Cam Ward delivers fearless message to Titans on Pro Day

It had been leaked that top Tennessee Titans officials attended Cam Ward‘s Pro Day in Miami. They did it along with other evaluators, but knowing that they are one of the teams that have high chances of getting him in the NFL Draft next April.

Against this backdrop, and with the conditions he has shown in his collegiate career, he is the favorite to become the first selection, although there is a serious debate about whether he is the best choice before the other available players such as Colorado Quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter or Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter.

That escalated quickly! Shedeur Sanders tackles Cam Ward after a heated verbal exchange

Cam Ward, confident and with a message for the Titans

The 23-year-old quarterback sat down to talk with NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger and Cameron Wolfe about his Pro Day goals, where he sent a message while executing some of his drives.

“I said, ‘I’m solidifying it today,’” Ward said on NFL Network when asked about what he told members of the Titans staff he had nearby as he was executing.

    Titans with No. 1 pick

The team is in a prime position where they can select a Quarterback, but not before signing Brandon Allen to be Will Levis’ backup. Allen has been a third-string player in the past, so it would make sense for the Titans to bring him in that capacity.

This means the Titans are preparing to add another element at this position this offseason, either in the latter part of free agency or in the draft.

Cam Ward’s future with Cleveland Browns suffers setback as Titans join battle for former Miami Quarterback

The team have hosted Ward for a pre-draft visit and met with him for dinner while he was in Miami, so it’s clear he’s in the running for the first pick.

The Titans have also sent the entire house from Nashville. Present at their Pro Day were head coach Brian Callahan, general manager Mike Borgonzi, and President Burke Nihill, even the website production and Titans TV were on hand to see just how special Cam Ward was.

  • Cowboys make trade for player that might make their porous run defense even worse

Cowboys make trade for player that might make their porous run defense even worse

The onus is always on the Dallas Cowboys to be aggressive in free agency and in the NFL Draft. That comes with the territory of being “America’s Team“, a moniker that has brought about extremely high expectations for the franchise for nearly five decades. But in recent times, these offseasons have been more important than in the past.

The reason for that is the team has found postseason success way too hard to come by. Dallas hasn’t made a Super Bowl since 1996, which was also the last time they won their conference. Despite having a good amount of division success, it hasn’t led to playoff wins, putting Jerry Jones under a lot of pressure to make the right moves. Coming off of a poor season that led to the departue of Mike McCarthy, Jones needed to be aggressive this offseason. Instead, he has chosen to be “selectively aggressive“.

They might let him go! Cowboys next big mistake after this runningback with spectacular talent

One of the areas where the Cowboys needed to get better was in run defense. The front seven constantly got gashed by opposing running backs, giving up over 100 rushing yards in nearly half of their games. Jones did well to quickly re-sign Osa Odighizuwa for the defensive line, while Solomon Thomas should help out there as well. But on Wednesday, the Cowboys traded for a player who may actually make their run defense worse than last year.

Cowboys trade with Titans for Kenneth Murray Jr.

The Tennesee Titans shipped Kenneth Murray Jr. to the Cowboys for a swap of late-round picks. The compensation is cheap, but Murray being on the field at all will make runnning backs’ eyes pop. According to Pro Football Focus, Murray ranked 185th out of 189 linebackers in run defense grade last season. His previous seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers weren’t much better either.

Murray is an athletic specimen and can run and hit, but he also isn’t a great coverage linebacker. He ranked 119th out of 189 there last season. Given that the Cowboys signed Jack Sanborn to a one-year deal, it’s possible the two will battle it out for a starting spot. It doesn’t inspire confidence for a unit low on talent, though.

  • Tennessee Titans make move that all but signals they won't be drafting Cam Ward first overall

Tennessee Titans make move that all but signals they won't be drafting Cam Ward first overall

Every NFL offseason is important for every NFL team. It’s hard to go from being a bad team to being a contender in the span of a couple of months, but franchises can turn their fortunes around by hitting home runs in free agency and the NFL Draft. While that is the goal for every team, it’s especially important for the team with the No. 1 overall pick.

This year, that belongs to the Tennessee Titans. A franchise somewhat in flux, they could really use a franchise quarterback. Unfortunately for the Titans and new general manager Mike Borgonzi, this draft class doesn’t have a clear-cut, can’t-miss prospect at the position. Miami’s Cam Ward is the consensus top quarterback, but even he has question marks surrounding his decision making ability on the gridiron.

