[Watch] IPL 2025: DC hilariously award Mohit Sharma for his ‘special’ single after beating LSG in IPL 2025

The Delhi Capitals (DC) were spotted having a chilled dressing room after their scintillating win against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2025. The management collectively decided and gave Mohit Sharma an award for the ‘special’ single he took during the last over of the game. That single was extremely important to bring the set man, Ashutosh Sharma, on the strike.

While receiving the award, Captain Axar Patel was seen making a few comments on the award. He was simply making fun of Mohit for winning the award to take a single. DC shared a video on their social media account where Axar said, “Single ke liye bhi award milta hai kya? Bol raha hai beesve over mein keh raha hai ghum gaya. Unees over dekhe nai tune?” Then somebody from the background said, “Jalta hai majnu, ise nai mila.”

It was an incredible game of cricket as DC showcased a stunning comeback from a tough position. They chased down a target of 210 runs, which is their highest run-chase in the league’s history. Under captain Axar Patel, DC has a chance to create history by winning their maiden IPL title as they have a balanced side.

    Watch the video below:

However, it will be intriguing to see how Axar and the team carry their winning momentum in the upcoming games. Ashutosh Sharma will surely be the player to watch out for in the tournament because of the kind of batting he does in the middle overs. This isn’t the first time he played such an innings.

Get used to it now: Axar Patel

Skipper Axar Patel is filled with pride and confidence in the tournament after winning the first game against LSG. Following the game, Axar started his post-match presentation speech with the line, ‘Get used to it now.’ The captain scored a brilliant cameo of 22 runs off 11 balls in the game.

Get used to it now. It’s going to be like this only under my captaincy, things will be up and down a little. Now that we have won, people won’t complain about why I gave that over to Stubbs. Don’t remember the last time I saw something like this. The way they played in the first six overs, we felt we gave a few too many early on,” said Axar Patel at the post-match presentation.

Twitter erupts as Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmad help Gujarat Titans pull off miraculous win over Lucknow Super Giants – IPL 2023

The 30th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 turned out to be a nail-biting thriller where Gujarat Titans (GT) pulled off a miraculous win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Ekana Stadium on Saturday.

Batting first, the Titans started their innings on a good note with Wriddhiman Saha scoring 47 runs off 37 balls, including 6 fours. However, Shubman Gill failed to score any runs, and it was left to Hardik Pandya to lead the charge with a brilliant 66 runs off 50 balls, which included 4 sixes as the Titans managed to put up a total of 135/6 in their 20 overs.

The Super Giants’ bowling attack was led by Krunal Pandya, who picked up 2 wickets for just 16 runs. Marcus Stoinis also chipped in with 2 scalps, while Naveen-ul-Haq and Amit Mishra picked up 1 wicket each.

In response, Lucknow began their innings on a positive note, with KL Rahul scoring a brilliant 68 runs off 61 balls, which included 8 fours. However, he didn’t get enough support from the other end, and the Super Giants fell short by 7 runs, scoring 128/7 in their 20 overs.

For the Titans, Noor Ahmad and Mohit Sharma picked up 2 wickets each, while Rashid Khan and Mohammed Shami bagged 1 wicket each.

‘Need to make sure the game doesn’t go so deep’ – Skipper Hardik Pandya after GT’s six-wicket win over PBKS in Mohali

After a six-wicket win over Punjab Kings in the ongoing IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans’ skipper Hardik Pandya admitted that his team should have chased down the target much before the final over. Instead, they took the game deep and were in trouble at one point, but Rahul Tewatia once again proved to be an important asset for the Titans at the death.

Meanwhile, analysing their performance after the match, Pandya mentioned that there was much to learn from the game. He expressed his desire to finish the game early and believed that the team needed to go back to the drawing board to figure things out. The 29-year-old also pointed out that GT batters must take more risk in the middle overs.

“To be very honest, I would not appreciate the game to go this close from the situation we were in. There was definitely a lot for us to learn from this game. That’s the beauty of sports, it’s never over till it’s over. We need to go back to the drawing board. They bowled really well. Luckily all our batters are in good nick. We should take risks and play shots in the middle overs; need to make sure the game doesn’t go so deep,” Pandya said in the post-match presentation.

Pandya lauded Mohit Sharma for his influential performance

The skipper also praised veteran pacer Mohit Sharma who made his first IPL appearance in three years. In 2022, he was a part of the side as a net bowler, but for the 2023 season, the defending champions signed him during the auction, and in his debut match for the franchise, Mohit picked up two wickets, giving away just 18 runs in four overs.

Thus, Pandya was impressed with his performance and along with him, he also gave credit to West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph, who picked up one wicket and gave away 32 runs in his four overs.

“The wicket was good but because of the hardness of the soil and wicket, the ball was getting dried up. It was a belter when the new ball was playing. I was not surprised when Mohit and Alzarri came. They bowled terrific. Credit to Mohit to come join us as a net bowler and then wait for his chance, knowing his time will come and today it came,” Pandya said.

Twitter reactions: Mohit Sharma, Shubman Gill guide Gujarat Titans to crucial win over Punjab Kings in IPL 2023

In a closely contested match at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, the Gujarat Titans (GT) emerged victorious over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets.

After winning the toss, the Titans elected to bowl first, and the Kings struggled to build momentum, only managing to post a total of 153/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Matthew Short top-scored for the Kings with 36 runs off 24 deliveries, while Jitesh Sharma and Shahrukh Khan contributed 25 and 22 runs respectively.

In response, the Titans got off to a solid start with Wriddhiman Saha scoring 30 runs off 19 balls. However, it was Shubman Gill‘s impressive knock of 67 runs off 49 deliveries that proved to be the difference-maker, guiding the Titans to victory with five balls to spare. The Kings bowlers struggled to contain the Titans’ batting, with Kagiso Rabada, Harpreet Brar, and Arshdeep Singh all taking one wicket each.

“I have had a good time at this venue. I thought of sticking to my variations, had a chat with Hardik in the middle overs, luckily it paid off. You need to train hard, give your 100 percent. Need to bowl according to the situation, and stick to the basics. I was given a role to bowl after 10 overs. Credit goes to the coach who has defined everyone’s role in the team,” said Mohit after the game.
