Gary Neville says Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, Raphael Varane and David de Gea are Manchester United\u2019s most important players.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But there was no room for Bruno Fernandes<\/a>, as the Red Devils legend left the stand-in skipper out of his top three.<\/p>\n

Fernandes has established himself as one of United<\/a>\u2018s key players since joining from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, where he has often worn the captain\u2019s armband with Harry Maguire regularly benched by Erik ten Hag.<\/p>\n

However he has been overlooked by Neville<\/a> \u2013 despite the Portugal international chipping in with seven goals and ten assists in 39 games in all competitions this term.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, Rashford<\/a> and Casemiro are in the top two, with the latter\u2019s move from Real Madrid last summer leading to with United\u2019s rise up the Premier League table.<\/p>\n

Rashford is currently enjoying his best ever season in terms of goals having banged in 25 goals, while also providing nine assists.<\/p>\n

As for defensive midfielder Casemiro<\/a>, he has found the back of the net five times \u2013 including during last weekend\u2019s Carabao Cup final win over Newcastle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Giving his rundown on Sky Sports<\/a>, Neville said: \u201cI\u2019d go in order, I\u2019d go Casemiro, I\u2019d go Rashford, I\u2019d go [David] De Gea and [Raphael] Varane \u2013 equal third at this moment in time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t believe that I\u2019m saying \u2013 forget Casemiro he wasn\u2019t here last year \u2013 but I can\u2019t believe that I\u2019m saying that Varane, De Gea and Rashford have elevated themselves into a position whereby you feel they are in great form, without them, that Manchester United\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cYou saw last night [against West Ham in FA Cup], De Gea made saves, Rashford had to come on, Casemiro has to come on, Varane didn\u2019t come on.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I do feel as though he\u2019s the most important centre-back now \u2013 particularly in the big matches.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that\u2019s why he was rested, and he gets rested for the bigger games.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously he has injury problems sometimes and has done in the last two or three years.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Casemiro followed by Rashford, and then I\u2019d go for Varane and De Gea in third position equally.\u201d<\/p>\n

The quartet are set to start against Liverpool on Sunday where anything but a win for United would put a serious dent in their faint title hopes.<\/p>\n

United are currently sit in third spot \u2013 11 points behind league leaders Arsenal \u2013 though Ten Hag\u2019s men do have a game in hand over the Gunners as well as second-placed Manchester City, who they are six points behind.<\/p>\n