Ideal receivers! Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders share which famous person they would love to throw to

Titans release Harold Landry and Abdul Carter responds

No one knows if the Titans will stick at No. 1 overall and draft Ward or a different position, or if they will trade down to accumulate more picks. Fans may have gotten a signal on Friday, though. The team released Pro Bowl defensive end Harold Landry. Immediately after the move, potential first overall pick Abdul Carter tweeted two emojis that have many wondering if it means he’s heading to the Titans.

Carter is the top player on many draft analysts’ boards due to his incredible athleticism and flexibility as an EDGE player. Carter has reportedly been in consideration for the No. 1 pick all offseason.

Tennessee currently has very few defensive ends that can rush off the edge. Arden Key is really the only one. They will clearly address the position in free agency, but this makes them much more likely to draft Carter in April.

The question will be whether they do so with the first overall pick or trade down with the New York Giants and draft him third overall. That is, if the Cleveland Browns don’t take him with the second pick.

  • Shedeur Sanders is clear about where he wants to play: is he a real possibility in the Draft? One prediction says yes

Shedeur Sanders is clear about where he wants to play: is he a real possibility in the Draft? One prediction says yes

Shedeur Sanders‘ future in the NFL promises to be very promising, he will be a player to watch in the draft.

He should already have some suitors at this late stage of the current season, which will be concluded after the end of the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s my turn! Colorado Buffaloes’ newcomer Kaidon Salter claims that he’s going to replace Shedeur Sanders

ESPN are starting to play with the future of the current quarterback of the Colorado Buffaloes, as a whole debate has been generated about what his next challenge in the big leagues should be.

    Related:

In this case, ESPN analyst Matt Miller dared to make a rather controversial prediction. He believes that the Las Vegas Raiders could be a place where he would fit in perfectly to help the team out of the difficult moment they are currently experiencing.

This has generated a mixed reaction as many feel that going to the Raiders at this point would be like burying his career, but it is also true that Saunders is not very close to landing in Las Vegas and it is all speculation.

    More options for Shedeur Sanders

And the fact is that the great skills he has shown in college football make him look like a great prospect for the NFL Draft. He will undoubtedly be one of the favorites, and the variety of teams interested in signing him is not surprising.

One of them would be the Tennessee Titans, who have the first pick and could consider Sanders as the most viable option for the quarterback position.

But another option the Titans would have would be Cam Ward, so they will have a lot to choose from and an avalanche of opinions and decisions among the board.

The Draft can change a team’s fate

It’s no secret that the NFL Draft can change the game, it’s a huge differentiator.

We need to go back in time when the Kansas City Chiefs selected Patrick Mahomes in 2017, wow who would have thought he would become such a tremendous competitive monster.

A few years ago we saw the San Francisco 49ers with Trey Lance, who changed the face of the team’s offense and put his name on the map, then unfortunately he was traded to the Cowboys, but his imprint made an immediate impact.

Whether it’s a future with the Raiders or the Titans, the reality is you have to think about what’s best for the projects and the needs.

  • L'Jarius Sneed already has the contract he wanted with the Titans to the sadness of Mahomes and Andy Reid. How much will he earn?

L'Jarius Sneed already has the contract he wanted with the Titans to the sadness of Mahomes and Andy Reid. How much will he earn?

The departure of L’Jarius Sneed from the Kansas City Chiefs to join the Tennessee Titans was one of the big surprises of this offseason. Now that the initial surprise has passed, the details of the contract have begun to emerge and are even more surprising than the original news.

Sneed was at the end of his rookie contract with the Chiefs, worth $3.9 million over four years. In recent months, the team had tagged the cornerback as the franchise player and offered him a one-year, $19.8 million extension through 2024.

However, Sneed was determined to get a more lucrative and long-term contract, so he decided to listen to offers from other teams, including the Indianapolis Colts and the Titans. In the end, Tennessee won the bidding war with a massive contract that fulfilled all of the player’s wishes.

    Sneed’s new contract

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Titans convinced Sneed to leave the reigning Super Bowl champion with a four-year, $76.4 million deal.

Citing sources close to the negotiation, Rapoport said Sneed received a $20 million signing bonus, and $55 million of the contract is guaranteed. The player’s average salary, according to Spotrac, will be $19.1 million annually, and his base salary for 2024 will be $19.8 million.

The contract with the Titans made Sneed the sixth-highest-paid cornerback, and his guaranteed income is fourth among players at his position.

What it means for the Chiefs

After bolstering their offense by signing the likes of running back Tony Pollard, receiver Calvin Ridley, and center Lloyd Cushenberry, the Titans have taken on the task of strengthening their defense. Before Sneed, they had signed cornerback Chidobe Awuzie from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Aside from losing one of the mainstays of their deep defense, the Chiefs didn’t feel much of an impact on their salary cap, as Sneed’s contract was an entry-level one and had already expired.

