Richarlison can do nothing right at Tottenham – he’s destined for Saudi switch

Richarlison’s Tottenham woes have gone from bad to worse and all signs point towards a summer transfer to Saudi Arabia.

That’s the view of his ex-Watford teammate Troy Deeney, who has stated that ‘something’s gone wrong’ for the 27-year-old in north London.

    5

The Brazilian joined Spurs from Everton in a deal rising to £60million in 2022 having scored 53 goals in 152 games for the Toffees.

But he has never got going at Tottenham, with the striker boasting almost as many injuries [ten] as he has Premier League goals [14].

Having already missed 27 matches this term due to numerous setbacks, Richarlison looks set for another spell on the sidelines after picking up a calf issue in Wednesday’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg.

Boss Ange Postecoglou declared after the brutal loss that the player was left ’emotional’ over his latest injury, admitting that it ‘didn’t look too good’.

His continued struggles has led to uncertainty over his long-term future at Spurs ahead of a potential exit in the next transfer window.

Assessing Richarlison’s time at Tottenham so far, Deeney, who played alongside him at Vicarage Road in the 2017/18 season, told talkSPORT.com: “I feel sorry for him.

“There’s something clearly going wrong. He can’t seem to stay fit.

“He started the game [vs Liverpool] OK, and then ran into the channel and his calf just popped instantly.

“It’s a shame, like I say, something’s gone wrong there [at Spurs].

“Because at Watford he played 18 [12] months in a row, at Everton he played more or less every game – he was a leader for them.

“He then goes to Spurs and he just can’t seem to stay fit and I don’t really know what the answer is.”

And when pressed whether the player should depart north London to recapture his form, Deeney insisted there’s only one place Richarlison can go.

He remarked: “I think he is going to have to leave, because where does he go?

“It’s sad to say, but if you haven’t done it at Spurs, he’s probably going to end up going Saudi, somewhere like that.

“[He can] make a few quid for himself, but he needs to stay fit and available.

    “It’s a shame because he’s a good player, he’s a very good boy and a nice lad.”

Richarlison averages a goal ever four-and-a-half games in north London

Richarlison was heavily linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia last year, but snubbed a move despite the riches on offer, declaring: “The money is big, but my dreams are bigger.”

It’s been a difficult 2025 for Tottenham so far having lost five times already, with their trophy drought threatening to enter an 18th year.

And things don’t get any easier for Spurs on Sunday as they face Aston Villa away in the FA Cup fourth round.

Some Spurs fans are calling for the axing of Postecoglou, and Deeney has acknowledged that the Australian will be on thin ice should they be defeated in the Midlands.

He stated: “I don’t think he will get sacked after that game. If they lose to Manchester United [February 16], I think he’s in all sorts of pressure.

“Because at the start of this week they were in three competitions and looking to get players back to finish the season strong and finish in the top ten.

HAAAS ANYONE SEEN TOTTENHAM! Jason Cundy mocks Jamie O’Hara & Spurs after getting battered by Liverpool!

“I think if he loses the semi-final [vs Liverpool], loses in the FA Cup and then loses to Man United, they could be like 16th [in table], they could be in the bottom four.

“I just think they’re going to have to really step it up, and would you trust the manager if you’re the owner at that point?

“I don’t think it’s the right decision [to sack Postecoglou], I think it’s more on the players to step up now and a lot needs to be looked at at Tottenham as an organisation.”

Fans in stitches at Van Dijk and Richarlison incident you may have missed

Virgil van Dijk’s brutal gesture to Richarlison reminded fans the Liverpool captain is a cold-blooded phenom.

With the Reds down 1-0 on aggregate to Tottenham going into the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, Van Dijk and his teammates knew they needed a fast start in the second leg at Anfield.

    3

Very few would have anticipated that type of start would have included some serious displays of ruthless physicality from Liverpool.

As is often the case with captains, Van Dijk certainly led the way on the physical front.

Unfortunately for Tottenham’s Richarlison, he bore the brunt of it as early as the third minute.

