Inter Miami can't stop winning without Messi, claim 3rd straight victory with Leo at Copa America

When Lionel Messi is not there, it is Jordi Alba who is in charge of scoring the great goals for Inter Miami and this Saturday he scored an epic goal that could well be nominated for the Puskas Award during the match against Nashville SC in a Major League Soccer match (MLS).

The United States League does not stop even for the celebration of the Copa Amrica 2024 in the American Union and the leader of the competition played a match without some of its stars that ended with a 2-1 victory to confirm its position as the best of the moment.

Jordi Alba scored the second goal before ending the second half with a volley from outside the area that embedded itself in the Nashville goal.

It was not over there and Miami pulled it off

It all stemmed from a corner kick from the right that was cleared by the defense and ended up at the feet of Jordi Alba. The Spanish midfielder accommodated the ball with his chest and shot from distance with power, although not so angled in a shot in which goalkeeper Joe Willis.

Inter Miami added its third victory in a row and its thirteenth so far this season after beating Nashville 2-1 this Saturday.

Ian Fray was in charge of opening the scoring in the 40th minute and almost at the end of the first half came Jordi Alba’s great goal to increase the advantage. Hany Mukhtar put the discount for Nashville from the penalty spot.

  • Romelu Lukaku ghosted Lautaro Martinez and upset Inter Milan teammates with Juventus transfer talks

Romelu Lukaku ghosted Lautaro Martinez and upset Inter Milan teammates with Juventus transfer talks

It’s been a turbulent time for Romelu Lukaku ever since the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar began.

First came rumors of discord among his Belgium national team teammates. Then came Lukaku’s disastrous final group stage game against Croatia in which he missed countless scoring chances that could have sent Belgium into the knockout stage.

To top off last season, Lukaku once again wasted several scoring opportunities in the 2023 Champions League final, which Manchester City eventually won by just one goal.

Video | Strikers who were a disappointment in the 2022-2023 season

Despite the disappointing end to the season for Inter Milan, Lukaku had helped the Nerazzurri reach the final with solid performances and was expected to stay in Milan on a permanent move from Chelsea. But when Inter caught wind of Lukaku negotiating a possible deal with fierce rival Juventus, they pulled out of negotiations.

Lukaku’s future is now up in the air, but remaining with Inter Milan appears to be out of the question. Even more so now that club captain Lautaro Martinez has publicly denounced Lukaku’s behavior towards the club and his teammates.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentinian striker said this:

I was disappointed, it’s the truth. I also tried to call him in those days of chaos, he never answered me, the same he did with my other teammates. After so many years together, after so many things lived together, I was disappointed. But it’s his choice. I wish him the best. But I didn’t expect this attitude.

If the captain of the team is saying that, you clearly did something wrong. Not to mention Lukaku and Martinez seemed to have a special on-field relationship, and appeared to be genuine friends off the pitch. Lukaku had even attended Martinez’s wedding in May.

    Lautaro stays loyal to Inter

In the same interview, Martinez revealed that he received big offers from Saudi Arabian clubs, but decided to reject them all.

It’s true, the huge proposals have arrived. But I’m happy at Inter and happy in Milan. I have no reason to change and my family thinks like me. I’m the captain here, Inter is my second home. I feel loved here since day one and I’m proud to be here. It’s a lot of money, but in the end it depends on the person.

At 25 years old, “El Toro” is coming off of a season in which he won the World Cup with Argentina and led his club to the Champions League final. Lukaku might be missed at Inter, but they have a star leading their attack.

  • A far superior Inter are crowned Supercoppa Italiana champions

A far superior Inter are crowned Supercoppa Italiana champions

Inter made light work of AC Milan in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday night as they hammered the Serie A champions to be crowned Supercoppa Italiana winners without ever needing to break into a sweat.

The Coppa Italia champions were streets ahead of the Rossoneri on the night, and Stefano Pioli‘s side were unable to even get close enough to them to land a blow. In Saudi Arabia, they looked to be on a completely different level to one another, and it did not look like Milan came into the game as the better-placed in the Serie A table and as Italian champions.

Federico Dimarco opened the scoring early on as he was assisted by the brilliant Nicolo Barella. The midfielder broke through on the right and beat Theo Hernandez before playing a perfect ball across the box. Then, Dimarco arrived right on time to send a finish into what was to all intents and purposes an open goal.

Once ahead, Inter never looked as though they were going to be pegged back, and Milan were non-existent for much of the game. The Rossoneri were overrun in midfield, and Sandro Tonali had a particularly poor game for Pioli‘s side.

Edin Dzeko scored a classy second to show that age remains nothing but a number for him, elegantly turning in the box and leaving Tonali for dead before coolly finishing across goal and into the bottom corner.

Once Inter were two goals to the good, the game was done and Milan‘s race was run.

    Lautaro’s good form

Despite having a poor World Cup, world champion Lautaro Martinez hashed a great start to 2023 with Inter, and that continued on Wednesday. He easily shrugged off Fikayo Tomori to go through and bag a third for Inter, leaving the English defender humiliated.

That was where the scoring stopped and Simone Inzaghi and Inter were left celebrating yet more silverware, piling pressure onto an underperforming AC Milan.
