    1. Nehal Wadhera: A Rising Star with Remarkable Batting Skills

Nehal Wadhera is an explosive left-handed batter who made his mark in IPL 2023 with Mumbai Indians (MI). Although his 2024 season did not go as planned, with three consecutive single-digit scores, his previous performances have shown that he is a talent to watch. In 2023, Wadhera impressed with his ability to stabilize the middle order and take the attack to the opposition, making crucial contributions during MI’s campaign.

Wadhera’s explosive batting was also on display in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24, where he played a pivotal role in Punjab’s title win. Despite a lackluster 2024 season, his batting power and potential make him an attractive prospect for many IPL franchises. His left-handed approach suits the demands of franchises looking to build a solid middle order, and MI, the team that initially nurtured him, may also look to repurchase him during the auction. Wadhera’s ability to turn the game around in the middle overs and his power-hitting capability will likely make him a highly sought-after player at the IPL 2025 auction.

    2. Ashutosh Sharma: The Explosive Finisher

Ashutosh Sharma was one of the few positives for Punjab Kings (PBKS) during their forgettable IPL 2024 season. Known for his aggressive batting, Ashutosh has the ability to finish games with explosive cameos in the death overs. In his debut season, Ashutosh played 11 matches, scoring 189 runs with a highest score of 61. His strike rate, which hovered over 160, showcased his ability to accelerate the innings and provide the necessary momentum in the latter stages of the game.

Ashutosh’s natural ability to strike the ball cleanly, particularly in the final overs, makes him a valuable asset for teams looking to add a hard-hitting finisher to their squad. Despite not ending the 2024 season on a high note, his consistent performances throughout the season and his aggressive batting approach will ensure that he remains in demand at the auction. Teams seeking power-hitting depth are likely to place high bids on Ashutosh in the IPL 2025 auction.

Swastik Chikara has been one of the standout performers in the UP T20 League 2024, where he scored a staggering 499 runs in just 12 matches. His performances for Meerut made him the highest run-scorer in the tournament, showcasing his exceptional talent and ability to dominate bowlers. With a strike rate of 191.56 and an average of 61.57, Chikara has proven that he can take on the best bowlers in the shortest format of the game.

Swastik’s batting prowess, including his ability to hit sixes and fours with ease, makes him an exciting prospect for IPL franchises looking for dynamic middle-order players. His 2024 domestic record also includes 1 century and 4 half-centuries, which highlights his consistency in scoring big runs. Chikara’s power-hitting style is well-suited to the fast-paced nature of IPL, and he is expected to draw significant interest from franchises.

His background in List A cricket, where he has accumulated 200 runs from 6 matches, further adds to his credibility as an all-rounder with the potential to deliver in various formats. IPL teams are likely to see Swastik Chikara as an excellent investment, especially considering his proven ability to perform under pressure in domestic competitions.

    4. Sameer Rizvi: A Dynamic Middle-Order Batter

Sameer Rizvi, a 20-year-old right-handed batter, made his IPL debut for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2024, where he showed glimpses of his explosive batting. Although Rizvi could not make a significant impact in his limited opportunities, his domestic form has been impressive. Known for his ability to attack the bowlers from the start, Rizvi is a player who can take the game away from the opposition in a matter of overs.

Rizvi’s performances in domestic cricket, particularly in middle-order roles, have established him as a promising talent. Despite limited IPL exposure, his aggressive playing style, which is well-suited for the middle order, makes him a key prospect for franchises looking to add depth to their batting line-ups. Given his familiarity with the CSK setup, it is possible that the franchise could bid for him again, but other teams are also likely to show interest in securing his services for IPL 2025. His ability to turn games with his dynamic batting makes him a valuable asset for any team.

    5. Mahipal Lomror: An Upcoming All-Rounder with IPL Potential

Mahipal Lomror, the 24-year-old all-rounder, has been making waves in Indian domestic cricket with his remarkable performances. Despite his impressive IPL history, where he has accumulated 527 runs in 40 matches—including a solid 125 runs in the previous edition for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) – Lomror was released by RCB ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, his recent sensational display in the Ranji Trophy has put IPL franchises on high alert as they prepare for the upcoming auction on November 24-25 in Jeddah.