Van Dijk and Richarlison tussled for the ball but it looked like the forward would spin away from his marker.

But Van Dijk wasn’t about to let that happen and clattered into the Tottenham ace by shifting his entire body weight into the Brazilian.

However, vision appeared to show Van Dijk had thudded his elbow into Richarlison’s chest as he went down in pain.

Luckily for Van Dijk, the incident was checked and cleared by VAR.

Yet it was a separate flashpoint between the two that had fans in stitches on social media.

Richarlison was once again bundled to the ground by Van Dijk, this time from behind.

The Liverpool skipper offered his hand to help up his rival, but just as Richarlison reached out his hand, Van Dijk pulled back and ran away.

A handful of football supporters on X noticed the moment and offered hilarious reactions.

One user posted: “Van Dijk’s absolutely done Richarlison.”

Another said: “Van Dijk clowning Richarlison is absolutely brilliant.”

One wrote: “Van Dijk did Richarlison dirty.”

Unfortunately for Richarlison, his game lasted just 45 minutes as he was taken off after he went down to the ground.

Richarlison’s exit did herald the arrival of electric French talent Mathys Tel for his Tottenham debut.

Gakpo got Liverpool back into the tie to cap off a dominant first half

The Brazilian’s substitution came after Cody Gakpo struck in the 34th minute to put Liverpool ahead on the night and level the tie at 1-1.

Gakpo’s goal was a just reward for the host’s efforts in the opening half as they took 11 shots to Tottenham’s one.

Arne Slot’s side have also enjoyed 73 per cent possession, with the visitors having to repel wave after wave of Liverpool attacks.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, Gakpo’s was the first of four goals conceded as Liverpool booked their spot in a third Carabao Cup final in four years.

Ange safe for now… as ‘embarrassing’ Spurs’ rescue plan revealed, replacements touted – UK View

Ange Postecoglou’s job is seemingly safe for now — though Spurs’ reported rescue package for their Australian manager is meagre.

Reports out of the British press suggest that Tottenham are sticking with the Australian as they focus their energies on signing “at least one player” before the January transfer window is shut.

It appeared as if Postecoglou’s time may have been up after their 2-1 home defeat to relegation-threatened Leicester City, who had lost seven straight matches coming in, on Sunday.

Spurs sit a lowly 15th on the Premier League table, winless in their last seven matches and picking up just four points in their last ten league fixtures.

The faithful are growing restless with Postecoglou stopping to express his displeasure at one fan who repeatedly shouted “we’re going down with you” as he headed down the race with boos echoing after the full-time whistle.

Postecoglou then responded to a question about whether he thinks he will still be at the helm when Spurs’ plethora of injured stars return to the park, with “who knows”.

It was the first time the former Socceroos and Celtic boss and publicly showed the writing may be on the wall, especially given Tottenham’s history of discarding managers.

Chairman Daniel Levy has had 16 managers in his 24 years in charge.

But with Tottenham’s injury crisis showing few signs of improving, Levy is reportedly changing tack and giving Postecoglou more time than he afforded the likes of Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte when things went pear shaped.

Tottenham’s injury list has been in double digits for several weeks with Postecoglou unable to fill his entire bench against Leicester as James Maddison joined the casualty ward.

Goal scorer Richarlison also should have come off at half time with a groin issue, while the manager admitted Pape Sarr should not have played after picking up an injury in their mid-week Europa League victory against German outfit Hoffenheim.

With the medical team working over time, the lack of activity in the current transfer window has been perplexing.

Goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky arrived from Slavia Prague for £12.5 million to cover for first-choice shot stopper Guglielmo Vicario who fractured his right ankle in Spurs’ 4-0 win at Manchester City in November.

But Kinsky is the only January signing so far, despite Postecoglou crying out for more outfield talent, especially in defence.

The most frustrating thing for Tottenham fans is that they have the money to chase new signings.

The Mirror’s Conor Mummery wrote that “Spurs have one of the lowest wages to turnover ratio in the league at 42 per cent. They have the biggest PSR [profit and sustainability rules] headroom in the league.

