  • Ben Affleck would 'absolutely not' direct a DC film for producer James Gunn

Ben Affleck would 'absolutely not' direct a DC film for producer James Gunn

Back when James Gunn took over DC Studios, he started axing many of the main characters of the previous main storyline. He famously fired Henry Cavill after the actor appeared in the ‘Black Adam’ post credits scene. Gunn also had a major disagreement with Dwayne Johnson and also told Ben Affleck he wouldn’t play Batman anymore after his appearance in ‘The Flash’ movie. But he did leave the door open for Ben Affleck to direct a DC film with him as the lead producer. Until Thursday, we all believed Ben would entertain this idea and possibly lend his directing skills for a new project in this new landscape.

But it’s safe to say Ben Affleck’s experience in the DCEU hasn’t been a pleasant ride, he actually been miserable for the majority of his journey. In terms of his talent to direct, he already proved himself with ‘ARGO’, which gave him the Academy Award for dorecting. In fact, Affleck was slated to direct a Batman film before Matt Reeves took over. The entire ‘Justice League’ experience was unbearable for almost everybody and Affleck just revealed the horrible after taste he got from it. In a Hollywood Reporter interview, Ben went into detail of how he drank all the time during prodution and how much he hated that period of his life.

    Ben Affleck contradicts James Gunn

But the most interesting part of this long interview was the part where he doesn’t hesitate to reveal he will not direct a DCU film under James Gunn’s watch. Here’s what he said: “I would not direct something for the [James] Gunn DC. Absolutely not. I have nothing against James Gunn. Nice guy, sure he’s going to do a great job. I just wouldn’t want to go in and direct in the way they’re doing that. I’m not interested in that. I was going to direct a ‘Batman,’ and [‘Justice League’] made me go, ‘I’m out. I never want to do any of this again. I’m not suited’. That was the worst experience I’ve ever seen in a business which is full of some shitty experiences. It broke my heart.”

  • Ke Huy Quan and Harrison Ford, the emotional Indiana Jones reunion you didn't know you needed

Ke Huy Quan and Harrison Ford, the emotional Indiana Jones reunion you didn't know you needed

Ke Huy Quan is over the moon today as he won Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars and got to hug and kiss his Indiana Jones co-star Harrison Ford. The Temple of Doom duo were together on stage while Ford was presenting the Best Film Award.

After he presented the award for Best Film, Ford was as cool, calm, and collected as usual, however, once he announced that Everything Everywhere All at Once was the winner, he was visibly happy.

Right away, Ka Huy Quan rushed to the stage along with Michelle Yeoh, who won Best Lead Actress, Jamie Lee Curtis, who won Best Supporting Actress, both Daniels, Kwan, and Scheinert who won best director(s), and rest of the winners who celebrated their statue for Best Editing, Best Original Screenplay, totaling 7 wins.

While everyone was getting to the stage, Ka Huy Quan quickly got there before and ran to hug and kiss his co-star.

As many recall, Ka Huy Quan played his first role as ‘Short Round’, Indiana Jones’ sidekick in ‘The Temple of Doom’ back in 1984, later to join the cast of the Goonies in 1985.

While hugging Harrison Ford, Quan was very emotional and thanked him for everything and could not contain all his energy.

Meanwhile, Producer Jonathan Wang stepped into the forefront of the stage to accept the award saying that “This feels incredible. There is no movie without our brilliant and big-hearted cast and crew. But not just these beautiful souls here. Also up there, and in Little Tokyo, we see you. So this award is ours.”

And while thanking everyone he took a line of the movie to dedicate it to his “brilliant and beautiful wife Annie, If all this shiny stuff and tuxedos goes away I would just love to do laundry and taxes with you for the rest of my life.”

Then he proceeded to thank the directors, “I don’t know what to say. I love you guys. You just won Best Picture.”

  • Hugh Grant ends cringey red carpet interview with eye roll at 2023 Oscars

Hugh Grant ends cringey red carpet interview with eye roll at 2023 Oscars

Despite being one of Hollywood’s most lauded actors, Hugh Grant is not known for being a good sport on movie sets or media appearances. And it showed with the most awkward of interviews at the 2023 Oscars red carpet.

