Ange Postecoglou lamented another loss and game \u201cwe should have won\u201d as the Australian again defended Tottenham\u2019s \u201coutstanding\u201d football and insisted his players had not given up in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

A 2-1 loss at home to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday morning (AEST) <\/a>was Spurs\u2019 18th defeat of a miserable Premier League season and leaves them just two places above the relegation zone.<\/p>\n

It also put Postecoglou just one loss away from equalling the club\u2019s record for most defeats in a Premier League season.<\/p>\n

The latest performance was met with boos from fans at half-time and Postecoglou insisted he shared fans\u2019 frustrations as a dismal campaign continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t need to say anything to the fans. The fans are disappointed. They\u2019re probably angry, as we are as well,\u201d Postecoglou said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s too many losses. I know that. I don\u2019t need to tell the fans anything. The fans clearly wouldn\u2019t be happy with our results but neither am I and neither are the players, and from our perspective it\u2019s something we need to accept responsibility for. We\u2019ve fallen short of the standards we need to have.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe flip side of that is it\u2019s not because of the way we\u2019re playing … it\u2019s another game we should have won.\u201d<\/p>\n

Postecoglou still has a chance to win silverware in his second season at the club.<\/p>\n

Spurs face Norway\u2019s Bodo\/Glimt in the semi-finals of the Europa League next month, with the winner of the competition guaranteed a place in next season\u2019s Champions League.<\/p>\n

The Australian, whose team travels to face Liverpool on Sunday, acknowledged the Europa League was now his priority but he denied his players\u2019 minds were elsewhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not like we lost because the players chucked it in,\u201d Postecoglou said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf that\u2019s what (people) saw they\u2019re watching something different to me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI dont think they lacked motivation today because I thought our football was outstanding but again I thought we paid the price for lacking focus and concentration in key moments and it\u2019s another game we let slip.<\/p>\n

\u201c… It\u2019s another game we\u2019ve lost where we shouldn\u2019t lose and it\u2019s been a big part of our season in that we just make things really difficult for ourselves in key moments.<\/p>\n

\u201c… It\u2019s a shame because our football was outstanding. We totally dominated the game and even with two goals conceded I still feel like we deserved to win the game but at the same time it\u2019s another loss, it\u2019s another unacceptable loss for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
