Xander Bogaerts says he's a fan of Chicharito and a big football fan

Javier Hernandez is one of the most popular football players in the United States and his fans include athletes from other sports, such as shortstop Xander Bogaerts, who declared himself one of his biggest supporters.

During a chat in which Bogaerts was answering questions about the atmosphere in San Diego, the ‘X-Man’ was asked about to deliver a message for the fans in Mexico, given the fact that the Padres will play the San Francisco Giants in a pair of regular season games at Mexico City’s Alfredo Harp Helu Stadium.

Viva Chicharito! I’m a big football fan, I love football. I was watching the World Cup last year, so I know a lot about football and it’s one of the best sports they have,” said Bogaerts.

He follows Curacao in the Caribbean Series

As well as being a football fan, Bogey also keeps an eye on what Curacao is doing, being born in Aruba, another of the Netherlands’ territories in the Caribbean.

“I know Mexico lost to Curaao in the Caribbean Series; I think they lost 2-1. I also know that Curacao has surprised a lot of teams in the tournament,” Bogaerts added.

“They’re in their first tournament as a guest, and that’s another thing we can get excited about for the World Baseball Classic, because some of those images we’re going to see in the Classic.”

    Tatis plans to ‘redeem himself

The laughter and smiles are starting to return and so is fan adulation for Fernando Tatis Jr., at least in San Diego.

Still serving an 80-game suspension after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug, the superstar was warmly received at FanFest on Saturday as thousands of fans packed Petco Park for a preview of the most anticipated season in Padres history.

Tatis received sustained applause when he was introduced before a panel discussion that also featured fellow all-stars Manny Machado, Juan Soto and the newly signed Bogaerts.

“I love you San Diego. … I’m not leaving here for a long time,” Tatis told the crowd, to more applause.

This season will be a redemption tour for Tatis, one of baseball’s biggest stars whose entire 2022 season was wiped out by a wrist injury and then the aforementioned suspension. He was about to return from left wrist surgery when the MLB suspended him on Aug. 12. He missed the Padres’ thrilling run to the National League Championship Series, where they lost to the Philadelphia Phillies.

“I’ve missed it a lot,” Tatis said during a news conference earlier in the day.

“I mean, I missed a year. I’m not looking forward to missing any more. It feels great to be out there again.”

The Upper East Side of New York might soon have a couple of celebrities living at a lavish penthouse, according to Gimme Shelter. Justin Verlander and Kate Upton are set to buy the five bath, four bedroom property in Beckford Tower, which had a last asking price of $16.75 million.

This would certainly make sense since the two-time World Series champion pitcher signed a two year deal with the NL East team which will pay him $86 million or around $450,000 per week.

Kate Upton and Justin Verlander’s penthouse on Upper East Side has panoramic views to the East River and Central Park, with huge windows and a terrace that connects to their eat-in chef’s kitchen.

The main room also has a terrace.

The two met back in 2012 while filming a commercial for the MLB’s video game, having a relationship that went back and forth for a couple of years until they married in Italy in 2017.

The couple recently sold their Beverly Hills mansion to actor Timothe Chalamet for $11 million dollars this past May.
