Argentina’s men’s national football team, which won back-to-back Copa America titles, has been named AIPS Team of the Year 2024, while the Paris 2024 Olympic Games took home the AIPS Best Press Facilities award. This is the result of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) poll, in which a panel of 518 journalists from 111 countries voted.

Football dominated the fiercely contested Best Team category, in which La Albiceleste received 579 points to win the award for the third consecutive time, beating Euro 2024 champions Spain (552 points) and Real Madrid (532 points), winners of the Champions League, LaLiga, UEFA Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup in 2024.

Thanks to an extra-time goal from substitute Lautaro Martinez, the reigning world champions ended Colombia’s 28-match unbeaten run in the Copa America 2024 final at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on July 15 to claim their third consecutive major title. Martinez was the tournament’s top scorer with five goals, while Emiliano Martinez was the best goalkeeper.

Two months later, La Albiceleste would see their own 12-match unbeaten run come to a dramatic end as Colombia secured a 2-1 World Cup qualifying victory. Despite suffering two defeats and a draw in the 2024 qualifying schedule, Argentina still sit comfortably at the top of the table with 25 points from 12 matches.

  • LeBron James boldly names Olympic Sports he'd also win a gold medal in without a doubt

LeBron James boldly names Olympic Sports he'd also win a gold medal in without a doubt

LeBron James just added another sparkling chapter to his already legendary career, and this time, it’s not just about his prowess on the court. The King led Team USA to Olympic gold in Paris this summer, clinching his third gold medal and, for the first time ever, the prestigious Olympic MVP award.

But LeBron being LeBron, he’s not content with just dominating one sport. In a recent episode of ‘The Shop,‘ the conversation took a turn to the hypothetical: What other Olympic sports could James crush if he decided to step off the hardwood? Without missing a beat, LeBron threw out two contenders-long jump and high jump.

And if you think he’s just talking, think again. LeBron didn’t just say he could compete; he said he could win.“I’m a podium-only guy,” James declared, oozing confidence like only a man with three Olympic golds can. He even laid out a plan-give him six to eight months to train, and he’s certain he could snag another medal.

LeBron James’ belief in his ability to conquer new Olympic sports is impressive

Now, this kind of talk might sound crazy coming from anyone else, but we’re dealing with LeBron James here. This is a guy who’s made a career out of doing the impossible. The idea of him pivoting from basketball to track and field? It’s not just believable; it’s downright exciting.

The fact that LeBron could entertain this thought without anyone immediately laughing him off says a lot about his unparalleled athleticism. Who else could casually mention winning a medal in a completely different sport and make people actually believe it?

Lebron James clarifies what Bronny should not call him in front of the team

So, here we are, left to wonder-could LeBron really pull it off? If the King gets his six months of prep time, would you bet against him? If history has taught us anything, it’s this: when LeBron James sets his mind to something, all bets are off.

In the video, Adebayo is seen rushing out of a shopping mall in Paris clearly avoiding the camera, but trying to make it “very normal” looking to go unnoticed, while Wilson follows behind calmly. The two get into the same car on the Avenue des Champs Elysees in France.

  • Steph Curry's wife and mother HARRASED while carrying 3-month-old baby in Paris

Steph Curry's wife and mother HARRASED while carrying 3-month-old baby in Paris

Not everything at Paris 2024 was a celebration for Team USA, particularly for Stephen Curry, who faced a frightening moment in the streets of France.

His wife, Ayesha Curry, endured a terrifying ordeal in Paris when she was seen with their crying 3-month-old baby, surrounded by police officers. The apparent harassment escalated, leading to an intervention by the authorities, leaving the family shaken in what should have been a time of joy.

A shocking encounter in the heart of Paris

Amid the clash of cultures and a language barrier, what should have been a routine day in Paris turned into a dramatic ordeal for the Curry family. Unaware of local customs and unable to fully grasp what was happening, they attempted to enter a restricted street, only to be met with less-than-polite warnings to stay away.

Tensions quickly escalated as Ayesha Curry, holding her baby, was seen in tears, desperately trying to comfort the little one, who reportedly suffered a minor head injury in the chaos as authorities tried to move them along.

What was later revealed to be a simple misunderstanding spiraled into a scene that left the Currys visibly shaken. Ayesha and her mother-in-law, Sonya, found themselves in a heated confrontation with police who blocked their path to their car. The street had been cordoned off for a reason: French President Emmanuel Macron was about to pass through, leading to strict security measures that no one, including the Currys, was allowed to breach.

As of now, the exact resolution of this unsettling moment remains unknown, leaving fans and onlookers wondering how the situation finally came to an end.

  • Simone Biles, the viral childhood video that reveals the birth of an Olympic legend

Simone Biles, the viral childhood video that reveals the birth of an Olympic legend

Simone Biles, one of the most iconic figures in world gymnastics, has captured the hearts of millions with her talent and perseverance now at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.