“And Daniel Levy and Co have sat on their hands all month and watched their club slide down the league table, picking up more injuries along the way with Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie and Yves Bissouma joining the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario on the sidelines.”

    Ange Postecoglou’s fiery fan interaction | 00:20

Those figures are why the fans have turned on Levy, and it appears he believes he would do further damage to his reputation by sacking another manager at this point in time.

Football.London’s Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold shed light on how strained the relationship has become between the owner and the fan base.

“It’s embarrassing no doubt for Levy to hear the loudest chants yet in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – his crowning glory – from thousands of supporters for him to leave his position at the helm of the club. The post-match music was cranked up loudly – Spurs fans have heard that before – but it could not drown out the chants during the match,” Gold wrote.

“It’s embarrassing that the club are currently in danger of repeating those two critical transfer-less windows that sucked the life out of the club and the manager in Mauricio Pochettino’s final full season, seemingly learning not a single lesson from a period that ended their hopes of building on what the Argentine had created and they’ve been flailing since. Recent reports detailing the far lower percentage Spurs spend on salaries compared to revenue in relation to all of their rivals, which will only have dropped further this season, have not exactly screamed ambition from the owners to the fanbase.

“It’s embarrassing for the club to see those couple of banners in the south stand. One read: “24 years, 16 managers, one trophy – time for change”. Another proclaimed: “Our game is about glory, Levy’s game is about greed”. That video footage appeared to show stewards trying to take down the first banner is equally embarrassing.”

In an attempt to ease some of the tension, Tottenham are reportedly showing heavy interest in a highly touted 18-year-old who has burst on the Premier League scene this season, and a 24-year-old Manchester United academy product who has found his way in France.

But neither deal may be done until the summer.

“Southampton winger Tyler Dibling and Lille midfielder Angel Gomes are two players Spurs have held talks over as they attempt to set up deals for the summer window, and they are also trying to secure at least one new outfield signing this month,” Matt Law, football news correspondent for The Telegraph, wrote.

“While Postecoglou has been relatively calm about Tottenham’s lack of business so far, it is understood there is frustration from staff behind the scenes that outfield players have not been brought in earlier to try to alleviate some of the Australian’s problems.

“Tottenham have been desperate to avoid rushing into a decision on Postecoglou’s future and the focus has been trying to support him, but pressure is growing following successive defeats by Everton and Leicester, and with his team stuck in 15th place, eight points above the relegation zone.

“It is understood that Spurs are understanding of the injury crisis Postecoglou has faced and believe that changing the manager again would leave the club in a difficult position as they attempt to build something lasting.

“Furthermore, the prospect of having to finish a third season with Ryan Mason in caretaker charge would be hugely embarrassing and provoke more criticism towards Levy.”

The allure of some much-needed silverware is seemingly also keeping Postecoglou safe in the short-term.

Mid-week fixtures are undeniably hurting Tottenham’s depleted squad’s ability to back up time and time again for league encounters, but they remain alive in the League Cup, FA Cup and Europa League.

In fact, they lead Liverpool 1-0 after the first leg of their League Cup semi-final with the second leg to be played at Anfield next month.

They are sixth on the Europa League with a win at home against Swedish side IF Elsborg on Friday morning Australian time in their final league phase match guaranteeing them automatic passage to the Round of 16.

Meanwhile, an FA Cup fourth round tie away at Aston Villa also awaits next week.

Three opportunities remain for Postecoglou to fulfill his proclamation that he always wins a trophy in his second year in charge of a team.

He did it in the A-League. He did it with the Socceroos. He did it in Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos. He did with Scottish giants Celtic and despite things looking so bleak in North London, he remains optimistic that he can do it again.

Around the world, he has trophies in the bank and is not interested in trying to assure others that he can manage a football team

“It doesn’t really come into my consciousness about trying to convince people. I have been around long enough to know that some will just judge on where we are at at the moment and rightly so in some respects. It’s not good enough,” Postecoglou explained after the loss to Leicester.

“If people want to put context to that, they can. If not, so be it. From my point of view, I’m still very much stuck on the fact that the players are just giving everything they can.

