An iconic photo of LeBron James breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar\u2019s NBA scoring record <\/a>is blowing the minds of sports fans around the world \u2013 but it\u2019s got nothing to do with King James\u2019 perfect fadeaway technique.<\/p>\n

Instead eagle-eyed fans quickly drew everyone\u2019s attention to a man sitting in the front-row, seemingly the only fan in Crypto.com Arena who was witnessing the historic moment with their own two eyes rather than through their smartphone.<\/p>\n

But that man in the front wasn\u2019t just any fan \u2013 upon closer inspection it was revealed the attentive fan was in fact Nike founder Phil Knight, sitting alongside LeBron\u2019s two sons Bronny and Bryce.<\/p>\n

Knight\u2019s relaxed demeanour was in complete contrast to the hundreds of fans around him fighting for the best angle for their video or photo.<\/p>\n

The image quickly blew up on social media with many marvelling over Knight just as much as they were celebrating LeBron as he broke what was once considered an \u201cunbreakable\u201d record.<\/p>\n

Many joked that Knight\u2019s ability to live in the moment was less about his zen-like calmness than the fact he would have likely had a camera crew filming every conceivable angle of the shot.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because LeBron is one of the greatest athletes every signed to Nike\u2019s stable of superstar athletes, both past and present.<\/p>\n

The 38-year-old has been contracted to Nike ever since he signed a A$130m shoe deal as an 18-year-old, with reports he\u2019ll earn more than US$1bn across his lifetime from a single shoe deal signed in 2016.<\/p>\n

Therefore it\u2019s little wonder how Knight scored a front-row seats alongside LeBron\u2019s family to witness the modern-day legend\u2019s moment of history.<\/p>\n

And the Nike founder was also granted face-to-face time with LeBron after the Lakers\u2019 130-133 loss to the Thunder, with social media footage showing Knight telling LeBron \u201cI wouldn\u2019t have missed it\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, LeBron\u2019s wife Savannah, was sitting courtside at Crypto.com Arena when the Lakers star surpassed Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA\u2019s all-time leading scorer.<\/p>\n

Savannah \u2014 who has been by James\u2019 side long before he signed his first NBA contract with the Cavaliers in 2003 \u2014 spoke about his professional journey in a heartfelt video, which also featured congratulatory messages from his whole family.<\/p>\n

\u201cHi my love, I am here to congratulate you on becoming the NBA\u2019s all-time leading scorer,\u201d Savannah said in the video. <\/p>\n

\u201cI am so proud of you. I witness day-in and day-out the hard work, the sacrifice, and the professionalism that you put into this game every single day.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know how hard you work. I know that this was not something that you set out to do, but you\u2019ve done it and you should congratulate yourself, you should celebrate yourself. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou deserve all the flowers, you deserve all the respect and I just want to tell you how proud of you I am. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt couldn\u2019t be happening to a better, more dedicated to the game person. Congratulations, again, I love you.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple\u2019s kids \u2014 Bronny James Jr., 18, Bryce Maximus, 15, and 8-year-old Zhuri Nova \u2014 were featured in the video and praised their father for his accomplishments on the court.<\/p>\n

James\u2019 mother, Gloria, as well as his mother-in-law, Jennifer Brinson, also shared congratulatory messages.<\/p>\n

James topped the NBA\u2019s all-time scoring list on a fadeaway jumper with 10.9 seconds left in the third quarter of what would be a 133-130 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Abdul-Jabbar sat courtside as James made history.<\/p>\n

James, who entered the game with 38,352 points, needed 36 to pass Abdul-Jabbar\u2019s 38,387 career points \u2014 a record Abdul-Jabbar has held for more than 38 years. James finished the game with 38 points on 13-of-20 shooting, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.<\/p>\n

\u201cI write \u2018The Man In The Arena\u2019 on my shoe every single night from Theodore Roosevelt,\u201d James said. <\/p>\n

\u201cTonight, I actually felt like I was sitting on top of the arena when that shot went in, and the roar from the crowd. I\u2019m not sure if I would be able to feel that feeling again, unless it\u2019s a game-winning Finals shot.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything just stopped. It gave me an opportunity to embrace it and look around and seeing my family, the fans, my friends. It was pretty cool. I probably can count on my hands how many times I have cried in 20 years, either in happiness or in defeat. So that moment was one of them when I kind of teared up a little bit. It was \u2018I can\u2019t believe what\u2019s going on\u2019 tears.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both past and present NBA stars praised James after the feat, including Lakers legend Magic Johnson and Warriors star Steph Curry.<\/p>\n

Rap icon Jay-Z was also in the building to witness James\u2019 historic moment. <\/p>\n

Elsewhere, music superstars such as Rihanna, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar congratulated James in a tribute video that also featured cameos by Shaquille O\u2019Neal and Carmelo Anthony.<\/p>\n
