Chelsea have no interest in keeping striker Romelu Lukaku after his loan at Inter Milan comes to an end, according to reports in Italy.<\/p>\n
Lukaku re-joined Chelsea in the summer of 2021 for a club-record \u00a397.5million fee.<\/p>\n
He hit the ground running before a controversial interview with Sky Italia<\/em> derailed his season.<\/p>\n The Belgian striker explained how he was struggling to adapt to Thomas Tuchel\u2019s tactics before declaring his love for the club he had only just left to return to Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n A return to Inter seemed inevitable and Lukaku was granted his wish last summer, joining on loan for the entirety of the 2022-23 campaign.<\/p>\n The 29-year-old has struggled to get back to his best at the San Siro \u2013 mainly due to his injury problems.<\/p>\n There is a huge question mark over the player\u2019s long-term future at Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n Blues head coach Graham Potter has not had a proper look at Lukaku having replaced Tuchel in September.<\/p>\n Despite the outrageous amount of money spent on several new players, the club lack an out-and-out striker, hinting that Lukaku may be given a chance under Potter.<\/p>\n However, there have been no reports to suggest this is the case and it seems that another loan, or a permanent move, to Inter is the most likely outcome this summer.<\/p>\n Gazzetta dello Sport<\/em> reported last month that Chelsea will only keep Lukaku as a \u2018last resort\u2019<\/strong><\/a> with neither Potter or the club\u2019s ownership \u2018enthusiastic about his return\u2019.<\/p>\n And now fellow Italian newspaper,\u00a0Corriere dello Sport<\/em> (via Sport Witness<\/em><\/a>), claim that the 29-year-old striker is not expected to be a Chelsea player next season.<\/p>\n The Blues hierarchy\u00a0\u2018no longer want Lukaku\u2019 at the club, the report claims.<\/p>\n Furthermore, Todd Boehly and co. \u2018consider his second adventure with the Blues short over\u2019, with Potter\u2019s woeful results as manager without a recognised striker not changing their stance.<\/p>\n The January transfer window saw Chelsea sign several young players and this appears to be the philosophy going forward and Lukaku\u2019s age (30 in May) \u2018has nothing to do with the project anymore\u2019.<\/p>\n Remaining at Inter is not guaranteed, however, as the striker still needs to convince the Serie A giants that he is worth the money needed to keep hold of him.<\/p>\n The Nerazzurri paid an\u00a0\u20ac8m loan fee to sign Lukaku last summer.