“Even one more player coming in, just in the short term, will give us an opportunity at least to navigate these last 10 days to two weeks of what’s been a really hard slog for this group of players.

“They did on Thursday night (against Hoffenheim), they did today. There are probably at least two who shouldn’t have been out there. They were just desperate to try to turn our fortunes around.

“Hopefully over the next 10 days to two weeks we should get some significant players back which I think will help this group a lot. It will give them the boost they need.

“We have still got some fantastic opportunities this year to make an impact in the second half of this year and I’m sure that will happen.”

Whenever Postecoglou’s time is up at Tottenham, things may look brighter.

The Mirror’s football writers identified Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Fulham’s Marco Silva as potential replacements for Postecoglou at Spurs, but they would just be getting themselves onto the same merry-go-round.

Moving on from Spurs has reaped rewards for previous managers with The Guardian’s Jonathan Wilson writing that Postecoglou may have more success elsewhere to look forward to.

“The good news for Ange Postecoglou is that it seems relatively straightforward to recover from being Tottenham manager: his two immediate predecessors, Antonio Conte and Nuno Espírito Santo, are top of Serie A with Napoli and third in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest respectively,” Wilson wrote.

“As the banner unveiled on Sunday by Spurs fans during the defeat by Leicester read: “24 years, 16 managers, one trophy”. Nobody really looks at Tottenham any more and thinks the problem is the manager.

Why is Richarlison not playing against Manchester United? Spurs without striker

Tottenham are without Richarlison for their huge clash against Manchester United this afternoon.

Spurs have made the journey to the red half of Manchester as they look for back-to-back league wins and a first victory on the road.

However, they have done so without the talents of Richarlison.

The Brazilian international has made just two appearances for Ange Postecoglou’s side this year, and you would argue Tottenham are missing his unique abilities.

Unfortunately, he’s currently out with an injury.

Why is Richarlison not playing against Man United?

Richarlison has only appeared for 25 minutes of league action this season.

He was a substitute in Spurs’ two opening games against Leicester and Everton, but he hasn’t been seen since.

The former Toffees striker had to withdraw from international duty in early September when he picked up an unspecified injury.

This problem ruled him out of Spurs’ 2-1 defeat to Newcastle at the end of August.

Since then, Tottenham have also been without new striker Dominic Solanke, leaving Postecoglou’s men short in forward positions.

This injury he’s picked up is strange because Tottenham and Postecoglou have refused to reveal what it is, so we have no real timescale on his return.

But judging by his manager’s most recent comments on the forward, he isn’t going to be back any time soon.

Postecoglou has indicated that he could be without Richarlison for some time

    2

Speaking about the striker, he said: “He is a fair way off, I think you should stop asking me about him until I give you a bit of an update.

“He has still not trained with the first team, so he is still a bit off.”

Last season, Richarlison and Heung-min Son, who is also missing this game, alternated as Spurs’ main striker, and the Brazilian enjoyed a good campaign.

Limping Richarlison delights Tottenham fans by waving his own flag in jubilant scenes before kick-off

In 28 Premier League games, he scored 11 goals, which was his best return since swapping Everton for Spurs in the summer of 2022.

Unfortunately, he missed nine games through injury, including the last three matches of the season with a hamstring problem.

This saw him miss the Copa America, and though he briefly returned, he’s now out again and could be unavailable for some time.

Tottenham are waiting on a firm offer from Saudi Arabia for Richarlison to fund their move for a new number nine.

talkSPORT understands Saudi deal makers have indicated they are willing to meet Spurs’ £60million asking price for Richarlison with Al-Ahli a potential destination.

    3

The Brazilian international is also believed to be open to making the lucrative switch to the Middle East.

Once Richarlison is sold, Tottenham will step up their efforts for a new front-man with Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke and Brentford’s Ivan Toney both potential options.

Solanke has a £65m release clause in his contract and the Cherries are determined not to sell for any less while Brentford are under increasing pressure to offload Toney, who has less than a year left on his contract.

