Sam Kerr’s perfect four-finger gesture silences rowdy Arsenal fans

But it was following the contest when Kerr hit back after being greeted by boisterous Gunners fans while she sat stuck in traffic.

Nearby fans broke out into chants of “Arsenal, Arsenal” in the direction of Kerr sitting in the passenger seat.

The Aussie striker, quick as a flash, threw up four fingers to remind her foes just how many Women’s Super League titles Chelsea have won.

Chelsea have dominated the competition, winning the past four titles and look on track to make it five straight.

Fans however were quick to point out that Kerr flashed the exact number of goals her club had surrendered in their first loss of the season.

“They were the better team today. We’ll go back and review it. It’s pretty hard with all the emotions to see what went wrong,” Kerr told Optus.

“Obviously a disappointing performance from us but we’ll be there at the end of the season, for sure. This game won’t derail us or dictate how the season will end.”

The quiet outing by the normally dominant star was her first appearance after she missed the Matildas’ two games against Canada, which the Aussies lost 6-0 and 1-0.

“It’s been a rough three months for me, to be honest, I’ve been battling calf, foot, knee … but I’ve got to do what’s best for me, the Matildas, Chelsea,” she said.

“At the end of the day I’m a 30-year-old now, I’m not 21, so I’m doing what’s best for me and my career.”

While Kerr has dealt with injury struggles on the pitch, off the pitch she’s kicking goals all over the place.

Kerr unveiled a completely new look as she appeared as the cover story for the latest edition of Esquire Australia.

But the biggest news of all was Kerr’s engagement to partner Kristie Mewis following months of speculation from internet sleuths.

The duo confirmed the worst kept secret in November after Mewis had sent the internet into meltdown with an Instagram upload that showed her sporting a large rock on her left ring finger in September.

The pair, who went public with their relationship in 2021, have become a football power couple that send fans wild with any uploads to their social media channels.

‘I made a mistake’: Neymar makes mysterious public apology to pregnant girlfriend

Neymar has offered a puzzling public apology to his girlfriend, Brazilian model Bruna Biancardi, just weeks after announcing she was pregnant with his child.

The football star posted a lengthy and emotional statement to Instagram on Thursday, bringing in seven million likes in a matter of hours as he discussed mysterious actions in his private life that seemed to have driven a wedge between the couple.

In the message to his 210 million Instagram followers, Neymar, 31, admitted that he had “made a mistake” and “was wrong”, saying: “If a private matter has become public, the apology must be made public.”

“I made a mistake. I was wrong,” Neymar wrote. Picture: Instagram.Source: Supplied

“Justifying the unjust. It was not needed. But I need you in OUR life,” he wrote in his native Portuguese.

“I saw how much you were exposed, how much you suffered through all of this and how much you want to be by my side. And me right beside you.

“I risk saying I’m wrong every day, on and off the field. Only I solve my mistakes in my personal life at home, in my intimacy with my family and friends …

“All of this hit one of the most special people in my life. The woman I dreamt of following beside me, the mother of my child. Reached your family, who today is my family. It reached the intimacy of such a special moment that is motherhood.”

Neymar, who confirmed in April that he and Biancardi are expecting their first child together, said he had “already apologised for my mistakes, for unnecessary exposure” but feels “obligated to publicly reaffirm that”.

“I can’t imagine life without you. I don’t know if we’ll work out, but TODAY you’re sure I want to try,” he continued.

“Our purpose will prevail, our love for our baby will win, our love for each other will strengthen us.”

He concluded the message by saying “ALWAYS US. I love you,” to Biancardi.

Biancardi has kept quiet about the effusive apology on social media, having only posted standard lifestyle and beauty blogger content since it was shared.

Neymar and Biancardi are believed to have started dating in 2021 but kept the romance a secret before going public on Instagram in January last year.

The pair announced that they had gone their separate ways in August 2022 before rekindling the romance soon after.

Their reunion was followed in April by an announcement that Neymar and Biancardi were expecting their first child together.

Neymar is also a father to son David Lucca, 12, whom he shares with his ex-girlfriend, social media influencer Carolina Dantas.

