Jhye Richardson will miss the IPL 2023 and it is likely that his contention for the Ashes is also doubtful after his hamstring surgery.<\/p>\n

Richardson tried to return to cricket last week but suffered a recurrence of the injury, he initially pulled up his hamstring in the BBL<\/strong><\/a>. He was later ruled out of the ODI series in India in March 2023 and the surgery option was taken in a bid to find a long-term solution.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously it\u2019s devastating that he has re-injured that hamstring again and he is going to miss a significant amount of time to get his hamstring right<\/strong>,\u201d Voges said.<\/p>\n

Richardson was brought by INR 1.5 crore by five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians, for the upcoming IPL 16. Earlier, Scorchers quick Richardson missed the BBL 2022-23 final against Brisbane Heat in February, although the Perth-based side lifted the title fifth time by five wickets.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all feel for Jhye and we\u2019re hopeful that whatever they come with as a solution can fix his hamstring and we get him back out there because it has been a tough 12 months for him<\/strong>,\u201d he further added.<\/p>\n

He sustained his injury against Sydney Thunder in the BBL match at the starting week of January this year. After that incident, Richardson was not been able to set his return in time for the tournament finals and now his recovery has taken longer than expected, initially, it was deemed as a minor injury.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old made his debut for Australia in the 2017-18 season against Sri Lanka, he has played three test matches, 15 ODI and 18 T20I for his national side. He played his last international match against the Lankan side in June 2022. Jhye played three matches for the Punjab-based side in IPL 2021, he bagged three wickets during his stint in India\u2019s T20 league.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
