Manchester United suffered Europa League heartbreak at Tottenham Hotspur’s hands – and they’re now hoping Spurs don’t hijack their move for Bryan Mbeumo.<\/strong><\/p>\n talKSPORT understands the Brentford forward is keen on a switch to Old Trafford amid claims Spurs may try their luck, with the Red Devils willing to meet his \u00a3250,000-a-week demands<\/a>.<\/p>\n 3<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> But Arsenal<\/a> icon Perry Groves has told the Cameroon international to snub a link up with Ruben Amorim’s men to join Tottenham<\/a>, who will be competing in the Champions League next term.<\/p>\n United<\/a> won’t be plying their trade across the continent following their defeat to their Premier League rivals in the final of Europe’s second-tier tournament.<\/p>\n And if Mbeumo does end up in north London, he could be reunited with Brentford boss Thomas Frank, who has verbally agreed to take charge of Spurs<\/a> following Ange Postecoglou’s sacking.<\/p>\n Mbeumo<\/a>, who has one year left on his deal at the Gtech Community Stadium, chipped in with 27 Premier League goal contributions in the 2024\/25 season, with only Mohamed Salah<\/a>, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland<\/a> scoring more.<\/p>\n Speaking on the Sunday Session, Groves admitted that Tottenham would be best suited for Mbeumo’s progression as a footballer.<\/p>\n He said: “Football-wise, he should go to – and it pains me to say it – he should go to Spurs because of Champions League football and you want to play at the highest level.<\/p>\n “But financially, that’s why Spurs are going to struggle to go at that [potential transfer].”<\/p>\n Before adding: “Because all the top teams pay their top players \u00a3200,000-a-week plus.<\/p>\n “Spurs are never going to do that.”<\/p>\n Co-host Ade Oladipo then claimed that Mbeumo would follow Frank to Spurs, but like Groves, believes Tottenham won’t be able to offer him the salary he is expecting.<\/p>\n 3<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> 3<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div> It’s the same view shared by England legend Stuart Pearce<\/a>, who has insisted that if the money is right, Mbeumo would choose Spurs over United.<\/p>\n He said on the Sports Breakfast show<\/a>: “I think it’s the relationship between him and the manager.<\/p>\n “Obviously he gets on very well with him it seems from the outside, and everything comes down to finances as well, if they match his aspirations.<\/p>\n “Thing is with Tottenham as well, he doesn’t have to leave London.<\/p>\n “So if he doesn’t want to change his city in any way shape or form, it’s ideal for him.”<\/p>\n Spurs are yet to formalise their interest in Mbeumo, who has already been the subject of a failed offer from United.<\/p>\n talkSPORT understands an offer of \u00a345million, plus \u00a310m in add-ons was submitted to Brentford last week.<\/p>\n However, Brentford knocked it back as they hold out for a fee of \u00a360m.<\/p>\n A \u00a360m deal would eclipse their \u00a340m club-record sale of\u00a0<\/span>Ivan Toney<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>to Al Ahli last year.<\/p>\n Visit talkSPORT BET for all the latest summer transfer betting odds<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n![\"Mbeumo](\"https:\/\/talksport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/09\/crop-2053966_9cb516.jpg?strip=all&w=960\")
