Josh Giddey produces plenty of highlights on the court but the Australian guard was already turning heads off it when he arrived at the NBA Rising Stars Challenge on Saturday [AEDT].<\/p>\n
Giddey, who is averaging 16.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 5.9 assists in his sophomore campaign, earned selection as an NBA Rising Star for the second-straight season.<\/p>\n
The 20-year-old was taken with the fourth overall pick by former Chicago Bull and now Rising Stars coach Joakim Noah, with his team going all the way to the final. <\/p>\n

Start your free trial now<\/a> ><\/b><\/i><\/p>\n Embiid helps Philly put Cavs away | 00:52<\/p>\n Giddey\u2019s silky skills were on full display in the 40-32 semi-final win against Jason Terry\u2019s team, dishing out dimes as he scored three points to go with six assists and three rebounds.<\/p>\n The rising Oklahoma City Thunder star even showed off his multi-tasking skills in the victory, running the offence while also speaking to the broadcast team while mic\u2019d up. <\/p>\n Giddey was less involved in the finals as Team Noah went down to Team Pau Gasol 25-20, managing just two points along with three rebounds and an assist.<\/p>\n But in his short time on the court Giddey was a walking highlight-reel and earned widespread praise from rival players who spoke to The Oklahoman\u2019s <\/a><\/i>Joe Mussatto<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n Knicks guard Quentin Grimes said Giddey was \u201calmost a walking triple-double every night\u201d while New Orleans\u2019 Jose Alvarado described the Australian as \u201cahead of his time\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s a really good player,\u201d said Grimes. <\/p>\n \u201cHe can pass the ball, he can score, rebound, almost a walking triple-double every night.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cSmart,\u201d Alvarado added of Giddey. <\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s ahead of his time. This is his second year, right? He\u2019s playing like a vet.\u201d <\/p>\n Evan Mobley formed a strong connection with Giddey, who continually fed the Cavaliers forward the ball in the paint. <\/p>\n Bucks bag big win over Boston in East | 01:01<\/p>\n \u201cHe has great vision,\u201d Mobley said.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, he\u2019s a great point guard. He\u2019s always been a great passer.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking to reporters after the event wrapped up, Giddey said it was a \u201cfun night\u201d and that he enjoyed being able to adapt his playing style to that of different young players in the league.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is fun and the thing about it is, it\u2019s easier than it looks, trying to fit in your game with different play styles and guys you\u2019ve never played with before because you play against them and watch them on TV every night so you understand how they play,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n \u201cI was just trying to get loose and get guys involved. Fun night.\u201d<\/p>\n Giddey was certainly dressed to impress too, turning up in a striking blue coat which he later explained was inspired by a post he saw from pop star Justin Bieber on Instagram.<\/p>\n \u201cI saw it on Justin Bieber,\u201d Giddey said. <\/p>\n \u201cIt came up on my Instagram randomly. I sent it to one of my guys and we got it custom made just in time for tonight. It\u2019s definitely the boldest thing I\u2019ve ever worn.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
