  • Draymond Green goes on foul spree against Pelicans, Brandon Ingram has none of it

Draymond Green goes on foul spree against Pelicans, Brandon Ingram has none of it

Draymond Green is known to be a physical player that can sometimes play a bit too amped for his own good. Such may have been the case on Tuesday night, when the Golden State Warriors played the New Orleans Pelicans at Chase Center.

Towards the end of the second quarter, Green committed a foul over Brandon Ingram, with both players exchanging some words and shoves before being separated.

Less than 20 seconds later, Draymond Green was called for an offensive foul after running down the court for a fastbreak layup, with Herb Jones ending up tangled with Green on the floor. Then, a new scuffle broke out after what appeared to be a kick by the Warriors player, with Ingram once again responding to the hard foul by Green.

Gary Payton talked to Draymond Green after the game. The Warriors forward, after a more heated night than usual, still lent an ear to his veteran counterpart.

  • Steph Curry, Warriors get crucial 127-125 win over Doncic, Mavs

Steph Curry, Warriors get crucial 127-125 win over Doncic, Mavs

Stephen Curry scored 20 points and assisted on Draymond Green’s tiebreaking three-point play late, and the Golden State Warriors beat the Dallas Mavericks127-125 on Wednesday night in a game with considerable playoff implications.

Luka Doncic had 30 points after missing five games with a left thigh strain, but the Mavericks dropped below .500 as they try to stay out of the Western Conference play-in tournament a year after losing to the Warriors in the West finals.

The Mavericks were without All-Star guard Kyrie Irving because of right foot soreness and fell 1 1/2 games behind the Warriors, who clinched the tiebreaker by winning the season series 2-1.

Jonathan Kuminga scored 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting off the bench for Golden State, including a soaring, one-handed dunk during a tense fourth quarter.

Two nights after ending an 11-game road losing streak with a victory in Houston, the Warriors made it consecutive road victories for the first time since the NBA Finals last June.

Golden State went in front for good when Curry had one of his 13 assists on a layup and foul for Green, who made the free throw for a 123-120 lead with 1:32 remaining.

Doncic, who had 17 assists, had to attempt a desperation 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down at the other end.

Curry then dribbled out most of the clock before hitting a layup for a three-point lead with 8.5 seconds left, and Doncic missed a layup at the other end after a timeout.

Irving’s absence meant he and Doncic have played together in just half of the 18 games since Irving’s debut after the blockbuster trade that brought him from Brooklyn.

The Mavericks were also without guard Tim Hardaway Jr., who has sometimes started in Irving’s absence, because of a non-COVID-19 illness. Rookie guard Jaden Hardy scored 27 points for Dallas.

Golden State’s Anthony Lamb had a three-point play and a 3-pointer in an 8-0 spurt that broke a 103-all tie, but Hardy hit consecutive 3s to help Dallas get back to even at 113.

Jordan Poole scored 16 points, Donte DiVincenzo and Green had 14 apiece and Kevon Looney added 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Christian Wood scored 19 points for Dallas, and Reggie Bullock had 15 points with a meaningless 3-pointer at the final buzzer.

Steph Curry jokes live on TNT broadcast about Andre Iguodala’s golf game

He was ruled out of the game halfway through the fourth quarter. X-rays were reportedly negative and he’ll undergo MRI testing for further evaluation.

In his absence, Draymond Green stepped up with a few big shots, especially when Dallas threatened to cut the deficit back to single-digits.

Mavericks were without Luka Doncic, Christian Wood or Maxi Kleber, and it showed early on, trailing 23-40 after the opening frame.

Mavericks cut deficit, Warriors hold strong

They managed to cut the deficit to single digits in the second quarter before Golden State started draining everything to once again led by 15 at halftime.

With less than three minutes left to play in the final stanza, Spencer Dinwiddie once again made it a single-digit game (8) with a couple of free throws.

Green, 32, then blocked Finney-Smith’s attempt from deep, leading to a fast break that Jordan Poole nearly completed.

