The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) handed Barcelona star Mapi Le\u00f3n a two-game suspension<\/a> last week, finding the defender guilty of “unsporting conduct” during a Liga F match against Espanyol.<\/p>\n While lining up for a set piece in the 15th minute of the February Catalan derby, Le\u00f3n appeared to say something to\u00a0Espanyol center-back Daniela Caracas<\/a>\u00a0before seemingly touching her inappropriately.<\/p>\n The incident garnered condemnation from Caracas\u2019s club, who said that Le\u00f3n “violated the privacy of Caracas” and that the action was \u201cunacceptable and should not go unnoticed.” Espanyol’s support of Caracas included the club offering their legal services to the Colombian international.<\/p>\n In response, the RFEF banned Le\u00f3n for two matches, though the defender continues to deny the allegations, saying she simply touched Caracas’s leg. <\/p>\n “I am very upset and disappointed,” Le\u00f3n stated immediately after the February 9th incident. “That is why I reserve the right to take legal action against anyone who intends to take advantage of this situation to damage me and continue defaming me on unfounded evidence.”<\/p>\n In Le\u00f3n’s defense, Barcelona both appealed the RFEF\u2019s ruling and unsuccessfully asked Spain’s Sports Administrative Court to suspend her ban until the club’s appeal.<\/p>\n Without an appeal hearing or a pause on the ban, Le\u00f3n sat out her club\u2019s 6-0 win over Atl\u00e9tico Madrid on Sunday.
