There were good moments, there were bad moments, and I am grateful for all of them.” This mature perspective highlights his growth since the end of his marriage.

Ashutosh Sharma wins hearts by dedicating his Player of the Match award to “Shikhar Paaji” – IPL 2025, DC vs LSG

In a thrilling start to the IPL 2025 season, Ashutosh Sharma emerged as the hero for Delhi Capitals (DC), leading them to a dramatic one-wicket victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on March 24. The match, held at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, showcased Ashutosh’s extraordinary batting skills as he scored an unbeaten 66 runs off just 31 balls, securing the win in the final over.

Ashutosh Sharma takes DC over the finish line

After LSG set a formidable target of 210 runs, bolstered by impressive innings from Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh, Delhi found themselves in dire straits at 7 for 3 early in their chase. Despite a shaky start, Ashutosh displayed remarkable composure and aggression, hitting five fours and five sixes to turn the tide for his team. His partnership with Vipraj Nigam, who contributed a quickfire 39 runs, was crucial in reviving Delhi’s hopes after they were reduced to 113 for 6.

In the tense final overs, with Delhi needing 18 runs from the last two overs, Ashutosh kept his nerve and expertly maneuvered the strike. He sealed the match with a stunning six off Shahbaz Ahmed’s delivery, finishing the game with just three balls to spare.

Ashutosh Sharma dedicates his POTM award to his mentor Shikhar Dhawan

Following his outstanding performance, Ashutosh dedicated his Player of the Match award to his mentor, Shikhar Dhawan. In the post-match presentation, he expressed gratitude for Dhawan’s guidance and reflected on his determination to finish games this season after missing similar opportunities last year while playing for Punjab Kings.

  • IND vs AUS [WATCH]: Anushka Sharma’s priceless reactions to Virat Kohli’s heroics in Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal win

IND vs AUS [WATCH]: Anushka Sharma’s priceless reactions to Virat Kohli’s heroics in Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal win

The Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final between India and Australia was not just a cricketing spectacle but also a stage for an emotional narrative featuring Virat Kohli and his wife, Anushka Sharma. As Kohli steered India to victory with a gritty 84-run knock, Anushka’s reactions in the stands captured the hearts of fans worldwide. Their heartfelt exchange after the match became the talk of the internet, symbolizing the deep bond between the cricketing icon and the Bollywood star.

Virat Kohli’s heroics on display against Australia

Under the floodlights of the Dubai International Stadium, Kohli once again proved why he is considered one of the greatest chasers in cricket history. Chasing a target of 265 set by Australia, Kohli anchored India’s innings with a composed 84 off 98 balls. His innings was a masterclass in strike rotation, featuring 56 singles and four twos, underscoring his remarkable fitness and game awareness. Though he fell just short of what could have been his 52nd ODI century, his effort was pivotal in securing India’s six-run victory and a spot in the Champions Trophy final.

Kohli’s performance also added several feathers to his cap. He became the first player to score 1,000 runs in ICC Knockout matches and surpassed Shikhar Dhawan as India’s highest run-scorer in Champions Trophy history. Former England captain Michael Vaughan hailed him as “the best chaser in history,” a sentiment echoed by fans and commentators alike.

Anushka Sharma: The silent cheerleader of Kohli

While Kohli was scripting history on the field, Anushka was living every moment from the stands. Her reactions ranged from nervous anticipation during tense moments to unbridled joy when India clinched victory. The highlight of the evening came after the match when Kohli walked towards her, locked eyes, and celebrated with a fist pump. Anushka responded with a radiant smile that spoke volumes about their shared pride and love.

This tender moment between the couple was captured on camera and quickly went viral on social media. Fans lauded Anushka for being a constant source of support for Kohli, even during his challenging phases earlier this year. Her presence at such high-stakes matches has often been seen as a morale booster for the star cricketer.

    Here are the videos:

Kohli’s journey of getting back in form

Kohli’s stellar performance in this tournament marks a triumphant return to form after facing criticism earlier this year during India’s loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His unbeaten century against Pakistan in the group stage had already signaled his resurgence, and his semi-final knock further cemented his status as a big-match player.

Kohli’s ability to thrive under pressure is not new; his record in ICC tournaments is unparalleled. With over 8,000 runs in ODI chases and five half-centuries in Champions Trophy semi-finals alone, he has consistently delivered when it matters most. His innings against Australia showcased not just skill but also mental resilience, qualities that have defined his illustrious career.

  • 4 teams who can release their captains ahead of the IPL 2025 auction

4 teams who can release their captains ahead of the IPL 2025 auction

As the India Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction approaches, franchises are carefully assessing their squads, strategies, and leadership roles to build a competitive team for the future. With factors like age, fitness, player form, and evolving team goals, several captains might find their roles under scrutiny.

Keeping major auctions in mind, teams are now looking at younger, dynamic leaders who can guide them through a long-term vision while maintaining a high level of performance. Let’s have a look at such franchises that could potentially release their captains before the next IPL season as they rework their leadership structure to align with future goals.

4 teams who can release their captains ahead of the IPL 2025 players’ auction

    1. Faf du Plessis – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

Faf du Plessis has been a key figure for RCB since taking over the captaincy, but age and recent form may prompt the team to look for a younger leader. At 40, Du Plessis’ performances have dipped slightly, and with RCB focused on building a squad for the future, the franchise might consider a fresh captain.

Further, RCB could potentially bring in KL Rahul, who started his IPL career with the franchise. Rahul’s leadership experience and batting prowess could make him an ideal replacement for Du Plessis.

    2. Shikhar Dhawan – Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Shikhar Dhawan, who has recently retired from all forms of the game, will definitely be released by Punjab Kings ahead of the 2025 season. Dhawan’s retirement paves the way for the franchise to appoint a new captain, and the frontrunner is all-rounder Sam Curran.

Curran, who became the most expensive player in IPL history, is seen as a promising young leader. His all-round abilities and consistent performances make him a strong candidate to lead Punjab Kings into a new era.

Also READ: 3 players Punjab Kings can release ahead of IPL 2025 auction

    3. KL Rahul – Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

Rahul’s tenure as Lucknow Super Giants captain has been marked by mixed results, and reports suggest his relationship with the franchise’s management is strained. With a potential return to RCB on the cards, LSG may release Rahul before the 2025 auction.

Rahul’s previous stint with RCB and his strong leadership credentials could make him an attractive option for his former team, especially if they decide to release Du Plessis.

    4. Hardik Pandya – Mumbai Indians (MI)

Hardik Pandya‘s form has been inconsistent in recent seasons, and his injury-prone body has raised concerns among Mumbai Indians fans. Although Hardik remains a valuable all-rounder, the team may consider moving forward without him as captain.

Suryakumar Yadav, currently leading India in T20 internationals, is seen as a strong contender to take over the captaincy. His experience, aggressive style, and current form make him a fan favorite to lead MI in the upcoming seasons.

As the IPL 2025 auction approaches, these potential captaincy changes could shape the direction of several franchises. Fans will be eager to see which teams make bold moves in the pursuit of success.
