris Paul is personal and the NBA has to intervene

Golden State Warriors guard Chris Paul shed some light into his longtime feud with NBA official Scott Foster on Wednesday after the referee ejected him from the game against the Phoenix Suns in what became the latest episode of their ongoing beef.

Paul, 38, claimed the issues started when he played for the Los Angeles Clippers and revealed the reason was over his son. The veteran guard did not elaborate on the particular details of the moment, but admitted the NBA already tried to intervene.

‘It’s personal,’ Warriors star Chris Paul on ejection from ref Scott FosterLAPRESSE

Foster, 56, met with Paul, his dad, former Clippers head coach Doc Rivers and ex-referee Bob Delaney several years ago to find common ground.

The meeting evidently did not work and the numbers suggest Foster has become obsessed with hurting Paul’s career.

Since 2007, Paul’s teams have a 3-17 record in the postseason when Foster officiates, and are 73-56 in the playoffs with other referees.

Scott Foster has a dark past

Foster ejected Paul after back-to-back technical fouls for arguing about a foul. CP3 then called the ref a “bi–h” and repeated “he’s talking about my son” several times.

It’s time for the NBA to step in and plan the schedule for Paul to avoid Foster at all costs, especially considering his dark past.

Foster received 134 calls from disgraced referee Tim Donaghy between October 2006 and April 2007, when he was betting on games or providing gamblers with information.

Donaghy called Foster more times than the 126 calls made to his bookie, suggesting they could have been working together, though no further evidence has been found.
