Bayer Leverkusen\u2019s appointment of Erik ten Hag could be another genius hire, according to one of their leading players.<\/strong><\/p>\n Nathan Tella, one of the key men from their unbeaten 2023\/24 Bundesliga<\/a> campaign, has told talkSPORT of his excitement over the hire.<\/p>\n 4<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> Ten Hag has the huge job<\/a> of replacing Xabi Alonso, who won Leverkusen\u2019s first league title last year, as well as the DFB-Pokal.<\/p>\n Having been sacked by Manchester United<\/a> in November, people quickly forgot the Dutchman\u2019s two domestic cup wins at Old Trafford thanks to a dire Premier League campaign.<\/p>\n However, with his replacement Ruben Amorim<\/a> doing far worse, history may look differently on Teg Hag.<\/p>\n Tella is certain that will be the case, particularly given the manager\u2019s previous success at Ajax.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it\u2019s cool, I\u2019m happy with the club, we all trust the club to make the right decisions and it\u2019s another one where they have made the right decision,\u201d the Stevenage-born Nigeria international told talkSPORT.<\/p>\n \u201cObviously people look at how his time was at Man United.<\/p>\n “But they forget how brilliant he was at Ajax and we look at stuff like this.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m excited to go back to pre-season and work with him.\u201d<\/p>\n Ten Hag<\/a> impressed in his Leverkusen unveiling, showing a strong grasp of German after his struggles with English.<\/p>\n He learned that from a successful stint at Bayern Munich\u2019s B-team under Pep Guardiola<\/a>, but it was at Ajax where he really made his name.<\/p>\n 4<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> 4<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> The 55-year-old won three Eredivisie titles in four full seasons, and was top in the other before the campaign was cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n He won three other Dutch cups, and is best remembered for a famous run to the 2019 Champions League semi-finals.<\/p>\n Ajax were minutes away from making the final with an incredibly youthful side before an late Tottenham comeback.<\/p>\n Still – much like at United – history reflects well on Ten Hag in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n His first Eredivisie title was Ajax\u2019s first in five years and since he departed they\u2019ve been miles off the pace.<\/p>\nread more on erik ten hag<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