The Notting Hill actor gave Ashley Graham an interview, although it’s unclear why he even volunteered. Graham asked Grant very standard questions, although it didn’t come off that way given his responses.

Hugh Grant’s uncomfortable interview at the 2023 Oscars

Graham first asked Grant what his favorite part of the Oscars is, to which he replied: “It’s fascinating, all of humanity is here. It’s vanity fair.” The co-host then added: “It’s all about Vanity Fair, that’s where we let loose and have a little bit of fun”.

Hugh Grant was then asked if he was looking forward to seeing anyone win: “No one in particular”. The interview then got more and more awkward when he was asked what or which designer he was wearing: “Just my suit”.

“You didn’t make the suit”, Graham joked, “who made it?” To which Hugh Grant added: “I can’t remember my tailor”.

Grant finished his interview with Graham with an eye roll

The final question came with the interviewer asking Grant if he enjoyed being in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The British actor then put the cherry on top with his most uncomfortable exchange yet: “I was barely in it, I was in it for just three seconds”.

Graham then won the non-official award for best actress for sending Hugh Grant with the following statement: “It was nice talking to you”. Grant, meanwhile, showed he didn’t want to be there and left giving a massive eye-roll.

  • Richard Williams' pre-Oscars message: It's time for everyone to forgive Will Smith

Richard Williams' pre-Oscars message: It's time for everyone to forgive Will Smith

The father of tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams has spoken out in support of Will Smith and urged people to forgive him for the slap on Chris Rock at the Oscars.

Richard Williams has a vested interest in Smith at the moment as the actor played him in the Oscar-winning film ‘King Richard’.

It is very rare for Williams to be heard in interviews, but he wanted to defend Smith after the actor received widespread criticism and abuse for his actions at the Academy Awards last year.

Smith took issue with a joke that Chris Rock made on stage at the expense of his wife and it led to Smith shouting at Rock and then hitting him in the face.

    Richard Williams defends Will Smith

Williams explained when on Good Morning Britain that he doesn’t feel sorry for Chris Rock after what happened.

“I think he has done the best thing he needed to do, but I would never be disgusted with Mr Smith,” he said of the actor’s response.

“I don’t see nothing wrong with [what he did].

“As a matter of fact, I appreciate Mr Smith.

“I don’t feel sorry for no one.

“It’s time for everyone to forgive Will Smith.

“I’m 81 years old, but, when I was about 51 years or younger, I almost killed any damn one, so I think Mr Smith has done a great deal not to.”

Williams would like to see Smith‘s ban from the Oscars lifted so that he can attend the next ceremony and any others after that.

  • Ben Affleck presents movie about Michael Jordan: 'He transcends rivalry'

Ben Affleck presents movie about Michael Jordan: 'He transcends rivalry'

Ben Affleck was 12 years old in 1984 and growing up in the Boston area.

    The Celtics were NBA champions.

The Red Sox and Patriots were respectable.

The Bruins got swept in the first round of the playoffs.

And that also was when Nike was betting much of its future on Michael Jordan.

Part of that tale will be told in the upcoming film “Air,” which Affleck directed and stars in alongside Matt Damon, Viola Davis, Jason Bateman and more.

Affleck plays Nike co-founder Phil Knight, and Damon plays then-Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro – who was tasked with finding a way of saving what was then the company’s fledgling basketball division.

Affleck did it with one key character absent: Jordan is not shown in the movie.

Nike wound up signing Jordan – who had yet to play an NBA game – to a $2.5 million, five-year deal.

It was a huge gamble but it worked out.

Jordan Brand generated $4.7 billion in revenue in 2021, the Jumpman logo is iconic, Nike has become one of the world’s most powerful and recognizable companies, and Jordan won six NBA championships, became a billionaire, and now owns the Charlotte Hornets.

The trailer, released last week, is up to 6 million views.