    Merry-go-round

England duo Aaron Ramsdale and Sam Johnstone are key components in a possible goalkeeper merry-go-round.

Ramsdale and Johnstone are both high on the wanted list of a number of Premier League clubs including Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Southampton.

Johnstone wants to leave Selhurst Park after falling behind Dean Henderson in the Palace pecking order while Ramsdale has only started one Premier League game since December.

If Wolves manage to sign either shot-stopper then they will listen to offers for regular number one Jose Sa while Arsenal are still keen to snare Molineux number two Dan Bentley as a Ramsdale replacement to help their homegrown quota.

Meanwhile Newcastle are still considering a fresh move for Burnley’s James Trafford after failing to agree a fee earlier in the window so it appears to be a good time to be a member of the goalkeeper’s union.

    World Cup winner

Brighton are among the many admirers of free agent former Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.

The Seagulls are looking to add an experienced head to their dressing room after losing both Adam Lallana and Pascal Gross this summer.

Hummels' final match for Dortmund came in the club's Champions League final defeat to Madrid

At 35, four years older than recently-appointed Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler, the 2014 World Cup winner Hummels certainly fits the bill.

Persuading the decorated centre-back to spend his twilight years on the Sussex coast would be a major coup given he has interest from a number of top European leagues and the MLS.

    Out of favour

It appears West Ham will soon be appointing a new captain with current skipper Kurt Zouma seemingly surplus to requirements.

Zouma was a somewhat controversial choice to be given the armband less than two years after being caught on camera horrifically kicking his cat.

The Frenchman turned his image around with the Hammers faithful with his whole-hearted displays, but talkSPORT understands club hierarchy have reservations about his value to the club due to an ongoing knee issue.

Zouma is surplus to requirements at West Ham

Technical director Tim Steidten is on the lookout for a new home for Zouma and even if he stays he is unlikely to be a regular starter following the £40m arrival of Max Kilman from Wolves.

Kilman, who successfully skippered Wolves last season, is one option to succeed Zouma as captain along with England winger and fans’ favourite Jarrod Bowen.

Richarlison had his Tottenham teammate Yves Bissouma in hysterics after stripping down to his shorts and celebrating like Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Brazil forward was in the gym at Tottenham’s training ground as he looks to put some work in ahead of the new Premier League season.

While working hard is the priority, Richarlison showed that there’s also a little bit of time for fun at this time of year.

The 27-year-old was in the gym with Yves Bissouma with the midfielder filming Richarlison.

Realising he was being filmed, Richarlison ripped of his t-shirt before running across the gym to do Ronaldo‘s iconic ‘Siuu’ celebration.

Sharing the video on Instagram, the forward’s translated post read: “Yes, pigeon is back!”

As well as attracting more than 135,000 likes in an hour, Richarlison had Bissouma in stitches as the midfielder flipped the camera to show how much he had enjoyed the forward’s antics.

Having missed five of Tottenham’s last eight Premier League games last term, Richarlison has been working hard to get back to fitness following knee and ankle issues.

Missing out on Brazil’s Copa America squad, the forward is putting in the hard yards to ensure that he’s fit and firing ahead of the Premier League’s kick-off in August.

Richarlison scored 12 times in 31 appearances during his first season under Ange Postecoglou, a tally that he’ll be hoping to improve as he aims to guide Tottenham into the Champions League.

Casemiro dealt fresh blow after missing out on Brazil’s Copa America squad

Casemiro tops the list of star players who have missed out on Brazil’s Copa America squad.

The Manchester United man has endured a torrid campaign in which he has come in for criticism as a result of his display for Erik ten Hag’s struggling side.

    3

As a result, the 32-year-old has lost his place in Dorival Jr’s squad for this summer’s competition.

Casemiro was named as Brazil’s national team captain in March last year, however his form this term has clearly seen him overtaken by a number of other stars.

His spot in central midfield could be filled by another Premier League player, with Bruno Guimaraes, Lucas Paqueta, Joao Gomes, Andreas Pereira and Douglas Luiz all making the cut.