In the pregnancy announcement, the couple shared a series of sweet photographs showing Biancardi’s baby bump as Neymar cradled and kissed her stomach.

The model wore blue jeans and a white crochet bra, which she styled with a matching cardigan and unbuttoned jeans showing off her belly.

The pair confirmed the exciting news in a caption that gushed over their “beautiful family”.

It read: “We dream of your life, we plan your arrival and know that you are here to complete our love, make our days much happier.

“You’re going to join a beautiful family, with a brother, grandparents, uncles and aunts who already love you very much!

“Come soon child, we are waiting for you!

“‘Before I formed you in the womb I chose you; before you were born I set you apart’ — Jeremiah 1:5.”

The post also sparked engagement rumours as Biancardi was seen wearing a silver band on her ring finger.

Angel Reese taunts Caitlin Clark: America erupts over powerful image

America is sharply divided after college basketball player Angel Reese brutally mocked her opponent in the final minutes of a crucial game.

LSU Tigers star Angel Reese was pictured making a “you can’t see me” gesture towards Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark, a signal made famous by wrestling star John Cena.

She then pointed towards her ring finger in a reference to the championship ring she was about to win.

The brutal trash talk went on for about 10 seconds as she aggressively stalked Clark around the basketball court in the final moments of the 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament championship game.

Her gestures soon became a national talking point, dredging up issues of poor sportsmanship, racism and double standards.

ESPN tweeted an image of the incident writing, “This photo is so cold”, which quickly went viral.

It wasn’t long before the photo was being memorialised on T-shirts.

Reese has since copped plenty of criticism for taunting her opponent as victory was all but secured.

Former ESPN host Keith Olbermann was blunt, calling Reese an “idiot”.

Danny Kanell from CBS Sports wrote: “What a classless move by Angel Reese. Doing WAY too much to taunt Clark.”

Sports website editor Jose de Jesus Ortiz also had a crack at the star writing: “This is classless. Angel Reese is only 20, so she’s still young, but taunting Caitlin Clark like this shows a pure lack of class. Win with class, lose with class, play with class. Clark’s mom and dad can be proud that her daughter ignored the taunting. They raised her right.”

It should be noted, Clark made the same John Cena celebration in Iowa’s Elite Eight win over Louisville when she had a 40-point triple-double.

    Reese herself has remained unapologetic.

“All year I was critiqued about who I was,” she said in an interview after the game.

“I don’t fit the narrative. I don’t fit in a box which ya’ll want me to be in.

I’m too hood, I’m too ghetto. Y’all told me that all year. But when other people do it, y’all don’t say nothing. So this is for the girls that look like me. That’s going to speak up in what they believe in.”

NBA great Shaquille O’Neal rushed to her defence after sports commentator Keith Olbermann called Reese a “f**king idiot”.

Shaq responded: “Shut your dumb ass up leave Angel Reese alone.”

Reese later retweet Shaq and commented: “Yeah my uncle Shaq don’t play ‘bout me. Period.”

The intense criticism has also sparked accusations of racism and double standards.

Journalist Brian Krassenstein wrote: “When a white woman from Iowa, Caitlin Clark taunts the other team during a game it’s ‘funny’ and ‘part of competition’.

“When a black woman from Louisiana, Angel Reese, decides to do it back, she’s ‘not showing sportsmanship’ and ‘disgusting’.

“If you ever needed an example of systemic racism in American culture and why books on such should not be banned from schools, THIS IS IT!”

Bishop Talbert Swan also weighed in writing: “When Caitlin Clark taunted Louisville in the Elite Eight, she was praised.

“When Angel Reese, taunted Caitlin Clark with the exact same gesture in the championship, she was called classless. I wonder whyTE [sic].”

Reese later explained her reason for taunting Clark was because Clark had previously “disrespected” her teammate, LSU guard Alexis Morris.

“I was waiting,” Reese said on the ESPN postgame show.

“Caitlin Clark is a hell of a player for sure, but I don’t take disrespect lightly.

“She disrespected Alexis [Morris] and my girls, South Carolina, they’re my SEC girls too. Y’all not going to disrespect them either.

“I wanted to pick her pocket, but I had a moment at the end of the game, and I was in my bag. I was in my moment.”