Tim Hardaway Jr. scored a triple to make it a five-point game after a successful challenge by head coach Jason Kidd kept Poole off the free throw line. Poole struggled all night, shooting 1-for-6 from the field for just three points in 27 minutes off the bench.

Kevon Looney wins it for Warriors vs. Mavericks

Kevon Looney managed to hit a couple shots from the charity stripe to ice the game after Golden State went over four minutes without scoring a single point.

  • NBA exec lifts the lid on LeBron James sensational possible trade to the Warriors

NBA exec lifts the lid on LeBron James sensational possible trade to the Warriors

We can only imagine how LeBron James feels as he realizes he has wasted the last two season and he is not doing great during this one with the Lakers. Inconsistent results have been the norm in Los Angeles despite James playing some of the best basketball of his career. Last season alone, he averaged more than 30 PPG at the age of 37. Not many veteran NBA stars can say they had the stats LeBron keeps putting on a consistent basis. His frustration is palpable and he must want to do somethign about it before his time runs out. A fresh report from an unnamed NBA executive might have the answer to his problems.

According to Heavy Sports’ Sean Deveney, an NBA executive told him that LeBron James could go to the Golden Stte Warriors in a sensational trade. Within that deal, Golden State may include young players like James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, or Pat Baldwin. But the potential deal wouldn’t be only for these still young prospects, this NBA executive revealed there’s a catch in this potentil trade. If the Lakers agree to release their biggest star, the Warriors would have to sacrifice one of theirs who is still young. The only two names that come to mind and fit this profile are either Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole.

LeBron James and Stephen Curry playing together?

Here’s what the NBA executive said: “If there is a bidding war going on at some point, the Warriors are in a great position because they can give you the young guys – [James] Wiseman or [Jonathan] Kuminga or [Moses] Moody, or [Pat] Baldwin, whoever the Lakers want. But you have to add either Poole or [Andrew] Wiggins, and that’s not easy. But if they want to win now, you can give up Poole if you are getting back LeBron, right? If they keep Draymond [Green] and come back with Steph [Curry], Klay Thompson, Draymond and LeBron, that would be a fun, fun team to watch.”

Even though Stephen Curry has previously dismissed the possibility of playing with LeBron James, it’s unclear what he would say now that this wild report has come out. NBA executives don’t just say these things out of a whim. When these powerful people talk about potential trades, it’s because they do know something is going on. The potential LeBron James partnership with the Splash Brothers and Draymond Green should be more than enough reason for Warriors fans to get hyped AF. Don’t you agree? Whether this resport turns out to be true or not, it is clear that LeBron James is not having a great time at the Lakers right now.

  • Celtics and Nuggets keep pace… with the awakening of Warriors and Lakers?

Celtics and Nuggets keep pace… with the awakening of Warriors and Lakers?

Aside from Luka Doncic‘s historic display, the two teams leading the NBA in the conferences maintained their winning momentum. In the East, the Boston Celtics. In the West, the Denver Nuggets.

Boston, which was no match for the inconsistent Houston Rockets (126-102), continues to rely on the inspiration of what may be considered the best duo in the NBA: Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

The Nuggets in the West are on a roll. They have won five in a row, and against the Sacramento Kings (106-113) they did not need the most devastating Jokic (20+11+9) and his final rush in the last period tipped the scales. Porter Jr. with 30 points proved fundamental.

    The awakening in California?

The West Coast also experienced an awakening, one that is ongoing, as the Golden State Warriors without Stephen Curry are, little by little, building streaks. While their 14-2 home record is the best in the NBA, it is vital for the champions that the non-stellar players at the beginning of the year gain confidence.

And then there are the Lakers. Their 51 points against in the third quarter on Christmas Day seemed like the nail in the coffin of the season, but from that weakness they have drawn strength. LeBron James is still in dominating mode, and scored 28 points, supported by Westbrook’s triple-double with 15+13+13. They are 14-20 in the standings, three points away from the Play-IN.