In exchange for the player, the Titans only had to trade their seventh-round pick in the 2024 Draft and give up their 2025 third-round pick.

DeAndre Hopkins pops up at Paris Fashion Week in South Park-themed baggy sweater

Well, this certainly wasn’t something Tennessee Titans fans were expecting to see this Friday.

Their top wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, posted a picture of him strutting down the runway at the VETEMENTS show during Paris Fashion Week. More intriguingly, he was sporting an oversized sweater with South Park character ‘Towelie’ on the front.

DeAndre Hopkins x South Park at Paris Fashion Week

Fashion is actually very important for Hopkins. He was named GQ’s “best-dressed athlete” in 2019 and signed with IMG Models in 2020.

In April of last year, he walked the runway at the Fear of God fashion show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. So this is a bit of a hobby for the 31-year-old.

Hopkins seems to be enjoying the offseason following a disappointing first year with the Titans. Tennessee went 6-11, although Hopkins still went over 1,000 yards on the season and developed a great rapport with rookie quarterback Will Levis.

With offensive-minded Brian Callahan at head coach now, Hopkins should be in line for another strong offensive season.

  • Just-fired coach immediately emerges as top candidate to replace Bill Belichick in New England

Just-fired coach immediately emerges as top candidate to replace Bill Belichick in New England

As speculation and intrigue continues to swirl around the future of Bill Belichick, the New England Patriots are reportedly zeroing in on his replacement — who just became a lot easier to acquire.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft has earmarked former New England star Mike Vrabel as Belichick‘s eventual replacement. The Tennessee Titans surprisingly dismissed Vrabel as their head coach on Tuesday, opening the door for the Patriots to pursue him if and when they part ways with Belichick.

Travis Kelce full of praise for Bill Belichick after Chiefs game

    New England’s long memory

The Patriots anticipated needing to talk with the Titans about a rare coaching trade, which would have seen them potentially part with draft picks in exchange for landing Vrabel as Belichick’s replacement. But Vrabel, a former All-Pro linebacker in New England between 2001 and 2008, is now free to join any team he wishes — and Kraft‘s desire to sign him extends far beyond his achievements as a player.

Kraft and the Patriots remember how Vrabel led the underdog Titans into Gillette Stadium on Jan. 4, 2020 and masterminded a 20-13 upset victory — a game which ended the Belichick-Tom Brady dynasty that made Vrabel a three-time Super Bowl champion. Brady left New England for Tampa Bay that offseason, and the Patriots have played one postseason game since.

Why did the Titans change course?

Titans ownership decided that Vrabel was no longer the right coach for a team that appears ready to undergo a major overhaul this offseason. This was despite ownership backing Vrabel during a disappointing season.

Tennessee posted a 6-11 record in 2023, missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season — and finishing with a bottom-five scoring offense for the second season running, despite the emergence of rookie quarterback Will Levis. The Titans will be picking seventh overall in the 2024 NFL Draft and will hope to land a difference-maker on offense — but it’s now an open question as to who will be coaching up that top-10 talent, whoever it is.

  • Frank Wycheck cause of death: What did the Titans legend die of?

Frank Wycheck cause of death: What did the Titans legend die of?

Frank Wycheck, a beloved Tennessee Titans legend, has passed away at the age of 52.

The former tight end, renowned for his contributions to the team both on and off the field, died following a tragic fall inside his Chattanooga, TN home.

According to a statement from the family, Wycheck was found unresponsive on Saturday afternoon after falling and hitting his head that morning.

The family revealed that they plan to collaborate with experts for ongoing research on brain injuries (TBI) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), honoring Wycheck’s wishes.

Frank Wycheck’s unforgettable play: “Music City Miracle”

Wycheck’s impact on the Titans, both during his playing days and in his post-retirement endeavors, resonated deeply with fans and teammates alike.

His blue-collar approach and undeniable talent led to a standout career, during which he amassed 505 receptions, 5,126 yards, and 28 touchdowns over 155 games.

Beyond the gridiron, Wycheck continued to make a significant mark as a sports commentator and radio host in Middle Tennessee.

Wycheck’s legacy extends beyond statistics, as he played a pivotal role in one of the most iconic moments in Titans history-the Music City Miracle.

His lateral on a kickoff return to Kevin Dyson during the AFC Wild Card game in 2000 will forever be etched in the hearts of Titans fans.

Despite facing a series of concussions that contributed to his retirement from the NFL at 32, Wycheck left the game with a sense of accomplishment and pride.

In the words of late Titans owner Bud Adams, “Overall, I think he was one of the top players ever to play for us because of what he did both on and off the field.”
