Martin Keown has raised eyebrows off the charts with his pick for Manchester United\u2019s next manager.<\/strong><\/p>\n The Arsenal legend and talkSPORT host was questioning Ruben Amorim\u2019s future at the club when he uttered two words no one was expecting – Jurgen Klopp<\/a>.<\/p>\n 4<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> 4<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> Speaking about the giants after their worst-ever Premier League season, Keown said: \u201cThe number of games that they\u2019ve lost, I\u2019m still concerned that this isn\u2019t the right manager for Manchester United<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s going to be a very interesting start to the season, they could do a lot worse than go and get Jurgen Klopp to manage their football club.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not trying to sensationalise but I believe that he might do an incredible job there, they need someone there with more experience than the current manager.<\/p>\n \u201cWhy not? He\u2019s done it once before, we\u2019re comparing their journey now, he\u2019s done it once before but with a better foundation.\u201d<\/p>\n Klopp, who stepped away from management last summer, is most famous for managing United\u2019s arch rivals Liverpool<\/a>, a divide that is so rarely bridged it hasn\u2019t been done since Michael Owen in 2011.<\/p>\n The German coach helped dethrone United as England\u2019s biggest club, restoring Liverpool from their nadir back to the top of the game with a Premier League and Champions League win.<\/p>\n Nine titles enhanced Klopp\u2019s reputation as one of football\u2019s great miracle workers, having also taken Borussia Dortmund<\/a> from financial ruin to two Bundesliga titles and a Champions League final.<\/p>\n Those talents are exactly what Keown feels is needed at Old Trafford, and drew comparisons between United\u2019s current malaise and Liverpool\u2019s before Klopp\u2019s arrival.<\/p>\n The subject was breached when discussing an \u00a3100million offer from Al Hilal for captain Bruno Fernandes<\/a>.<\/p>\n talkSPORT understands that Saudi chiefs are increasingly confident about reaching an agreement with the player, and United have a decision to make.<\/p>\n 4<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> Keown sees this as a potential turning point for the Red Devils, much like when Klopp used the \u00a3146million sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in 2018 to take his side to the next level.<\/p>\n \u201cIt depends if he\u2019s to be used as a pawn to kickstart the club again,\u201d Keown said of Fernandes.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI look at what Jurgen Klopp did in 2018, Coutinho was allowed to be sold for an enormous amount of money and [Virgil] Van Dijk is still there all these years later and is a legend, that\u2019s what they spent that money on the likes of him and Alisson [Becker].<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe their need to sell a player is even greater here, I don\u2019t think it should be about one player, they\u2019ve got to look at the bigger picture and maybe make a deal now.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was interesting watching [Aston Villa manager Unai] Emery last summer when [Douglas] Luiz and [Moussa] Diaby were allowed to go for huge amounts of money, he rolled the dice.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re going to have to compete but maybe they\u2019re just putting it out there and making it so public that it\u2019s almost like \u2018let the player decide\u2019 when they would really like the money.\u201d<\/p>\n![\"Keown](\"https:\/\/talksport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2025\/05\/crop-3227466.jpg?strip=all&w=960\")