In an adorable video, the diminutive Biles is seen sulking as she falls during a vault vault, pouting a little as she receives advice from her coach. This tender moment is part of her long road and arduous preparation since she was a child to become the most decorated gymnast of all time.

Biles’ story began when she was just six years old. During a field trip to the Bannon Gymnastix gymnastics center, she began mimicking other gymnasts in the back of the gym. One of the coaches, Mrs. Ronnie, noticed her natural talent.

Since the age of eight, Simone has trained under the tutelage of Aimee Boorman, dedicating countless hours to perfecting her skill. To maximize her training time, she graduated from high school in 2015 through home study.

Biles’ career has not been without its challenges. The Larry Nassar scandal, the doctor who abused numerous gymnasts, including Simone, rocked the gymnastics world. Nassar is now serving between 40 and 175 years in prison. This summer, with the U.S. gymnastics team participating in the Paris Olympics, Nassar has been “a target” in prison.

At Tokyo 2020, Simone faced a mental breakdown that led her to withdraw from several competitions, a decision that was criticized, but showed her courage in prioritizing her mental well-being. Now, in Paris 2024, she is back with a bang, winning gold in the team event and the all-around, bringing her Olympic medal total to six golds, one silver and two bronzes. With 40 medals between Olympic Games and World Championships, Biles consolidates her position as the most decorated gymnast in history.

At 27, Biles is considered a veteran in a sport that usually favors teenagers and young adults for its flexibility. Looking ahead, one more Olympic cycle would have her competing in Los Angeles 2028 at age 31.

Married in 2023, Simone may also be thinking about starting a family, a challenge many elite athletes face when trying to balance professional and personal life.

Simone Biles has proven that greatness is not only measured in medals, but also in the ability to overcome adversity and stand firm in her convictions. Her story continues to inspire future generations of gymnasts and sports fans around the world.

Hailey Van Lith delivered a message after the defending champion U.S. posted its third straight win with an overtime victory against Canada in women’s 3×3 basketball pool play at the Paris Olympics following three straight losses to start the tournament.

“We have a lot of tweets bookmarked on how we shouldn’t come back to the States,” she said. “So we haven’t forgotten.”

Rhyne Howard‘s 2-point shot in overtime lifted the U.S. to an 18-17 win over Canada after the Americans beat France 14-13 earlier Friday.

“After that third loss we had a heart-to-heart as a team and we were like ‘we didn’t come this far to lose,’” Dearica Hamby said. “We weren’t the favorites so to say but we’re still USA basketball and gold is the standard.”

Hamby made a layup with four seconds remaining in the victory over France.

  • Kevin Durant claps back at Keyshawn Johnson's critique over Warriors' success

Kevin Durant claps back at Keyshawn Johnson's critique over Warriors' success

Kevin Durant has recently been at the center of social media buzz, responding robustly to critiques about his career decisions. On Monday, former NFL player Keyshawn Johnson took a jab at Durant’s choice to join the Golden State Warriors in 2016. During his guest appearance on “Undisputed Live,” Johnson suggested that the Warriors’ success could have been replicated with another player, such as Paul Pierce.

Johnson‘s comment downplayed Durant‘s role in the Warriors’ achievements, implying the team could have thrived with Pierce instead. “If I put Paul Pierce on the Golden State Warriors with Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Steph Curry, you don’t think he could do the same?” Johnson questioned.

Durant, never one to shy away from defending his legacy, responded on social media. He countered Johnson‘s hypothetical with one of his own, suggesting the Jets could have benefited from different choices in the 1996 NFL Draft. Durant tweeted, “If the Jets would’ve taken Jonathan Ogden, Marvin Harrison, Ray Lewis, or Eddie George number 1, they would’ve been better off. I hate hypotheticals.”

Durant‘s tenure with the Warriors was marked by significant success. From 2017 to 2019, he helped the team win back-to-back NBA championships and reach three consecutive Finals. His impressive averages of 25.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game highlight his vital contribution to the team’s dominance. Many believe the Warriors might have won a third straight title if Durant hadn’t ruptured his Achilles during the 2019 Finals against the Toronto Raptors.

Beyond social media spats, Durant has also drawn attention in the context of Team USA basketball. Despite missing all exhibition games, Durant played a prominent role in Team USA’s opening 110-84 win on Sunday, overshadowing Jayson Tatum, who did not play. Durant’s efficient performance, scoring 23 points on 8-of-9 shooting, caught the eye of analyst Kendrick Perkins. On “First Take,” Perkins highlighted Durant’s importance in past Team USA victories, noting, “The last time Team USA won the gold, Kevin Durant was the best player. And Jayson Tatum was the second-best player.”

Kevin Durant remains a formidable presence both on the court and in the digital arena, continually asserting his impact and legacy in the face of criticism.
