Tamim Iqbal’s health conditions improve, next 48 to 72 hours critical

Former Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal‘s health conditions are improving as informed by Health Directorate Director General Professor Abu Jafar. However, he also mentioned that the next 48 to 72 hours will be critical for the player. Tamim suffered a heart attack while he was playing the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shine Pukur. He is currently under observation at the Savar Hospital.

Tamim was admitted after feeling discomfort in his chest and had to undergo angiogram surgery to get a blockage removed in one of the arteries. The doctors did a successful operation, taking the cricketer out of danger.

Tamim’s condition is improving, and he has started walking a little. However, the next 48 to 72 hours remain critical. He must wait at least three months before resuming normal activities, including sports. His family will make the final decision, but we have strongly advised against any premature movements,” said Professor Jafar, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Professor Abdul Wadud, director of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, also spoke to the media and informed about the player’s conditions. Although the player’s heart functions are normal, there can still be some ‘abnormal rhythms,’ and that is why, for now, they have restricted the player’s movement until his conditions improve.

His heart function appears normal, but we must remain cautious. Abnormal rhythms could still occur. We have advised against immediate movement. While Tamim’s condition has improved, a sudden deterioration cannot be ruled out. It is crucial to minimize exertion and maintain strict monitoring,” said Wadud.

Meanwhile, Tamim expressed gratitude towards the doctors in a Facebook post. “By the grace of Allah and all your prayers, I have come back,” he wrote. “I am fortune that so many amazing people were around me in my time of need. All your efforts and prudence helped me overcome the crisis. My request is for everyone to stand by each other. I thank all of you. Keep praying for me and my family. Without you, there’s no Tamim Iqbal.”

Mayank Yadav insulted On Air by Tamim Iqbal, Murali Kartik gives the latter a beating

Young team fast bowler Mayank Yadav has grabbed attention since his debut for the national cricket team during the first T20I match against Bangladesh.

Tamim Iqbal said that Mayank Yadav hasn’t touched a speed of 150 kph during the T20I series, and Murali Kartik delivered a brutal three-word reply on air.

Mayank consistently bowled at speeds over 150 kph in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024).

The right-arm fast bowler also bowled the fastest delivery of the season when he bowled at 156.7 kph. He secured back-to-back Player of the Match awards in his first two games for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

He was sidelined after playing just four matches due to an abdominal strain. Mayank then recovered at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where he regained match fitness. He received his maiden international call-up for the series against Bangladesh despite not playing domestic cricket.

Mayank Yadav Has Not Touched 150 – Tamim Iqbal

Mayank started his international career with a maiden over during the first T20I in Gwalior.

He played his second T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, where India secured an 86-run win over Bangladesh. He bowled at 149 kph in the first T20I but didn’t breach the 150 kph in the series.

During the commentary, Tamim Iqbal said that Mayank hasn’t bowled at his usual top speed. The cricketer-turned-commentator added that Mayank Yadav has not touched 150 kph in this series. Tamim was countered by co-commentator Murali Kartik, who quipped that neither has Bangladesh.

“Mayank Yadav has not touched 150 in this series,” Tamim Iqbal said during commentary.

“Neither has Bangladesh,” replied Murali Kartik, who was his fellow commentator.

I Was Bit More Nervous – Mayank Yadav

Speaking on Jio Cinema after India’s clinical win in Gwalior, Mayank said that he was nervous during his debut, especially since he hadn’t played competitive cricket following his injury. Mayank added that the recovery process was challenging with ups and downs over the last four months.

“I was indeed excited but was a bit more nervous. This series marked my comeback after the injury. I didn’t play competitive cricket and then directly made my debut. That’s why I was a little more nervous,” Yadav had told Jio Cinema.

“The recovery period was tough for more. Quite a lot of ups and downs were there in the last 4 months. But more than me, it was tougher for the people who worked with me,” he added.

Mayank Yadav Took One Wicket In Second T20I Match

The Najmul Hossain Shanto-led team was bowled out for only 127 runs in Gwalior. The visitors managed to score 135 for the loss of 9 wickets while chasing a target of 222 in Delhi. Mayank took the wicket of Jaker Ali, who scored just one run, during the second T20I of the ongoing three-match series.

The third and final T20I match of the series will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday, October 12. Mayank could be given a rest as the hosts have already clinched the series.

