In a high-scoring encounter at Eden Gardens, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 23 runs in the 19th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

The Knight Riders won the toss and opted to bowl first, but Sunrisers Hyderabad set a mammoth total of 228/4 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to an exceptional century from Harry Brook (100 off 55 balls) and a blistering fifty from skipper Aiden Markram (50 off 26 balls).

Chasing a daunting target, Kolkata Knight Riders started poorly, losing opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck in the first over. Although Narayan Jagadeesan (36 off 21 balls) and Nitish Rana (75 off 41 balls) tried to keep the chase alive with some brilliant hitting, the required run-rate kept soaring, and the Kolkata side eventually fell short by 23 runs.

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Marco Jansen (2/37) and Mayank Markande (2/27) picked up two wickets each, while Umran Malik, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and T Natarajan claimed one wicket apiece. Andre Russell (3/22) was the standout bowler for Kolkata Knight Riders, but his effort went in vain as Sunrisers Hyderabad sealed an emphatic victory.

  • KKR vs SRH Dream 11 prediction: 3 players you can pick as captain or vice-captain for today’s IPL 2023 match – April 14th, 2023

KKR vs SRH Dream 11 prediction: 3 players you can pick as captain or vice-captain for today’s IPL 2023 match – April 14th, 2023

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are set to lock horns in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Friday, April 14. The KKR vs SRH match will take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The Knights, led by Nitish Rana, are currently placed fourth in the table with four points and a net run rate of +1.375. They will go into the game after beating Rashid Khan’s Gujarat Titans by three wickets.

The Sunrisers, on the other hand, began their campaign with two straight defeats against the Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. But a victory over Shikhar Dhawan’s Punjab Kings gave them some momentum.

On that note, here are three players whom you can pick as captain or vice captain for your Dream XI team for KKR vs SRH. Pick your players wisely.

    #3 Sunil Narine (KKR) – 9 credits

Sunil Narine has been exceptional for the Knight Riders and should be a must in your team for the KKR vs SRH match. The off-spinner is currently the leading wicket-taker for the Men in Gold and Purple, having taken six wickets at a stupendous economy rate of 7.41. Narine can also score handy runs lower in the order.

    #2 Aiden Markram (SRH) – 8.5 credits

Aiden Markram failed to perform in his first match but made amends to a large extent against the Kings. He stayed unbeaten at 37 and played at a strike-rate above 160. Markram has also rolled his arms over, which means he can also pick up wickets.

    #1 Varun Chakravarthy (GT) – 9 credits

Varun Chakravarthy was exceptional the last time he played at the Eden Gardens. The spinner picked up a four-wicket haul and made inroads into the RCB batting lineup. If the pitch remains slow, the SRH batters will have their challenges while facing him. You should pick him in your team for the KKR vs SRH match.

WATCH: SRH owner Kavya Maran gets angry over cameraman during the match against PBKS – IPL 2023

Sunrisers Hyderabad‘s owner Kavya Maran visiting the stadium to support her team is a common sight, and she’s often discussed on social media for her cute looks during the match. Although Kavya has been the focus of the camera for a while now, she was seen a bit irritated with the cameraman on Sunday (April 9) amidst her team’s match against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

SRH faced PBKS in the 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and emerged victorious in the contest by eight wickets. Notably, it was the Punjab-based side’s first defeat in the season.

Asked to bat first, PBKS got off to a shaky start and managed to score only 143/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Shikhar Dhawan played a lone hand for his side and scored a brilliant 99 off just 66 balls, including twelve fours and five sixes. Except for skipper Dhawan, none of the other batters from the PBKS side could get going, and the team had to settle for an average total. However, the 37-year-old left-handed batter remained unbeaten for Punjab, saving his team from getting bundled out. Meanwhile, Mayank Markande was the pick of the bowlers for SRH, claiming four wickets for just 15 runs in his quota of four overs.

SRH owner Kavya was frustrated to see Dhawan standing rock-solid on one end, and the cameraman became the victim of her anger. After being shown on the big screen, she was captured telling the camera to go away by saying, “Hatt rey”. The video of Kavya’s reaction soon went viral on the internet.

    Here’s the video:

Coming back to the match, SRH chased down the target comfortably for the loss of just two wickets in 17.1 overs. Rahul Tripathi was the star of the show for the Hyderabad-based team as he smashed blistering 74 off just 48 balls. Rahul hammered ten fours and three sixes during his knock and was well supported by his captain Aiden Markram who scored a crucial 37 off 21 balls. The duo finished unbeaten in the game and ensured their team easily reached the target.

On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh and Rahul Chahar picked up a wicket each for PBKS, but they were unable to stop the Hyderabad batters from scoring freely.

  • IPL 2023: Reason why SRH and RR players are wearing black armbands in today’s game

IPL 2023: Reason why SRH and RR players are wearing black armbands in today’s game

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are taking on Rajasthan Royals (RR), while Mumbai Indians (MI) will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in an action-packed Sunday of the 2023 IPL season.

The first match of the day began at 3.30 pm IST at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. During this game, players from both teams were spotted wearing black armbands.

The reason for the black armbands was to mourn the loss of former Indian cricketer Salim Durani, who passed away on the same morning at the age of 88. The IPL Governing Body confirmed that the armbands were worn as a mark of respect for the former cricketer, who played for India from 1960 to 1973.

Durani was known for his explosive batting and left-arm spin bowling. He was the only Indian representative who was born in Afghanistan and is widely regarded as one of the hard hitters of his time. His contribution to Indian cricket has been immense, and his passing is a significant loss to the cricketing community.

The last time black armbands were worn during an IPL match was on May 15, 2022. Players from Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wore them to pay tribute to former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds, who had passed away the previous day. These gestures of remembrance serve as a reminder of the deep respect and gratitude that the cricketing world holds for its heroes.

While the black armbands added a somber note to the matches, the action on the field was intense and thrilling. Fans were treated to some fantastic cricketing performances as the teams battled it out to secure victory. The IPL continues to be a hugely popular tournament, bringing together some of the best cricketing talent from around the world for an eight-week long spectacle of exciting cricket.