Casemiro enjoyed a strong start to life at United after his move from Madrid last season as he made 51 appearances and helped them win the League Cup.

However, the 32-year-old has featured just 29 times in the current campaign and his performance at  Selhurst Park was arguably his worst for the club.

Casemiro wasn’t the only high-profile star to miss out, with Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus also failing to make the cut.

The Tottenham and Arsenal stars have struggled to impress on a consistent basis this term, allowing other players to surpass them in the pecking order.

They include Gabriel Martinelli and Real Madrid duo Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr, who have shone for Los Blancos in La Liga and the Champions League.

Premier League strugglers Everton salvaged a 2-2 draw with Tottenham thanks to Jarrad Branthwaite’s last-gasp equaliser, while Aston Villa moved into fourth place with a 5-0 demolition of Sheffield United.

Former Everton striker Richarlison had scored just one league goal for Tottenham between August 2022 and December 2023.

But he has now struck nine times in Tottenham’s last eight league games after putting the visitors ahead in the fourth minute and restoring their lead with a superb strike from the edge of the area in the 41st minute.

However, Everton rallied after a poor start and their tactic to target Tottenham keeper Guglielmo Vicario from corners paid off with a 30th-minute equaliser.

Jack Harrison was backing into Vicario before turning in Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s header towards goal.

And in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Tottenham’s Cristian Romero could only head James Garner’s free-kick towards his own goal and Branthwaite bundled the ball home.

“It’s obviously never going to be an easy game here. You have to deal with a fair bit but most of the time we handled it ok. Unfortunately we couldn’t hold out,” Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou said.

Third bottom Everton have failed to win in six league games, but Toffees manager Sean Dyche said:

Watkins bagged the second four minutes later, slotting home from Douglas Luiz’s pass, and Leon Bailey made it three with a curler into the top corner in the 20th minute.

When Youri Tielemans drilled his shot in via the bar in the 30th minute, Villa were the first away team to score four goals in the opening 30 minutes of a Premier League game since Chelsea at Bolton in 2011.

Emery’s men showed no mercy as Alex Moreno volleyed number five two minutes after half-time.

Villa are five points behind leaders Liverpool, who visit third placed Arsenal on Sunday.

NEWCASTLE ROAR HOME TO RESCUE DRAW

At St James’ Park, Newcastle staged a stirring fightback to rescue a 4-4 draw against Luton.

Sean Longstaff put Newcastle ahead in the seventh minute with a clinical close-range finish from Kieran Trippier’s cross.

Gabriel Osho headed Luton level in the 21st minute when he rose to finish off Ross Barkley’s cross.

Longstaff restored Newcastle’s advantage two minutes later, but Barkley equalised five minutes before half-time.

Luton won a 59th-minute penalty after Chiedozie Ogbene was tugged by Dan Burn, the decision given after a lengthy VAR check to determine the foul was inside the area.

Carlton Morris scored but had to retake the kick due to encroachment, holding his nerve to net with his second attempt.

Elijah Adebayo’s composed strike three minutes later increased Luton’s lead, but Trippier’s 67th-minute close-range finish gave Newcastle hope.

Harvey Barnes, playing for the first time since September after injury, completed Newcastle’s escape act six minutes later with a fierce finish into the bottom corner.

“A real credit to the players for coming back because it is not easy to do. We scored some great goals and could have won it,” Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said.

Luton moved one point clear of the relegation zone, while Newcastle are in ninth place.

ANGRY PALACE PLAYERS DEFEND COACH AGAINST ‘HURTFUL’ CHANTS

Brighton crushed Crystal Palace 4-1 at the Amex Stadium to bolster their bid for a European place.

The seventh placed Seagulls scored through Lewis Dunk, Jack Hinshelwood, Facundo Buonanotte and Joao Pedro as Palace fans called for Roy Hodgson to be sacked.

    “Wonderful, wasn’t it?” Hodgson said.

“Is it nice? No it isn’t. Yes, my years of management have given the me resilience me to cope with that, absolutely, and taunts from away supporters are part and parcel of our lives.

