    The incident was sparked by Bairstow’s displeasure over Gill sledging James Anderson about his fatigue during India’s first innings. While doing so Bairstow also reminded Gill was of his dismissal to Anderson.

    “What did you say to Jimmy about getting tired and he got you out after that?,” said Bairstow.

    Gill showcased an exceptional performance before his departure, contributing a remarkable 110 runs to the team’s total. His partnership with captain Rohit Sharma for the first wicket further strengthened the team’s position, amassing an impressive 171 runs. Gill’s innings, consisting of 150 balls, was a display of skill and aggression, adorned with 12 fours and five sixes. Unfortunately, his innings came to an end when he was cleanly bowled by Anderson, but not before leaving a significant impact on the match.

    Former England skipper Nasser Hussain is disappointed with the team’s batting performance in the ongoing India tour. Ever since Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum (head coach) took over the charge of the Test side, the team has played an aggressive brand of cricket in the longest format of the game, but their tactics didn’t work against India, as they are currently trailing 3-1 in the series. In the ongoing series finale at Dharamsala, the Stokes-led side once again struggled with the bat as they were bundled out for just 218 in the first innings.

    Voicing his concerns over the matter, Hussain stated that the visitors need to look at their own game and stop hiding behind Bazball. He pointed out that opener Zak Crawley is getting good starts but failed to convert those and the same can be said for Jonny Bairstow, whose counter-attacking cricket only helped him score 199 runs so far.

    “I think with the batting approach, England players need to look at their own games and try to improve.     Ben Stokes has hardly contributed with the bat: Hussain

    The former cricketer also pointed out that the visiting batters have struggled with the bat, and the conditions had very little part to play in this. He added that skipper Stokes barely contributed with the bat as he failed to read Kuldeep Yadav, who has been a match-winner for the hosts in the ongoing series.

    “Zak Crawley has batted better but has been out between 50-80 the sixth time, Jonny Bairstow trying to counterattack getting to twenty-thirty and getting out.     “Whatever coach, skipper or anyone suggests, the most important suggestion is for England batters to look upon themselves rather than listening to others. Hopefully, by the end of the tour, England players will look upon themselves and will stop hiding behind bazball,” the former cricketer added.

The 26-year-old announced his arrival in international cricket in style scoring the joint second-fastest half-century by an India batter on debut in just 48 balls. The Mumbai-born batter couldn’t take his innings beyond 62 (66) as he got involved in an unfortunate run out with Ravindra Jadeja.

    However, the day was a memorable one for Sarfaraz and his entire family as his father Naushad Khan and wife Romana Zahoor were cheering him from the stands during his entire innings. Notably, Sarfaraz got married to Romana on August 06 2023 in Jammu and Kashmir and was delighted to embark on a new chapter of his life in the valley.

Notably, Romana was seen in tears as Sarfaraz was presented his debut cap by legendary India wrist spinner Anil Kumble and her tears were wiped off by her husband.

    Sarfaraz Khan’s father kissed his son’s debut cap

    His father also couldn’t hold back his emotions and was consoled by his son who showed him the cap. In a heartfelt gesture, Sarfaraz’s father Naushad kissed his son’s India cap and wished him luck for his debut. After the end of the day’s play, Sarfaraz also got a surprise video call from his brother Musheer Khan who recently played for India in the Under-19 World Cup 2024.