Lomror’s explosive form was on full display during his record-breaking triple century in a Ranji Trophy Group B match against Uttarakhand. Scoring an astonishing 300 runs off 357 balls, Lomror’s innings included a blistering 13 sixes and 25 fours, which not only displayed his exceptional batting technique but also his ability to dominate bowlers in longer formats. His strike rate of 83.33 was particularly impressive, showing his ability to maintain a high level of aggression without losing control over his shots.

This innings has surely caught the attention of IPL franchises, especially given his ability to score quickly and play a crucial role in both formats of the game. With his power-hitting and ability to perform under pressure, Lomror is now seen as a valuable asset for teams looking to add depth to their middle-order batting and all-round options.

WATCH: Sameer Rizvi’s family goes crazy as the young CSK batter hits Rashid Khan for 2 sixes on IPL debut

Sameer Rizvi’s dream debut for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was a highlight in their convincing 63-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2024 on Tuesday. The big-hitting batter, acquired by CSK for a hefty Rs 8.40 crore last year, announced his arrival in style.

Sameer Rizvi smashes Rashid Khan for two sixes in an over

Coming into bat at No. 6 after Shivam Dube‘s dismissal, Rizvi faced T20 specialist Rashid Khan for the very first ball of his IPL career. In a moment that will be etched in his memory, Rizvi dispatched the ace spinner for a massive six over deep backward square leg.

Living up to his reputation as a six-hitting specialist, Rizvi wasn’t done there. He followed his first six with a double and another dot ball before launching another six off Rashid’s bowling. Rizvi displayed nerves of steel, stepping out and slogging the last ball of the 19th over – a slightly fuller delivery outside off – for a towering six over long-off. The power on the shot ensured it cleared the boundary with ease.

Rizvi’s family, watching the match back home in Meerut, erupted in joy witnessing their son’s dream debut unfold on the big stage.

“Pehli ball pe chakka keh ke gaya tha’ (He said he will hit a six on the first ball),” stated one of the family members.

Even CSK captain MS Dhoni couldn’t hide his elation, sporting a wide smile after Rizvi’s audacious six-hitting against Rashid.

    Dominant victory for CSK

While Rizvi’s cameo was a memorable moment, the real heroes for CSK were openers Rachin Ravindra (46 off 20) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (46 off 36) who provided a solid foundation with their respective knocks. The in-form Dube continued his rampage with a blistering 52 off just 23 balls, propelling CSK to a daunting total of 206/6.

In reply, the CSK bowling attack complemented the batting brilliance. Deepak Chahar rattled the Gujarat top order with quick dismissals of Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha.

Dhoni, known for his exceptional wicketkeeping skills, joined the party by taking a blinder to dismissVijay Shankar off Daryl Mitchells bowling. Mustafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande then efficiently restricted the GT batters from scoring runs, picking up two wickets each. The Titans could only manage 143/8 in their 20 overs, handing CSK a dominant victory.

IPL 2024: MS Dhoni’s hilarious exchange with Dwayne Bravo takes centre stage in Chennai

Former skipper of the Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni, playing in his seventeenth edition of the IPL, didn’t have any role to play with the bat, with his side winning both their games against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Gujarat Titans quite comprehensively, by respective margins of six wickets and 63 runs, respectively.

However, even though the cricketing icon has only played a part in the marquee tournament as a wicketkeeper so far, the fixation and craze revolving him hasn’t diminished one iota, with those at the stadium going absolutely bonkers every time the five-time IPL-winning captain appeared on the big screens attached beyond the boundary ropes. He grabbed a phenomenally athletic catch to get Vijay Shankar dismissed off the bowling of Daryl Mitchell, which left every viewer amazed at his mobility considering his age.

In a mirthful moment which took place between MS Dhoni and former CSK player and current bowling coach Dwayne Bravo during the post-match ritual of shaking hands with the opposition’s players as well as their own teammates, after Bravo congratulated and hugged CSK’s skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad for the emphatic victory, Dhoni was next in line. However, Dhoni took him by surprise by impulsively trying to attack Bravo on his lower abdomen, which left Bravo in splits.