We will do whatever Tamim Iqbal wants: Nazmul Hassan Papon

Just after the first ODI between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, veteran opener Tamim Iqbal announced his retirement from international cricket. These incidents happened really quickly as Bangladesh cricket moved really fast. They suffered a series defeat at the hands of Afghanistan but the team will be content to see Tamim make his return, especially ahead of the upcoming ODI World Cup.

Meanwhile, the BCB president, Nazmul Hassan Papon, on Sunday, July 23, said that the board was ready to do everything to help Tamim regain his full fitness.

Now if Tamim comes back, then he will lead the team and if not, then someone else will lead the team. We are not sure about his return, or which match he will able to play and when he will be able to play. I cannot make any comments without any knowledge (about Tamim’s return). But we want him to return as soon as possible with full recovery,” Papon concluded.

Reports: Tamim Iqbal to meet Bangladesh’s Prime Minister post shocking retirement announcement

Former Bangladesh ODI skipper, Tamim Iqbal, recently, came forward to shock the cricketing fraternity and announced that he would be taking his retirement from the sport with immediate effect. In an emotional press conference, Tamim announced his retirement after Bangladesh’s recent loss in the first ODI of the series against Afghanistan.

However, following the sudden announcement of his retirement, sources close to the situation stated that the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, summoned him for an impromptu chat with him and will even discuss his decision to retire.

Tamim did not mention the reason for his sudden retirement, however, many sources stated that the recent comments of Bangladesh’s cricket board members made him feel like the senior cricketers were not needed in the team anymore. However, the same has yet to be confirmed.

Tamim left Chattogram for Dhaka recently and will be travelling to Dubai on July 28 with his family. He is expected to meet the Prime Minister anytime on Friday, July 7.

Bangladesh look to comeback in the series

Talking about the ongoing series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, both sides locked horns in the ODI series after their only Test match, which Bangladesh won in a dominant fashion. However, they were faced with a completely different Afghanistan team in the ODI game.

As rain played spoilsport throughout several stages of the game, the match was shortened quite a bit. In the 43 overs that were played, Bangladesh notched up 169 runs on the board, as Afghanistan did a commendable job with the ball and limited the hosts to a subpar total.

Aiming to chase the target down, Afghanistan lost only two wickets and scored 83 runs in 21.4 overs before rain interrupted play once again. As the DLS rule came into play, the visitors were named the winners of the game by 17 runs.

As the second ODI of the series approaches, Bangladesh will look to heavily improve on their performances if they are looking to win the ODI series as well.

  • “It shouldn’t have come out”: Tamim Iqbal opens up about rift with Shakib al Hasan

“It shouldn’t have come out”: Tamim Iqbal opens up about rift with Shakib al Hasan

The cricket fraternity was taken by storm after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassanto revealed in an interview that there’s a rift between Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal and Test captain Shakib al Hasan. Hassanto had alleged that both Tamim and Shakib do not talk with each other off the field.

The disclosure by the BCB President soon became the talk of the town, and the fans were keen to know the authenticity of the news. Seeing the effect and seriousness of the matter, Tamim decided to face the questions of journalists in a press conference at Shere-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday (February 26). The 33-year-old opener began by saying that it was important to clarify things, and that he was prepared to respond to all the queries of reporters.

“I was prepared since yesterday. I have never seen so many journalists in one room. I knew these questions would come. It would have been very easy for me to say “no comments, let’s move forward”, but I think it was important to give my message to the journalists and fans. This is why I was happy to answer,” said Tamim.

Tamim further shed light on his relations with Shakib but refused to deny the claims made by the BCB President.

“The important thing is when Shakib and I put on the Bangladesh jersey, when we are giving our best, if we are helping each other when we are leading the teams, nothing else matters. Whatever anyone is saying, whether we have coffee together, these things don’t matter I can assure you that I always get his help as an ODI captain, and I am always there if he needs any suggestions in the Test team. When we bat together, or when we are celebrating his wicket, its absolutely normal,” added the opener.

When asked about if there was a possibility of a patch-up between the two compatriots outside the field without any involvement of the board, Tamim expressed his resentment over the fact that the news came out in public. However, he did not rule out the chance of sorting things out with Shakib.

“Everything is possible. It was between two individuals who are very important members of the team. It shouldn’t have come out of that room. I am not commenting on that,” stated Tamim.
