Socceroos star Jackson Irvine was forced to postpone his wedding after making one wild mistake.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old midfielder spent two booze-fuelled days celebrating promotion after leading St Pauli back into Germany\u2019s top tier league with a 3-1 win over VFL Osnabruck on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Irvine was due to tie the knot with his longtime partner Jemilla Pir in Denmark on Tuesday, but he had made one glaring mistake as he got caught up in the celebrations.<\/p>\n

The pair kept things low-key by going into a government building, but Irvine left behind one key document … his passport.<\/p>\n

In order to get married in Denmark, both parties must present a valid passport. As Irvine had left his behind, presumably at the hotel, Danish officials were left with no choice but to refuse to marry the pair.<\/p>\n

Jemilla took to social media to share the rather unfortunate news that their magical day was on hold.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019ve been drunk for 2 days and forget to take your passport to your marriage appointment,\u201d she wrote followed by three clown emojis.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s try again tomorrow,\u201d she added. \u201c(Party tonight is still on).\u201d<\/p>\n

Thankfully the mishap was corrected the very next day as Pir posted on Instagram a photo of the pair with Irvine holding onto their passports.<\/p>\n

Second time around everything went according to plan as the pair tied the knot and became husband and wife.<\/p>\n

Before the wedding mishap unfolded, Irvine, the St Pauli captain, said his \u201cemotions\u201d were \u201cgoing crazy\u201d after helping secure promotion back to the top league.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never felt anything like it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m completely overwhelmed. It\u2019s just incredible to see how much it means to people, not just us.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is why I came here. I wanted to achieve something for the fans and give the people something and we\u2019ve done that by getting promoted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve all invested so much, week in, week out, and it\u2019s a huge honour to be captain of this team, something I don\u2019t take for granted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had belief going into the game. We were prepared. We wanted to give our utmost and leave everything on the pitch and all of us gave everything to seal promotion.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the only way we were going to go up.\u201d<\/p>\n

St Pauli hasn\u2019t played in the Bundesliga since being relegated in the 2010-11 season.<\/p>\n

The win came thanks to a brace from Dapo Afolayan and a goal from the club\u2019s top scorer Marcel Hartel.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s indescribable. We were able to give something back to the fans for their incredible support,\u201d coach Fabian Huerzeler said on Sky.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an extreme relief and the crowning glory of our season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Irvine joined St Pauli in 2021 from Scottish club Hibernian, while fellow midfielder and ex-Melbourne City star Connor Metcalfe has been at the Hamburg-based club since 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
