Colorado football coach Deion Sanders has been away from the team in recent days as he deals with an undisclosed health issue.<\/p>\n
Sanders has been spending time at his estate in Texas this offseason while he tends to an \u201cunspecified health issue,\u201d according to a report from Brian Schrotenboer of USA Today<\/a>. The 57-year-old coach was not with the Buffaloes last week as their annual summer football camps began.<\/p>\n Sanders has attended Colorado\u2019s summer football camps the past two years, and USA Today notes that they are listed as part of his official duties in his contract.<\/p>\n Deion Sanders Jr., Sanders\u2019 oldest son, said in a YouTube live stream on Sunday that his father is \u201cfeeling well.\u201d However, Sanders Jr. said he does not know when Deion will return to Boulder.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019ll tell y\u2019all soon enough what he\u2019s going through, what he went through,\u201d Sanders Jr. said in the stream, per USA Today. \u201cWhen we get back to Boulder, I don\u2019t know. I\u2019m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I\u2019ll go. Until then, I\u2019m going to sit here with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Sanders was scheduled to speak in Florida at the Sickle Cell Disease Research and Educational Symposium on Sunday, but his appearance was cancelled<\/a> due to what the organization called \u201can unavoidable last-minute scheduling change.\u201d<\/p>\n In an appearance on Asante Samuel\u2019s \u201cSay What Needs to be Said Podcast<\/a>\u201d last month, Sanders indicated he was dealing with a health issue. Samuel told Sanders he hopes the Hall of Fame defensive back is feeling well. Sanders responded by saying \u201cwhat I\u2019m dealing with right now is at whole \u2018nother level\u201d and revealing that he has lost 14 pounds<\/a>.<\/p>\n Sanders has been open about some of the health issues he has dealt with over the past few years. He had two toes amputated on his left foot in 2021 because of blood clots that developed after a surgery. Sanders said at one point doctors feared he might lose his entire leg<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