“At the moment our fans aren’t very happy with everything that is happening at the club and they are making their feelings known as well.

“But I signed up to be the manager and coach of this football club and I’ve got the strength, resilience and determination to see things through. I’m certainly not going to be cowed by that type of thing.”

Joachim Andersen and Dean Henderson had to be pulled away by assistant boss Paddy McCarthy for arguing with Palace fans.

David Datro Fofana’s double inspired second bottom Burnley’s fightback from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Fulham at Turf Moor.

Richarlison goal against Man United further highlights Arsenal’s scoring woes

Richarlison’s latest Premier League goal for Tottenham has seen him overtake the scoring efforts of stars from their rivals Arsenal.

The Brazilian international headed in for Spurs to equalise against Manchester United on Sunday as he continues his fine run of form.

His goal was the seventh he has scored in the Premier League this season, with six of them coming in his last six appearances and a vast improvement on his sole strike from the previous campaign.

Richarlison’s efforts are yet to make him Spurs’ top scorer as Heung-min Son, who is at the Asian Cup with South Korea, has scored 12.

Despite this, the 26-year-old will find happiness in the knowledge that his seven Premier League goals are better than his rival forwards.

After 20 league games this season, no attacking Arsenal player has as many goals as Richarlison.

MORE ON MAN UNITED V TOTTENHAM

Bukayo Saka has the most for the Gunners with six goals, and Eddie Nketiah is behind him on five.

Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus both have three goals each, and Gabriel Martinelli has just two league strikes to his name.

Arsenal’s lack of goals from the forward positions could prove to have a detrimental affect on their title chances this season.

They could use the January transfer window to bolster their options going forward, but Mikel Arteta has remained tight-lipped on their potential business.

Brentford star Ivan Toney, who is set to return from his eight-month ban, has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

It remains to be seen if a new forward signing arrives this month as Richarlison maintains his impressive form in front of goal.

Spurs fell behind after just three minutes through Rasmus Hojlund before their Brazilian star made it 1-1.

United went ahead once again thanks to Marcus Rashford shortly before half-time but Rodrigo Bentancur levelled in the first minute of the second half to seal a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford.

Everton fans rage as documents show Tottenham saved £20million on Richarlison

Everton fans have been left frustrated after discovering that Tottenham paid £20million less for Richarlison than first budgeted.

The Toffees were handed a ten-point deduction by the Premier League on Friday after breaching financial rules.

Sean Dyche‘s side, who have appealed, now sit in the relegation zone as a result and have just four points rather than 14.

An independent commission filed a 41-page report and mentions Richarlison‘s move to Spurs in the summer of 2022.

The Brazilian signed in a deal rising to £60m with potential add-ons, but the report says that Everton had budgeted £80m from his sale.

“Everton considered that the sale on 30 June 2022 of Mr Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur FC for the sum of £60million, rather than the sum of £80million that it had budgeted to receive, to be directly attributable to its PSR calculation difficulties,” it said.

Everton’s punishment has come from breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules [PSR] and fans have raged amid the details of the Richarlison transfer.

Taking to X, one said with a sad emoji: “I think we all knew that at the time.”

“Spurs knew we had to sell because of FFP. We were already skint and FFP made it worse,” added a second.

A third said: “We were forced to sell Richarlison to help with FFP and it was all in vain.”

Everton's points deduction puts them at risk of relegation to the Championship

This supporter meanwhile posted: “So basically took advantage of a fire sale scenario.”

Another stated: “That’s what happens on a fire sale & you are desperate for money.”

It hasn’t proven to be money well spent for Tottenham yet, with Richarlison scoring just five goals in 46 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, the Toffees now face the risk of relegation to the Championship, something they have avoided in the past two seasons.

talkSPORT understands the sanction is in relation to interest payments on their new Bromley Moore Dock Stadium.

Burnley, Leeds United and Leicester City are set to sue Everton, who may have to pay around £300million in damages.

This comes as all three sides were relegated from the Premier League from 2022 to 2023, with the Toffees staying up in both years instead.