Sameer Rizvi credits MS Dhoni for debut IPL knock

20-year-old Sameer Rizvi, the destructive middle-order batter from Uttar Pradesh, made his IPL debut against GT after he was named in the playing XI at the toss. Coming into bat halfway through the 19th over of the innings, he thumped the seasoned wrist-spinner, Rashid Khan, for a six over deep square-leg with an immaculate sweep on his first ball in the IPL. Three balls later, he came down the ground to mistime it for six once again, demonstrating the sheer raw power he possesses.

Rizvi credited Dhoni for his swift and impactful debut knock of 14(6) in the IPL, mentioning that the talismanic former Indian skipper encouraged him to play his natural game during his cameo against Gujarat Giants. As per Rizvi, Dhoni told him to be his authentic self while with the bat and encouraged him to not go out with any sort of nerves, directing him to play according to the demands of the situation.

“Bhaiya (Dhoni) told me to play how I generally play since it is all about the actual gameplay. He said, ‘There is nothing different. Skills remain the same, and it’s all just about mindset. Never take any pressure or be nervous, and play as per the situation’,” Rizvi said in a video published on the official website of the IPL.

Top 6 overpriced players in IPL 2024 auction

The IPL 2024 auction unfolded as a spectacle of unprecedented proportions, leaving cricket enthusiasts and pundits alike in awe. The bidding war that ensued was not just high-stakes but historic, rewriting the records for the highest bids in the illustrious history of IPL.

IPL 2024 auction extravaganza: A staggering surge in player valuations

The auction unfolded with a remarkable surge in player valuations, catapulting the bidding process into uncharted financial territories. Franchises engaged in an intense bidding wrestle for cricketing talent, and the stakes were nothing short of astronomical.

From seasoned international stars to emerging talents, many players became coveted assets, commanding eye-watering sums that reflected the fierce competition and the ever-increasing value placed on cricketing prowess in the world’s premier T20 league.

Six players on whom the franchises over-spend in IPL 2024 auction:

    1. Mitchell Starc – 24.75 Crore (KKR):

    Mitchell Starc (Image source: Twitter)

The colossal bid of 24.75 crore for Mitchell Starc by Kolkata Knight Riders raised eyebrows. Notably, this marked the most expensive acquisition in IPL history. The pacer, absent from the IPL for eight years, showcased an average run with the ball despite Australia‘s ODI World Cup triumph in 2023. The excessive amount paid for his services appeared disproportionate to his recent performances.

    2. Pat Cummins – 20.50 Crore (SRH):

Securing the second-highest bid at 20.50 crore, Aussie skipper Pat Cummins became a talking point. Despite the all-rounder’s commendable skills in ODIs and Tests, his fit within the fast-paced dynamics of the IPL seemed questionable. The substantial investment in him stirred discussions about the value proposition for the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

    3. Alzarri Joseph – 11.75 Crore (RCB):

The most expensive Caribbean player in the IPL 2024 auction, Alzarri Joseph, was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 11.75 crore. However, his dismal performance in IPL 2023, bagging only seven wickets with an economy of 9.38, seemed quite irrational with the high price tag associated with his name.

    4. Spencer Johnson – 10 Crore (GT):

Gujarat Titans spent a hefty ten crore on Australian bowler Spencer Johnson. Despite featuring ordinary stats and having no experience of playing on Indian soil, Johnson became a subject of discussion as an overpriced commodity in the IPL auction, raising questions about the valuation process.

    5. Harshal Patel – 11.75 Crore (PBKS):

Punjab Kings secured Harshal Patel for a whopping 11.75 crore, making him the most expensive Indian player in the auction. However, analyzing his recent domestic performances and the previous IPL season, where he maintained an economy of 9.66, the bid for Harshal appeared quite higher.

Chennai Super Kings grabbed the uncapped Indian player Sameer Rizvi for 8.40 crore. Despite Rizvi boasting an impressive batting average of 49.16 in domestic T20s, his lack of experience in top-tier cricket and the highly competitive IPL raised questions about the thought behind the sizable bid.
